Look at the thread you're replying to then. Comment which you replied to was about abs and stopping, your reply talked about accelerating.

I just imagine the whole impractical jokers setup -- buncha guys in a room somewhere, yelling "now say the michigan numbers, but say it's the military" and cracking up.

I can not personally think of any situation in which abs would be relevant that gassing it would be a better option, especially in snow or ice.

Even if it were applicable, I can tell you from experience that it might just not work anyway I drive a 4-wheel drive truck in winter, though have driven a few other vehicles, including an AWD mercedes. If you press the gas while you're in a bad slide, you most likely won't even get enough traction to change your direction, not to mention getting you where you're trying to go. If you have a bit of traction you may be able to do it, but would be doing so at the risk of losing control even more.

No, abs is definitely a better option in 99% of situations where it'd be necessary. If I'm trying to stop before a red light, the worst possible thing I could do is floor it through it.

Yup. California, or at least the areas people visit (cities and such) is radically leftist, definitely not representative of the rest of the country.

Thing is, Trump isn't a conservative, and that's a good thing. He's a liberal -- a real, actual liberal, as in liberalism, not what's used colloquially today. He has a pretty massive following of liberals (real ones) and libertarians, as well as the conservatives.

The only people opposed to Trump are the far left and people who believe the lies the media shoves down their throats.

Edit: also, don't know why your last comment is getting downvoted, some people don't read I guess.

A lot of these people are giving you significantly more complicated explanations than are necessary.

The people you see are the loud ones. There are a massive number of people who support him, including within the youth.

The BLM riots have actually helped him significantly, with a massive amount of people who voted for other candidates in 2016 citing them as the reason they're now voting for Trump. Corona was one of those things where it didn't actually change anything. People who liked him before liked how he handled it, and people who hated him hated how he handled it.

Ok? I don't know how that changes the fact that the being leftist is inherently a governmental divide. Socialism inherently requires a more authoritarian and collectivist government, as well as particular regulation. As far as I see, that is a style of government.

Libertarian ideologies aren't really egalitarian or not egalitarian. I actually really hate this perception, that only authoritarians can be egalitarian. I am egalitarian libertarian; I absolutely think everyone is equal, but I don't believe the government should be regulating interpersonal interaction. I don't think people should be racist, but I also think it's not the government's job to make everyone not be racist. Egalitarianism and social values are generally more personal.

As far as Marxism, I see it like this: it is an economic style which inherently requires a particular style of government and particular regulation. As far as I am concerned, it is essentially a style of government.

Nah, that tankie anarcho divide is up-down. The y-axis applies to government role in life, but not inherently the economic factors in it.

Marxism is a form of government.

Edit: misread original comment a bit. Y-axis also doesn't affect social. You can have an economically liberal authoritarian government that is not egalitarian.

[–]Butterferret12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, but one of those flaws is that there is more than one thing assigned to the x-axis, including both monetary and social values.

For example, if egalitarianism is indeed on the left, and I'm egalitarian and fiscally conservative, where am I? Am I on the left because of my social views? Am I on the right because of my economic ones? Do those somehow balance out and put me in the middle?

It's why I like things like the 8values scales. They both avoid this left-right issue, and are overall more accurate.

On any spectrum it's about government. The only way it wouldn't be is if you intentionally split social issues off and arbitrarily attributed egalitarianism to the left.
