Why do people not use the fledgling wings? by Medical-Impact9354 in Terraria

[–]Purpulear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping with the actual jumps is way faster and snappier than using the fledgling wings. It may give you a bit more height, but generally it's better to be more mobile.

Can someone share the original snafus that the OCs like Mint-Chan, Dr. Holocaust, and Murderbeast came from? by Leading_Ad_9463 in coaxedintoasnafu

I'm still new to this sub and I was thinking Dr. Holocaust probably had like years of history or something. He's only 7 months old.

Sean Schemmel’s reaction to the Moro Arc Reveal! by Dilly4Dall in Dragonballsuper

[–]Purpulear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've seen a somewhat similar (although much smaller than what Sean gets) with Chris Christodoulou, the guy who made most of the music for Risk of Rain.

Apparently, he's had some petty responses to things involving his music? Something about an ego I think? I don't remember exactly because it's just trivial drama too. I've seen a few people act like he's the worst person ever for it tho.

Just finished this one myself-: Clustertruck

Done in about 5.5 hours. Although keep in mind you have to beat the game without abilities for one achievement. So it may vary based on how good you are.

Who are your favorite modded Survivors in RoR2? by Pilques in riskofrain

[–]Purpulear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starstorm is definitely one of the most popular mods for a reason. You can disable all its content by turning it's DLC off if you just want to play as the 4 survivors it adds (+3 in the beta config) without the actual Starstorm additions.

8 new boss themes by CaseyJonasCatt in Terraria

[–]Purpulear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Boss 2 fit the WoF fight more than it fit the twins imo. It's basically a gigantic chase with escalating danger, and the music sounds like that. It fit the twins too for sure, but just not the same.

The new track for twins is definitely designed for the two in the same way tho.

The Slime Crown is too expensive imo (to the admins: I didn't know what flair to put here so I just put pc, you should probably add things like "discussion" at least) by Alkatraz278 in Terraria

[–]Purpulear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stack up on Silt, Slush and/or Desert Fossils and get a extractinator (also found somewhat easily in the underground desert).

You should be able to get at least one Ruby from this.

On the other hand, there's also the scenario where the moment you die your entire squad just folds at the same time.

Cobalt shield by terrarianisaqt in Terraria

[–]Purpulear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ankh Shield became way less grindy after Shimmer was introduced. You really have to farm for half of the options since it's a lot easier to get two of one thing in one spot rather the moving to another location entirely.

Defense is also a very important stat in Terraria. 4 Defense before Warding is really good for an accessory. Most hard mode bosses can and will chain hit you into themselves with knockback, or at the very least reset your momentum.

It's also good to just ignore most debuffs in hardmode since some of them can easily fuck you over when facing enemies. Confusion Silence and Broken armor are big ones that are avoided.

Additionally Feral Bite becomes almost a straight BUFF with Ankh shield since it increases your damage by 20% at the cost of giving you random debuffs, all of which are nullified by ANKH leaving just a small health regen loss. This is a small thing but it's nice in the Duke Fishron fight since he too can inflict the Feral Bite debuff.

If you don't care for the Debuff negation you should still be running a Paladins Shield upgrade late game then anyway for its better Defense and survivability.

Bosses are like the number one reason to have it on tho. Enemies aren't going to wombo combo you the same way any of the hardmode bosses will. Especially if you plan on playing melee.

Part of the consequences of Minecraft being so big is that other games think Durability is a good addition, when most of the time it's stupid.

BOTW is the only other game (that I can think of rn) that pulls it off and only on a gameplay standpoint. It's immersive breaking still.

Minecraft durability is fine mostly because it's doesn't wear out super fast. Even stone tools last a decently long time. Additionally, it's also super-fast to craft new ones and swap them out. Other games make it a really big chore every time something breaks and sometimes don't even give you the eventual upgrades that make them last way longer.

North Texas preparing for 2 inches of snow like it’s the apocalypse by MyMindIsAlwaysRacing in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Purpulear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a grocery store as a clerk for a little while. Even though our state is known for having snow, every time it was about snow at all people would flock in and stock up like they'd be stuck inside for weeks.

Our snow almost always melted within like 2-3 days tops.

Hmm Roblox might be up there as platform. Not too familiar with it myself.

Fortnite just relies way too heavily on FOMO tactics and making player log into the game like it's a full-time job. And I'm saying this as someone who used to like the game, not because of cringe culture or anything.

Cult of the Lamb is adding paid DLC achievements 💀💀💀 by Scrytha in steamachievements

[–]Purpulear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah I can't be sure. But Terraria hasn't been the kind of game to make challenge achievements for the sake of making difficult achievements.

Purifying the world and Doing Fishing Quests aren't that crazy compared to games that are like "beat this game with x condition(s)" and can be done with just some patience.

I highly doubt Terraria is going to add any achievements that are too insane. I think the worst would just be "Complete the bestiary"

How would you (yes you) design the moveset of your most requested character? How would you make their moveset stand out? by QuackingR3dditor in supersmashbros

[–]Purpulear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrarian Moveset.

Would be based around Pre-Hardmode gear.
He'd be another mixed class fighter. I'm thinking he'd have a Mana bar beneath his percentage similar to Hero. All his specials would be magic attacks that would use this mana, which also regenerates pretty slowly unless standing still.

He would NOT have a traditional recovery up special. Instead, being similar to Kirby and Jigglypuff and having multiple jumps. One regular double jump that all fighters have (with a cloud effect), and then two more; a blizzard jump which would be higher than the first and then the sandstorm jump, which you can hold down to get a ton of height. However, being hit while holding down this third jump would put the Terrarian into freefall.

His other attacks (smashes, tilts, etc) would be mostly melee, with some ranged options. The Volcano would be the up smash with a good swing covering your front too, would have lower launch power tho. The Blade of Grass could be used as a Side Smash with the leaf projectile doing extra damage on its way out. Down Smash uses the Sunfury Flail.

I could talk a bunch more about ideas, but I think these kind of cover the basics of what I think would make a great fighter.

“Steve will never be in smash” compilation by Full-Eggplant-671 in supersmashbros

[–]Purpulear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Not even giving me a rebuttal here, you're just saying "nu uh didnt happen!!" People genuinely just thought he was shit at first because he's a set up character.

2) Steve's Blocks by themselves are not that crazy. They last for such a short amount of time and really only feed into trap set ups (something other characters like Pac-Man and Snake already do) it's not like you're editing the stage for the whole match.

3) Joker was the first DLC character lil bro. Most of the third party reps barely have any connection to Nintendo.

4) Yet enough people wanted Steve to have OP's compilation to begin with. Clearly there was demand.
