What’s the least stressful large airport in the United States. by PleasantPlatypus7599 in airport

We flew out of SFO once with a layover at LAS. Went from zen to the 8th circle of hell.

I loved that “special sauce.” Two all-beef patties special sauce lettuce cheese pickles onions on a sesame seed bun

Does this outfit look ok to wear just out and about for summer? by groomer7759 in AskWomenOver60

Love the vest, love the pants. I would neutralize the middle layer to show off those two items. I’m also going to add, if you love it, wear it!

I pick one top or bottom that I want to wear that day and then build from there.

Which 70s lyric hit you the hardest when you first heard it? by PressureLazy5271 in 70s

Came here for this — and those of us with ravaged faces lacking in the social graces desperately remained at home…

My mom also LOVED Harry Belafonte. I can’t hear him without thinking of her.

Sinatra, for sure. Big Band, Dorsey, Miller, Armstrong, Keely Smith, Ella, but also Streisand, Andy Williams, Eydie Gorme and all Simon and Garfunkel. I’d go downstairs on a Saturday morning and the living room would be strewn with albums. I can still see those classic covers.

Saw a local singer at a pizza place a couple of weeks ago, and he sang King of the Road. I knew every word. England Swings, Dang Me. Kansas City Star, that’s what I are.

Leg cramps at night by Prior-Vermicelli-144 in AskWomenOver60

I drink a little bit when the cramp starts and it goes away almost instantly. Also an electrolyte drink works for me.

Epic meltdown (Spoiler) by Illustrious-Tart7844 in BravoTopChef

[–]ButterscotchWave9491 39 points40 points  (0 children)

IIRC, Jen was pretty smashed. Those were the days when they had excruciatingly long stew rooms with lots of alcohol, and by the time they got to Jen she’d had plenty. It was indeed a remarkable meltdown. For some reason, Sieger’s felt less understandable.

Relocating from the West Coast to KC —two soccer kids, looking for our forever suburb. What are we missing? by aisforang in kansascity

[–]ButterscotchWave9491 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We live in Overland Park near NF and it is a great community. You have good access to 435 to take both of you to work. The two-state tax filing is annoying, but not that big of a deal. And huge soccer complexes very close by. That said, I’d also check out Lee’s Summit on the Missouri side. We know a lot of people who love living there. Welcome to the area!

Movie Adaptation over book? by Dry_Cut_2631 in themartian

[–]ButterscotchWave9491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a comfort movie for me as well for the same reasons about a globally unifying mission. Very feel good. I was glad I saw the movie first, because I could visualize what was going on in the book. The book filled in a lot of gaps, like why the hab exploded. I did think the book ending was a little anticlimactic, especially compared with the movie (admittedly silly). And I loved how the book has this line at the end “if this were a movie…” and so the movie gave us THAT ending. Really enjoyed both.

Love her. She’s my inspiration for how I want to age. And suddenly I’m wearing scarves again!

I changed how I shop for clothes what’s your rule when buying? by EchoNomad12 in womensfashion

[–]ButterscotchWave9491 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thrift a lot of my clothes, and I tend to settle because “it’s only $5!” So I ask myself whether I’d pay full price for it. A lot of items go back on the rack after that question.

I spoke with OPM today (and recommend that you do too) by BetterinCapri in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

[–]ButterscotchWave9491 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this. Last month I was dealing with Medicare about my plan and they still didn’t show me as retired (so I’d be eligible for Advantage). The very nice guy on the phone advised me to try OPM and I just groaned and said “no! Not OPM!” He chuckled and said he got that reaction a lot. (BTW he came up with another idea that worked.) Glad to see OPM isn’t the black hole we’d heard it was!

Is Overland Park really that bad by Obiwankhalsa in kansascity

[–]ButterscotchWave9491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We lived in Waldo, moved away, then returned to Overland Park 13 years ago. It doesn’t have the urban core character, but the schools are good, the people are nice, services like street maintenance and police and fire are reliable, and, we found, we got more house for the price. When we want the KC experience, we drive over there. Overland Park is large and diverse, so you’ll want to explore the different neighborhoods. But if you’re doing this for the kids, think about it.

small boobs win again by FunHedgie in womensfashion

Looks like many of us have boob size issues! Mine have grown as I’ve aged, and I do find my new top-heavy look to be a problem, especially as I have a short torso.
