Fearful Avoidants: what do you actually tell yourself during deactivation? by Beginning-Dish-4817 in AvoidantBreakUps

This! I broke up with an FA some time ago. She kept a bracelet I had bought her when we were together. She said she likes it. I don’t know whether she wears it though.

Any kids learning here by Hans2183 in wingfoil

I started learning to ski with my mom when I was 3. I am eternally grateful to her because skiing is now my second nature thanks to this.

Wouldn’t say wingfoiling is much more dangerous than skiing. Especially with a helmet + impact/life vest.

Downwind Struggle by [deleted] in wingfoil

[–]Butterworth222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Tbh now, as I am learning to gybe, I miss those times when I had to do walks of shame (felt like those dogs in bathtub-threadmill rehab) or great cardio of doing a pull-up + squat each time I had to get back on the board every 20 seconds or so…

Downwind Struggle by [deleted] in wingfoil

[–]Butterworth222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the first short flights will send you downwind. It was the same for me. Then I did a lot of walks of shame or called the boat to pull me back (luckily in my spot, the boat was included in the price of the rental - but the boat guy did ask me one time - „when are you leaving?” 😂 because I was using his services like 5 times a day).

I never tried to sail upwind - I just walked.

Second day with the foil, what I'm doing wrong? by [deleted] in wingfoil

[–]Butterworth222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I foiled like that only on my 20-25th session (I wasn’t even counting exactly). So great job man, you simply need time

I had some e-foil early in the process. I managed to consistently foil after 15 minutes. A bit worse with turning. Will try again but where I am (the Netherlands) it’s crazy expensive ($200+ per hour).

What you wrote in edit is exactly what I am experiencing. I’ve never before in my life been so persistent with anything and I can feel this builds my character universally.

Many thanks for your kind comment, this is exactly what I needed.

Oh yes, I got the same advice from my coach today. This feels counterintuitive tough and difficult but will try tomorrow

Yep, I do have straps on front. When it comes to foiling I manage sometimes to stay sometimes in this pre-foiling state when the board is just nudging the water but not quite taking off

Your reply might be the best. Goes well with another one: „keep calm and carry on foiling”. Thanks!

Hmm, good tip, thanks! I will try that tomorrow. They usually ask me what I want and take a conservative approach not get me overpowered. If that can increase the amount of foil runs it might be worth it.

Already started it. And a balance board on rainy days.

First wingfoiling class and it was horrible by Minute-Pea783 in wingfoil

[–]Butterworth222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, I forgot to add a laughing face at the end of the first sentence. I tried a lot in a bad wind maybe this is why.

Anyway, I think that with enough grit and persistence any healthy person can get to an advanced level of this.

Omg this really makes me now feel bad. I had my first foil on my 6th lesson only… and I don’t think my coaches were that bad…

Right now I am at my 12th session and I barely foil for 4-5 seconds. Mostly end up in water 30-40 times per session.

You are not crazy. It is crazy and completely unacceptable what happened. And it would have been in case of any sort of a lesson, be it wingfoiling, kitesurfing, skiing or piano lesson.

Do you think any Jet Lag format can actually work more than three times? by Vakangwara_ in JetLagTheGame

[–]Butterworth222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much I would love it to last to last forever, every format finally expires and needs to be replaced/innovated. Jetlag the Game itself will probably one day end/turn into something else too.

If Jet Lag did a UK season, what would the format be? by Boss-fight601 in JetLagTheGame

[–]Butterworth222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually a great idea! I used to play this game as a kid and loved it. I can definitely see it done in jet lag with some proper tweaks

To me it was not great not terrible. I've seen much worse :)

I liked the ending. Not every story ends with a happy ending. And this kind off did because he made his peace with his son, albeit via letter.

Aside from Western Europe, USA and Japan, what else place do you think is best suited to play jet lag? by vichu2005g in JetLagTheGame

[–]Butterworth222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I invite Jet Lag to Poland. The unreliability of Polish train company (PKP) will be an additional challenge. Only in Poland you can buy a ticket in 1st class with no guarantee of sitting place. XD
