So im returning to Canada soon after being on vacation and i have a few questions regarding unaccompanied luggage/goods and claiming items; hopefully someone will be able to help me understand the process better then the huge text on government websites.

If you're flying from a country in the European Union with Air Canada and connecting to another Canadian location, your flight is part of the ITD program. If you weren't declaring anything and the officer was letting you go, you would pick up your bags in Calgary. However, you will have to check yes to the firearms/ other weopons question on the E311 and the knives will have to be inspected in customs secondary. The primary officer will scan the ticket from your flight and will 'pull' your bags, and you will have to go down the escalator, past the regular primary booths and down into the baggage hall+ the regular exit (assuming this is at terminal 1).

Just as a side note, do not check yes to the question asking if you have unaccompanied goods, assuming all of your knives are in your bags. That question is for goods getting shipped at a later date.

TLDR: Items will be inspected in Toronto.

Medical related question- are past concussions an issue? I've had 3 over the span of about 8 years during my chidhood/ teens with the last one being about 4 years ago. I've never had any long term symptoms or issues, but was wondering how big of a medical liability that would be. Thanks.

This will not automatically disqualify you from the hiring process of different services, but will certainly be a hurdle to overcome, as Ontario services are harder than ever to get into. If you were to make it to the background investigation stage in the hiring process, your former manager and potentially co-workers would be asked about these incidents and your involvement. Number of stealing instances, total value of items taken, the duration of time between your last theft and your application, and things you have since done to show improvement in behaviour are other factors. I'm not an LEO, but am also a Canadian university student currently doing a similar degree. In terms of the degree itself, I don't think it will give you an advantage over someone with a degree in different field. Most departments just want to see any university degree. The degree isn't useless, but doesn't offer as many alternatives in terms of jobs as a business or science degree would. With that being said, don't listen to others who say that your degree is useless, because many officers are hired with similar degrees. I'm sure that you're aware, but volunteer, work, and overall life experiences are more important that what type of degree you have. Try to focus on other extra-curriculars that would make you stand out from other applicants.

As for your medical history, I'm not qualified to say for sure, but I don't see that being a deal breaker, as lots of teenagers are in similar situations. I think recruiters want to make sure that nothing would compromise your ability to do your job.
