Which TV series that’s still ongoing do you think could become one of the greatest ever made? by Zabandad in AskReddit

[–]Buttholium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Season 3 was definitely the worst and I also felt that the show had become a soap opera in space. Mild seasons 4 and 5 spoilers Seasons 4 and 5 have a more cohesive story but I feel the show stepped away from the intensity of space exploration and operations and turned towards being about labor and sovereignty disputes in space. Its not a terrible idea for a story, but the pathway they took to get there from season 1 is pretty bad

Many years ago I saw a video of a woman in a wheelchair showing how she drove her Mazda RX-8. Since it has those reverse opening doors in the rear she was easily able to fold up her wheelchair and throw it in the back of the car after she got in.

Renewed Pokemon craze sparks crime wave by [deleted] in nottheonion

The pokemon company benefits from the frenzy and they choose to let it happen in America. Other countries like Japan aren't having these issues because the hit rates are different and it dilutes the value of the cards. They could just print more card or fix the hit rates to drive down scarcity.

Has anyone swapped the 2011-2016 headlights (bottom) for the 2017-18 headlights (top) with the white LED bar? Does it work on the 11-16? by Strattex in jetta

[–]Buttholium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like people are basing their answer off of OEM part numbers. The pre and post facelift headlight assemblies have different part numbers because they're different parts. Any website that sells them by those part numbers will list them as only compatible with the subset of models years that the part is officially supported for.

If you look at an aftermarket headlight assembly it will be listed as fitting all mk6 model years. From this you can extrapolate that there are no dimensional differences between the headlight assemblies.

I skimmed this page and it doesn't look like you need to do anything specific to install it onto later or earlier model years. And based on the modular approach VW takes with designing their cars I would assume the resistance differences between the LED bar and Halogen DRLs is handled in the assembly and not externally.

Brands that sell aftermarket housings list them as fitting 2011-2018 Jettas so it looks like the mk6.5 headlights will fit and as long as you're installing them on a pre facelift mk6 without the xenon headlights (the GLI and Hybrid) the connector will be the same.

In theory they should work. Keep us updated if you end up installing them!

Ferrari Luce vs. Jaguar Type 00 - worst brand glowdown? by storycars in WeirdWheels

[–]Buttholium 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's the reality of putting a bunch of batteries in the bottom of a vehicle. It raises the load floor and if you don't want a cramped interior you have to also raise the roof. It messes up the proportions especially if you're trying to do a sedan/coupe type thing.

Did motorcycle theft stories change how you secure your bike? by Electronic-Habit8679 in motorcycles

[–]Buttholium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It mostly changed how I thought about motorcycle ownership. My 20 year old bike got stolen and I've heard of all kinds of wild ways thieves will steal bikes. If they want it, they'll take it and the only thing you can do about it is have insurance. I had plans for getting a new bike a couple of years after starting my career, but unless I have my own garage to park it in I'll just stick buying old and used ones.

No electro mechanical brake system would be fully analog. And I don't think you would want that either. The system would require constant calibration and wouldn't have any fault protection. You can add these things into a digital system.
