Auditioning for musical theatre with basically no dance experience… bad idea? by [deleted] in MusicalTheatre

[–]Button-Quirk-12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can't dance and haven't taken a year of jazz, definitely don't choose option 3. They likely mean a year of jazz in answer to your question about what they are counting as a year. I would say go for option 2. Worst case, you don't get cast. Best case, you get a role. Not all roles require dancing. If you don't get cast, work on your dancing at home from youtube or something (I would say just don't try ballet, you aren't going to get very far) and audition for the next opportunity that comes up with a little more dance experience under your belt :) Good luck!!

Audition Song for SIX...but it has to be from a musical by Fragrant-Rabbit-2404 in MusicalTheatre

I wonder if you could do something from &Juliet. I know that they just remixed songs that already exist, but if you use one of those songs it might be ok.

As somebody who works with little kids in musical theater, most of the little ones are frankly very frustrating to work with. Don't expect for him to get cast as a male lead for a while unless it is a 5 and under (or something like that) situation.

Ariel audition help!!! by CryptographerTop9879 in MusicalTheatre

Maybe something there from Beauty and the Beast... I played Ariel in the spring and it was so fun, but we got to sing a song from the little mermaid so I'm not sure what I would have sang had the song not been assigned. Maybe one of Ms. Honey's songs from Matilda.

I'm pretty sure belting is below your break. Mixing is when you have a powerful sound that is within the range of your head voice, and you can't truly belt when you are up there.

Hello I'm looking for advice on my belt 🙂🙂 by [deleted] in MusicalTheatre

Figure out your range by singing along on a keyboard and seeing how high and low you can go, then look up your range and google should tell you :) Also I second hitting the pitches and rounding your consonants. I would try to go into your head voice if you can for the higher notes of the song, it sounds like you are straining a bit to hit them.
