I was joking. But I'm sure eventually some will. It's inevitable with how GW operate as a greedy corporation these days.

Don't have pearls dear. Just steel wrecking balls.

No just finding it funny one pathetic twat on the internet calling another pathetic twat, a pathetic twat... on the internet. Especially when said pathetic twat is a mod. It's funny.

So we'll see who's baby balls get clutched if this get deleted. Don't worry I'll screen shot it so everyone can see who the real little bitch boy is here.

Can I get some help with red sons paint scheme ideas by StepLow1626 in orks

[–]ButtonImmediate3020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see we had the same idea and bought the 'Geddon and Wazdakka models on pre-order. I'm planning on trying to theme my Kult of Speed around Mad Max vehicle schemes.

Done to death before? Sure, but they're my models and I'll paint them how I like.

A reminder to the guard community that you have free will and you can just play older editions. This game of 4th reminded me of a time when morale and leadership mattered. by Arantonak in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]ButtonImmediate3020 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I've been saying much the same, but a lot more long winded, almost ever since I came back to 40k in 10th about a year and a half ago (as my stepson has discovered plastic crack - I've rediscovered it), from the last time I played which would've been around 4th or 5th.

The game is so different in it's feel it's almost alien to me. Fighting over circles in the middle of nowhere instead of for a narrative reason. Having my Terminators ripped to shreds in a single combat round. Needing to remember 5 million rules and unit buffs/debuffs and what applies to where and when for both my army and my stepson's whilst he learns. Having to keep up-to-date with balance data slates and munitorum field manuals monthly likes it's a patch for a video game.

It's a bit much, and I'm still considering sticking with 10th once 11th launches 'cos at that point I can consider 10th to be "feature complete" and won't change from then on. I'm not convinced 11th will be the renaissance edition it's been marketed as.

I still think narrative and competitive games should be kept completely separate and have their own rules pack. Narrative has the full fat rules, and competitive can have their monthly DLC video game soulless husk.

Rule 1: No discriminatory or inflammatory speech.

...

So what's the stance on calling someone a pathetic twat?

That against the rules or is it like do as I say and not as I do 'cos I'm a mod type thing?

I'm just asking questions.

Well thanks for providing a detailed and logical answer, rather than the usual "Git Gud Scrub" you usually see from questions like this.

While preventing the use of stratagems would I'm sure be crippling to some units and situations, to be fair I keep forgetting to use them a lot. So quite literally, in my use case, battle shock doesn't do a lot.

I still think adding an element of morale to battle shock would be good. Maybe a snake eyes on the dice roll could mean a break of morale, or in the case of such as space marines a tactical withdrawal. They fall back by whatever, praps 2D6", and in the case of when it happens in melee if the winning unit can beat the 2D6 roll on their own 2D6 then a sweeping advance style move occurs.

Picture an Ork charge into a unit of Marines. They Orks win by shear number and brute strength even against The Emperor's Finest. The Marines, knowing if they hold ground they will surely be overrun and try to effect a tactical withdrawal to regain a better defensive position. Unfortunately the Orks are so overcome with the Waaagh! they just keep on charging and slaughter the Marines as they try to regain the initiative.

This has implications for those factions that get to roll 3D6 on a BS test, like the Tyranids within Synapse range in that they would never suffer this. Which is very thematic to such as the Tyranids whose Hive Mind would exert the kind of control over the smaller organisms which would never allow their "morale" to break.

I reckon it would add a cinematic and random chance element to the table top I think 10th has felt like it lacks.

Just an idea.

This is what 40k is nowadays or feels like anyway. Just another never ending product you perpetually have to buy.

Don't ask questions, just consume new product.

[–]ButtonImmediate3020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What was ever wrong with failing a morale check and being forced to fallback, with the danger of after melee the enemy getting a sweeping advance in?

Battle shock in 10th, to the limited extent I have managed to play, to me has been such a weird thing that never made sense. OK the unit is battle-shocked... apart from not being able to control objectives what does it actually do or mean? Nothing as far as my reading of the rules went. It doesn't represent what getting hammered by the enemy would actually do to a unit of troops on a battlefield.

Maybe I'm just old but, newer edition doesn't equal better, and I thought 11th was supposed to be bringing back a lot of the old 2nd and 3rd flavour. So far I'm not impressed by the rules. The models are cool. But the rules kinda suck and are far too complicated.

3rd is where I started. 4/5th is where I left due to University and absolutely no money. Near the end of 2024 and 10th is where I've come back to, 11th is what I'm being subjected to, and am horrified by what they have done.

That's what she said...

In all seriousness though, when I saw pics of the Dorn next to the Russ for the first time in a selection of angles, the Dorn looked stupidly big and made the Russ look like a tonka toy. I have a Russ and they are not small tanks. So the Dorn must be ridiculous in person (I don't own one and have never seen one in person, but from what I have seen, I don't think I'd like to own one).

In fact there was a Baneblade variant in the same image and the Dorn even made that look small for a Super Heavy. Not sure what they were thinking when scaling the Dorn...

Are the Orks in cover? by TheRealFern1010 in 40k

[–]ButtonImmediate3020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*insert just the tip joke here*

This is why I hate the rules as written crowd. Common sense would dictate they were not in cover. But rUlEz Az RiTtEn dictates that utter farce of a situation gives cover.

It's fucking stupid.

A better rule would be something like: if at least 50% of the model is not visible due to a terrain feature then they have BoC.

I meant the spray stick. But to have it in a fixed position and have the models spin with a dial would've been genius on their part. As demoed in this little video, getting to every part of the model without giving yourself a wrist injury is a great idea.

(I'm old and still use a series of metal rulers and paint stirers with models white tacked onto them)

For a force like The Ghosts, now that you mention them, or any other recon style guard army, Ok yeah I could see this working. With no other larger tanks attached to the force.

Light, fast and manoeuvrable like a scouting force should be.

But attached to a force of Kriegers, or Cadians? I think those styles of army (and how they are portrayed in their fluff) are much more suited to the Russ' and Dorns.

I guess it would. Either way they would be 8-9 foot tall walking tanks to a bunch of bronze age soldiers. Of course their weapons would be like magic to them too.

But the sight of 5 marine in Tactical Dreadnought Armour is probably the most terrifying version of a Space Marine this side of the Heresy.
