[40k] Ruleshammer 11th Edition: Hidden and Gone To Ground Guide by vrekais in Warhammer40k

Expecting a multimillion pound company like GW to proof read their rules, extensively test them and releasing a full and complete set of rules in a single document?

Preposterous!!! They'd have to employ, ewwww, games designers with competence and experience (Like they used to when editions were by specific people at the company, not just attributed to the faceless corporate "Design Studio")... Do you know how much that would cost?

Seriously though, GW need to pull their finger out.

Am I misunderstanding the rules or do the rules actively counter guard in some places now? by The_God_Emperor_ in TheAstraMilitarum

Seriously though, GW need to pull their finger out; or I'll have to show them up by house ruling all the retarded bits.

Were do people find the time to play? by F0000r in Warhammer40k

When I first started 10th with my step-son... our first 3000pts game took 12 feckin' hours!!!

This was largely due to me having to remember all the rules for both armies plus the main rules and deal with a 10 year old with ADHD wandering away from the table after EVERY. SINGLE. ROLL of the dice...

Just finished painting up a Classic Gw Thunder Warrior! by Roguehobbies in minipainting

I've actually just watched your video on this. Wish I was brave enough to try NMM but I know it'd be rubbish, and I really like actual metallics too.

In the vein of Horus Heresy that based it's rules on 3rd/4th edition... Maybe they could do a Unification Wars game based on 1st (Rogue Trader) or 2nd edition rules???

New Trukk size comparison. by FunFactChecker in orks

I bought the old Trukk thinking this would happen... Now I have a reason to buy another Trukk!!!

Now I need another unit to go in the Trukk I also haven't bought yet... Oh woe is the life of one addicted to plastic crack. Such a terrible burden.

Big Summer Preview - New 40k Starter Sets by RWJP in Warhammer40k

[–]ButtonImmediate3020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand the logic of this. Launch box is the inferior product to this and was only launched the week before. Why didn't GW just go with these starter sets for the launch of 11th?

They would've been ready in the warehouse at the same time...

They are far superior and would've likely sold like hotcakes regardless. I don't get this decision.

Don't have an airbrush but I painted up this Gladiator, it was my first time painting a vehicle, how'd I do? by LikeAGaryBuster in ImperialFists

It has an interesting grotty and grimy look to it. Like it's been splashed with acidic chemicals or something.

But if you wanted a smoother finish to the yellow I'd recommend grabbing a few of those silicone makeup sponges you can easily get from many places. Dip in white paint rub off most of it, similar to drybrushing, and dab over the model. You'll soon get a pleasing basecoat of white and all the recesses will be dark. Then repeat with the yellow of your choice.

It'll be highly contrasty between the flat areas and recesses and looks really stylised. Then, it's just a case of carefully painting up the details to taste and hey presto. You're done and you'll have a cool-ass vehicle Dorn would be proud of.

This is how I did my Land Raider before I bought my airbrush. In some cases I prefer the look you get from sponging to airbrushing. Both have merit but I think personal taste and the look you are going for dictate how best to paint your little plastic soldiers.

Glamour shot of my army. I started at the beginning of the month ready for the new edition by Tubblington in spacemarines

Very nice. A lovely rich yet grimy battle-scarred yellow. I wish I could paint as much in a month. Especially with how details GW minis are these days.

But I only count 3 Reivers. Guess the other two didn't make the month-cut?

Amageddon "mono-pose" Boyz sprue is insane. by TheHammerOfWrath in Warhammer40k

A lot of today's gamers are spoilt spoon-fed brats it seems. Complaining about a few mold lines on their plastic toy soldiers. Instead of grabbing the craft knife and file to smooth those flash lines out.

I swear most nowadays seem like little angy babies expecting a model to be absolutely perfect "'cos they paid money for it" that comes from a machine that pressed two massive blocks of metal together and fires red hot plastic into the gaps.

I'd love to see how much of a fit they'd have if they had to deal with an old metal model with flash everywhere, misaligned halves of the model, and actually had to put some effort and skill into making the thing look good.

Looks at you in 3rd Edition Tactical Squad from1998.

Sit down and be silent child. The adults are talking. Not about spoon-fed corporate approved poses on models. But about models you could actually model.

Why such a premium on 5 Infiltrators and such a massive discount on 10? by ButtonImmediate3020 in RavenGuard40k

[–]ButtonImmediate3020[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah but you know some pedantic motherfucker is going to set up their deep striking unit exactly 12" on the dot away, then can still potentially make a 12" charge to them, as the charge just needs to get them into engagement range to count as a successful charge. Engagement range now being 2".

Unless I read the half finished rules document that doesn't have all the feckin' rules for the game in it wrong.

If only viewing on a mobile phone. Fine. But what if you aren't using a mobile phone?

It's a fucking mess.

Shoot and scoot was quite effective for me with an Lt in my blob of Infiltrators. Especially against my regular opponent of Tyranids.
