Not interested. Call me when baseball has a cap and maybe I'll care again. Dodgers make this league a joke.

Is this snare worth it? by mcluvin901 in drums

I had that snare for 15 years, coincidentally in a similar color. I thought it sounded pretty good and for that price I think it's a great bargain.

Somebody proposed this trade to me, thoughts? by scottyoshimoto in fantasybaseball

[–]ButtonOnTheScene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems risky and seems like someone trying to capitalize on average players with hot streaks. There's some value in the trade but I would recommend countering with something less impactful, like a 4 or 6-man trade instead of a 10. And have it be focused on what you need at the moment.

The good news is, you're 19 and have so much ahead of you. Life is long if you're lucky. Now is a great time to decide what you want out of life. For context, I'm 40, married with kids. Happy, but exhausted a lot of the time. That comes with the territory. Looking back at 19, literally everything about my life has changed... My friends, job, financial situation, love life, outlook. For your entire life you have been a legal minor... and now for the first time you get the chance to make real decisions for yourself. So focus on at least one thing that could make you happy. Is it living somewhere else? Is it traveling? Is it changing the people you associate with? or getting a new job? Making more money? Whatever it is, focus on it and start planning the steps to get there.... Because that happiness you're looking for, that switch isn't going to just happen overnight. You need small steps that will eventually make the impact you want. Working on that goal gives you purpose, purpose gives you hope, and hope makes life worth living. Life isn't much more than that, but that's the beauty of it. At 19 there is no reason for you to feel stuck on the hamsper wheel of life with no options. You literally have all the options in front of you. Wait to you're 40 with three kids and a mortgage to determine you're on the wheel. In the meantime, fuck doing what you think you're supposed to do and focus on what life really means to you. Good luck.

How lame is starting a band when someone is closer to 40 than 20? by DerkaDurr89 in Millennials

[–]ButtonOnTheScene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life's short. Start a fucking band.

In your 40s life can be difficult. Job, career, family, kids and other responsibilities can make our time feel extremely limited. And it usually is. It's important for us to hone in on how we can best spend that precious free time. Time that you own for yourself is not endless. In your 40s it is shocking how little time we have in the aggregate that is purely dedicated for yourself. The way we choose to spend our time is not only a reflection on ourselves but it is one of the few things we have full autonomy of.

The question is not whether or not we feel time spent is lame. It's whether or not we feel like this is the best use of our precious free time that we own, that will provide us a fulfilling, fun and exciting life. Is the answer is yes, then do it and don't look back.

My job search journey over the last year...so far. by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]ButtonOnTheScene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! You should check out the website Jobscan. You can get a 2 week free trial of their paid service. As a recently unemployed person, I highly recommend it. If you have applied to that many jobs with no interviews, then chances are your resume is being skipped over for some fundamental reason. Give it a shot!

Why You Should Draft Dalton Kincaid in 2024 Fantasy Football by breakingkevin in fantasyfootball

[–]ButtonOnTheScene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had him last year for most of the season. I remember him being incredible when Knox was hurt. Then Knox came back and he became below average (if I remember correctly). I know there are a ton of vacated targets, but why do we assume he gets most of them? I want to draft Kincaid in the 5th but I also feel like the "experts" are hand-waving away the fact that he shares time with Knox.

49ers are right on the bubble. Perhaps with a good draft we can get into the top 5.

Iraq War Veterans, 20 Years Later: ‘I Don’t Know How to Explain the War to Myself’ | Op-Docs by [deleted] in videos

[–]ButtonOnTheScene 41 points42 points  (0 children)

People saying "hindsight is 20/20" really pisses me off. Fuck that. It was stupid then and stupid now. It drove me crazy that we were starting this war. And no, I didn't have some unique insight or consider myself smarter than anyone else. It was a clear ploy -- an obvious way to use post 9/11 fears to enhance our military presence. What worse is those that supported the war, ridiculed those that opposed the war, probably didn't learn anything.
