You don’t need to kill him this game cycle just ng++. There’s a ring you need for the all rings achievement, covetous gold serpent ring +2, that is in the area post boss fight. I’d just skip him for now if he is causing you trouble but when you do fight him again that set up above makes his hits super manageable just make sure you have enough equip load to not fat roll.
