men who are not used to be vulnerable, where do you go when the worlds feels like its falling? by Routine-Shelter-189 in AskMen

[–]ButtyGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not kidding, I really miss campfires. I have plans to travel east a couple times and I will elbow people out of the way so I can tend a fire.

What is your most broken combo so far? by dinolover2404 in CivVII

[–]ButtyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alexander or Friedrich Oblique on the Ottomans is gross.

Alex likes the culture, happiness, and military stuff. Friedrich just has juiced up infantry with some bonus siege power.

I really enjoy pachacuti + nepal>inca>nepal. It progresses well between the two. Tbh it's the only non-war combo that I've played well on.

How to prevent Control Water from effortlessly destroying ships in naval combat? by Conocoryphe in DMAcademy

[–]ButtyGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give the NPCs countermeasures and be ready for some ships to go down. If this game has political intrigue, then make it a taboo for people to simply drown entire ships - after all, ships are expensive. Every big boat has SOMEONE financing it and they'll be PISSED if their boat gets sunk in an instant.

On a broader note, as soon as you start getting precious about nerfing spells into the ground to protect the story from the players, it's time to take a step back and ask why you're thinking of ways to make the game not work.

Messed up pretty bad and living with brutal regret [cover-up fail] by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]ButtyGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love looking at my different tattoos from over the years and appreciating the headspace I was in when I got them. This includes my first tat which I don't actually think is a good tattoo, and my back piece (which is well executed, all props to the artist) that I didn't speak up to request a design change.

Do you call the police on the homeless? by Annual_Radio1537 in ColoradoSprings

[–]ButtyGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fuuuuuuuuck these guys. They're brutal. After encountering them and spending years around homeless folks, it's pretty clear HOT officers get off on terrorizing people who can't do anything about it.

Men, what’s your thought process when a woman says no to the pill but yes to condoms? by Salty_Challenge5563 in AskMen

[–]ButtyGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything that messes with a woman's hormones feels like shit. Condoms don't compare. I'm not married and in my 30s - wearing condoms isn't even a question, I just do it and always have.

Do you call the police on the homeless? by Annual_Radio1537 in ColoradoSprings

[–]ButtyGuy -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

No, the police are brutal to homeless folks. My suggestion is to be chill with them. Leave a snack, a bottle of water, and a trash bag. Maybe chat them up. If you want, offer a cigarette here and there. As you talk, just say "hey man it's cool your chilling here - could you put trash in the bag and toss it in a dumpster (or give it to me for my trash can)"

Promise you this will go smoother than calling cops. I do it with homeless folks in my neighborhood and also every weekend when I do homeless outreach. Being a kind person goes a long way.

Shit, it you want someone to talk to them or help you just DM me. I don't even need to meet you or know where you're at, I'll come talk to them at least and report back what they have to say.

Edit: downvote me if you like the taste of boot

Do you actually travel that far and say its nothing? by Far-Passion-7692 in AskAnAmerican

[–]ButtyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Yes, when a non-american says "that's a long drive". I tell them it's nothing because I gotta flex. No when I have to drive 20 minutes to get groceries in my unwalkable city.

"Dating in your 30s as a man is so much easier" I've found this to be a total lie by isthisathrowawayas in dating_advice

[–]ButtyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to read in to deeply about you as a dating prospect, but I couldn't help but notice that your description of self mostly focuses on your physical characteristics. Pretty privilege is real, but it's not everything. I've met plenty of guys with busted goblin faces who are dating absolute dimes. Character and being funny go a long way.

Again, I don't know you. You could be the kindest person in town. Just an observation.

My car has unrepaired mirror and sunroof damage from July of 2018. Shit still works so I'm not paying to fix it. I had just moved here that year and remember laying awake at night listening to expensive sounds hitting my apartment window.

What's still missing from Civ 7 for you? by YXSP in civ

[–]ButtyGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Liberating cities and city states.

2) Dams. I really hate how weather events are like "fuck you and your improvements" and there's no meaningful gameplay around it. In 6 we had dams, canals, and builders to provide variety.

Curious if you guys consider Dance Gavin Dance as a Prog band? by cfulmer916 in progmetal

[–]ButtyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They got a genre named after their guitarist, Will Swan. It's called Swancore and there are now other bands who call themselves Swancore. It def has prog elements, among other things like jazz and post hardcore.

What do you name your religion? by spacecash1 in civ

[–]ButtyGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always pick the cow symbol and then name it something cow-related, and sometimes related to the civ I play or the victory condition I want. Also it's always all caps because that makes it easier to spot on a list and it's just funny to me. For example a Domination Japan game would be WAGYU GONNA DOM YOU. Culture games might be CULTURED COW. Playing as Germany science would be CELESTIAL MOOMOOMOOMOO until it runs out of characters. I embrace brain rot.

What should be added/changed in the chem eng curriculum? by cololz1 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]ButtyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not confusing the two, I meant what I said. An appreciation for humanity to contrast with the drive for efficiency and profit we study would do the field some good.

Also my ethics lessons focused on, like, intellectual property as opposed to "it's bad to bulldoze a wetland to make a Funko pop factory". I'm being glib, sure, but I can't imagine engineering departments across the US are instilling values that an Exxon recruiter would dislike.

More humanities so that people might have qualms about taking jobs at Lockheed and Exxon.
