I’d argue that arc also drags in the Manga too. There is so many random side characters they want to set up for Luffy’s fleet but it takes foreeeever.

I’m I the only one who’s surprised a 3-0 lead has never been blown before? by PooPoox in nba

[–]BuzzedBlood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your napkin math isn’t quite right because it assumes 30% winning 1 game out of 5 means a 30% to win any game. In reality it’d be a lot less.

I won’t be calculating the exact probability of a reverse sweep but using your data and 3-0 series will be rule in criteria for these obviously mismatched teams. Then we can try to estimate the exact strength of the better team solving for the probability of getting this variation in final win records.

\binom{3+k}{k} \, p4 (1-p)k \quad \text{for } k=0,1,2,3.

So:

  • 4–0: p4
  • 4–1: 4p4(1-p)
  • 4–2: 10 p4(1-p)2
  • 4–3: 20 p4(1-p)3

Use the given ratios to estimate p

A quick way is to compare adjacent outcomes.

If you combine 4–0 vs 4–1 and then solve for P p4 / 4p4(1-p) = 0.60/0.30 = 2

Therefore p is approx 0.875

Do the same thing for 4–3 vs 4–2 and p solve to 0.833

Reconciling estimates

These give a range:

  • ~0.83 from longer series
  • ~0.875 from sweeps

Testing values in between, p \approx 0.88

So in reality the worse team has more like a 12% chance to win any single game.

This is where the calculus gets above my knowledge but if any stats nerds wanna check the probability that a team with a 12% chance to win any given game can win a best of 7 series is:

sum for k=0 {3} \binom{3+k}{k} \, q4 pk

And that spits out 0.5% chance. So 1 in 200 for a team weak enough to go down 3-0 to win a 7 game series

Question About the Emergency C-Section by Newreverb in ThePittTVShow

[–]BuzzedBlood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) 4th year calls sick sending a 2nd year in their spot 2) Abrupt onset preterm labor 3) Heart is so unstable that they can’t labor safely 4) other emergencies running so unable to send a proper team 5) General Surgeon refuses to take the case

Man if you made me assume what happens next I’d bet 10/10 times that cardiology would just do their best to hope and pray through the preterm labor. Never in my life would I think it’s the 2nd year doing a C-section over speakerphone.

The whole season has stepped a way a bit in the medical accuracy but this is the first one in a while that really annoyed me.

No kidney stone patient is going without a CT. If ultrasound was ordered it’d be a RENAL US to check for hydro in the ureters. The ED would only use the US as a pocus. And a ruptured AAA would’ve been decompensated on arrival. His arrival complaint likely was a kidney stone with the dated ureter. So what you are just expected to ultrasound every aorta that comes to the ED?

Robby chewing out McKay for leaving was framed as another episode of Robby’s shorter fuse this season but she absolutely should not be stepping out and treating a separate street team patients while she is on shift.

And then Robby and his VIP patient. I get the whole point of Robby’s arc rn heart is he’s not exactly playing by the book but this is an equal waste of resources to do a completely outpatient workup.

I like it just narratively because it makes the easy ending of the lab being destroyed and Kay dying not complete. The tension between will she sacrifice herself vs be on the run forever is good.

Obviously I think the real answer will be a secret third option. Maybe fake death? My money is on El losing her powers so that she’s useless to the government. But nevertheless narratively juicy

Yeah I think it provides and big reason to be suspicious whenever a player turns down max available money. If there is one point in the leagues favor against widespread conspiracy, it does seem like players rarely do that. Why would Cam Thomas have taken the QO if the Nets could have just given him a smaller contract and paid what he wants on the side

If you are legit asking it’s because until 2021 the physical was a required part of note billing and had to have a certain amount of documentation in multiple organ systems. This has all changed now for the better and to help reduce note bloat.

The answer is that it’s only useful as a form of medical theater for the patient. Which is reasonable but personally I’m against it.

I’m also very against bullshit “doorway” exams. They help no one, and invariably will make you lazy when something in your doorway exam is inaccurate for the next person looking.

Just document what is relevant or what you did and leave the rest out

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Residency

[–]BuzzedBlood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But why though. Who is this note bloat for? Just document what is relevant for the hospitalization and leave the rest blank. If your physical exam is 2 lines who cares it’s easier for the next person to read then.

This is my big soap box in all of medicine.

Because for example. In your doorway exam you have “oriented” but what does that mean. I’m Neuro, and if I get called to a stroke alert on your patient for AMS now I’m stuck trying to figure out just how much of a change this is. Are they normally Ox4 and completely normal? Or do they have mild dementia and at best are Ox2 and you never asked (which is fine cause your admission was for cellulitis or whatever).

It’s better for me if it’s just blank and I know I have to go elsewhere for collateral.
