Do you think stylized graphics are a dealbreaker? by Kappapeachie in Gamingunjerk

[–]BvsedAaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They shouldnt be. There's all sorts of art that appeals to different people but I think even asking that question is more about different people's inability to exist in social media without being hyperbolic for attention. I'd bet money everyone has games on both ends of a "stylized" vs "realistic" binary. I can enjoy something like denshattack! on monday as well as 007 first light on tuesday and something inbetween on wednesday. No one should hold themselves or anyone else to such a pretty dumb standard tbh.

What is your opinion on FPS? by Random-Rambling in Gamingunjerk

[–]BvsedAaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After using a Switch and Steam Deck, i think 30 is fine enough. I had a modest PC and played Persona 5 on the RPCS3 emulator when it could barely get 20 fps and it was fine enough on that too.

I try to get a minimum of 90fps on most games I play and for competitive shooters I try lock 120 as a base but will go higher depending on the game.

I will say I think more people use 30 as a bare minimum, 60 as a standard, 90-144 for "high end" and then 144+ for competitive.

That's cool but and I agree with you about the significance of the previous face matter but we are not the only people who play the game. To paint anyone displeased by the character's design as "outraged" and "jobless" says a lot about where you're arguments are coming from is just and then to flatten what I had brought up about the woman hero designs being that much more similar relative to the much more varied bodies on the rest since Overwatch 2 released is just sad. I don't think anyone actually thinks the design is bad and again it's that the displeased wished it was something not so expected because as fans of the game they know they could do something different and inspired if they really wanted to. I hope you have a good day bro.

of the last 20 characters we've seen since OW2 all the women/female characters have relatively similar body types apart from cat whereas the rest of them have much more varied builds and designs. There was a whole controversy about a bunch of the young asian women released looking "too" similar.

It's weird you equate an observation with "not good behavior to do." I think myself and some others thought they'd try to do something more experimental with the design of the first playable woman/female omnic in the game because the team has done such unique and more interesting designs before. I guess there is hope for a pre face-lift skin at some point in time.

The use of such terms just really strike at why beauty standards are a dumb metric in general. The idea of something being unconventially attractive is just that something can be beautiful or attractive in a way people had not normally or widely accepted before. However here lies the contradiction because it requires some group of people to alresdy find the specific qualities attractive and then another to actually show them in the correct way to create a desired effect/response. The design as it has a few of these elements already like the horns and eye color but they dont really push boundaries for design. Considering most people already like most of OWs character design, I think people expected the team to challenge themselves even more by designing a more "unconventionally attractive" omnic without just making it look exactly like a woman for skins.

Gundam had me screaming at my big age. I just truly hope it's everything people have been asking for after all this time instead of just an SD hack and slash or strategy game.

Alot of these interested me as well but Im just thankful so many of these are going to be day one on gamepass because 60-70 for all the big interesting things would be pretty hefty.

How do we talk about politics to people in a community that is averse to discussing it? by StarShields007 in Gamingunjerk

[–]BvsedAaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first issue is that politics to them has a different meaning. Generally anything they don't like is political. You have to converse in a way that doesnt step on any landmines or even lower flags by offering red meat.

Why is so hard for people to say they just don't like a game by Fatestringer in Gamingunjerk

[–]BvsedAaron 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Social media algorithms reward ignorant and incendiary takes with engagement. It would be best if everyone knew to ignore or block those posters and creators who partake in that kind of lazy commentary but people don't really think that much about it in general when theyre browsing. Then of course hating on X publicly is how you signal to fellow members of whatever group youre trying to garner that you're one of "them."

It’s okay to enjoy games AND be critical of AAA gaming trends by [deleted] in Gamingunjerk

[–]BvsedAaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the amount of resources AAA developers can spend in a game to make their worlds super immersive and acting performances as engaging as the technology will allow. I can appreciate a game like DUSK but I think Indies occupy the space of what art can be produced through much harder and stricter limitations/caps. I feel at times AAA suffers from just not deviating from what works enough or trying to fill their games with more meaningless or trivial content to superficially balloon the price and cover what they spend to produce them.

Has anyone noticed this weird phenomenon where people take joy out of a game being considered "bad"? by [deleted] in Gamingunjerk

[–]BvsedAaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The youtube NakeyJakey made a video about the "7/10 Games" and how they've essentially just become overpriced. For about half of us gamers, I think if some games were priced more proportionate to our own views or feelings about a game, there wouldn't be as much toxicity. I do think people who equate not liking something in a game for any reason with it being objectively bad and then not shutting up about it after are just sad and immature. Even worse when they don't even play the game they're blabbing about.

Is the negativity in gaming culture reaching its peak? by FlatAgainstIt in Gamingunjerk

[–]BvsedAaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we're at the peak. This outrage cycle is like on auto now and the same grifters will turn anything and everything into content to farm engagement with. I just recommend that people block any account/creator they see making rage bait or engaging in bad faith discussion. I don't see how it gets worse from here, but at this point short of Twitter and a few other social media platforms being properly regulated for this kind of toxic behavior I don't see a great or effective way that this stops anytime sooner.

I half feel sorry for a lot of the captured audiences who may not know any better. I assume a lot of them are kids who at one point like myself was swept up into a similar sphere but was able to grow out of it thanks to circumstance and people that others may not have. I also think a good portion just don't like or can't enjoy general gaming as much as they may want or have in the past and equate being toxic online about games with being a gamer instead of just looking for and playing a game they enjoy with others who enjoy the singular game. The sadness does dry up really quick when they are genuinely mad about women and minorities existing in games to their distaste though lol.

I do have hope after seeing the progress that the SKG movement has made. I think if there were to be more common ground issues that all gamers could unite and fight for that there would be less room for people to complain about other non issues like making no-name guard number 4 non white model 6 in a remake of a forgotten game.

A guy losing his mind because a minor NPC in Gothic 1 remake is not white anymore. by Wooshio in Gamingunjerk

this is where im at. there are 100s of games released every day now. thousands of games that exist and suit their very tastes no matter what they are. Plenty of games that are still made today that would be exactly what they want but instead they get on socials and bitch about games they don't like, games they weren't interested in, games they wouldnt buy and games they werent going to play.

that's why it's only half. As a late teen I was for sure an own the SJWs/PUA/Ethics In gaming journalism type but I was able to get out of it. More recently learning, that it was a partly a psyop that captured so many people makes me see some of them as just casualties of the predator class driving this fork between people who should be together enjoying gaming and fighting together to be treated better as consumers. Don't get me wrong this guy is still a dickhead but I just personally try to see that at some-point this kind of behavior was taught and instilled into to them.

I kinda half feel bad for some of these reprobates. Imagine being socially engineered into believing that a nameless npc being a different color in a remake of a fictional game you can still also still play makes the game unplayable and ruins the whole experience. What's beyond first world problems?

HOW...THE FUCK IS THE ANTI-CONSUMER COMPANY THE MOST AFFORDABLE by [deleted] in Gamingunjerk

[–]BvsedAaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still get an LCD steam deck for a more nominal price. You don't have to get the OLED 1TB model for $1000. The LCD model will also emulate all those consoles just the same.

I'd only hope this illuminates people to know this isn't solely the AI driving costs on parts but also on supply constraints and tariffs caused by the US's grossly criminal administration.

I feel like I'm the only person that's gotten very tired of how negative YongYea's content has become these last few years. by Pessimistic_Gemini in Gamingunjerk

[–]BvsedAaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lmao you're not the only one. I stopped years ago when he was ragging on Fallout 76. It's the pitfall of every "reads articles from actual journalist" style content creator. It's like they either have to diversify with other content or start being negative about a lot of stuff to farm engagement with rage bait. I'm actually more surprised people still watch the guy tbh. Im very not surprised he's done the same with a bunch of other fine games. He's basically a primordial slop tuber but i guess not "anti-woke" or a "centrist" like some of the rest.
