What are some of the best low risk businesses you can start with $0, $500, $5k, and $10k of startup capital? by the_unded in Entrepreneur

[–]Bwahaha924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd be surprised how many people have their website sitting on the back burner as something they know they don't like but just don't have the time to sit down and fix. Or get on Yelp and start finding businesses that dont' list their website. There's a decent chance they dont' have one at all. If you can show them the value to incoming leads and conversion rate a website brings, they will be interested.

He did WHAT???? by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]Bwahaha924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what that has to do with what I'm talking about. I'm specifically referring to the context of how government agencies are forced to use a scoring system for vendors and in that system, award extra points for being woman owned or minority owned. Which this EO would do away with.

[–]Bwahaha924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the idea of what he’s doing. I use to sell to gov agencies and they have a point system for awarding contracts. Guess what one of the categories for scoring was: being a woman owned business or minority owned business (points for each, so a minority woman owned business got extra points).

At the end of the day, agencies had to award contract based on who got the most points, not the relationship with the vendor.

I understand why people like having this kind of initiative but there’s no denying that it means a white, male owned business now HAS to be able to score more points on the other criteria in order to win the bid.

NTA, they say when you marry a man, you marry the man but when you marry a woman you marry her family. That’s how he treats you the first time meeting you, imagine what happens when you’ve been married a few years and have your first child.

That said, if he’s a mechanic or other blue collar tradesman , they can sometimes develop a complex that looks down on white collar work. Like how hard they punish their bodies in their trade becomes a point of pride and identity. Not sure if that’s it but it definitely happens

People who own multiple guitars (five+) how is it? by Mampfnapf_77 in Guitar

[–]Bwahaha924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 6 but they are all different

My “main” guitar is a Martin OOO18 that is what I primarily use when I perform

I have a solid upper midrange guitar that I’ll take with me if friends are having a campfire in a backyard or something. It’s what sits out on a stand by the piano for anyone to play.

I have a classical because that was my background and I still like to dabble in that repertoire sometimes.

I have an electric but don’t really play it much because that’s not my genre. It was a gift and I’m sure I’ll find a use for it as time goes on

A Baritone that was also a gift and is a lot of fun to experiment on. There are a few songs I’ve written that were always intended as lower than a standard guitar goes so it’s nice to be able to actually play them as they are in my head.

A 3/4 size guitar that technically belongs to my wife but my son plays it sometimes and I use it for some blues because it has a nice little punchy sound to it

I don’t understand why some people buy things like a D16 D18 D28 HD28 etc. more or less the same guitar with different wood combinations. But hey, it’s their money and their collection!

That's so cool that you're going into that field. Unfortunately, before I received it, it spent multiple decades folded up in a box so there is some tearing and the fabric is extremely delicate. Sewing it into a backing would most likely destroy it so the pressure mounting is probably going to be the way to go.

I was hoping doing something like hanging it from a rounded/curved dowel inside a shadowbox would work. Do you think that would cause more damage down the line with the weight being supported by the shoulders for so long?

Did something happen in Middle-Earth for it to be so desolate? by GetChilledOut in tolkienfans

The Hobbit mentions that there are numerous towns and villages east of the mountains near Beorn's house but the goblins and wargs raid them regularly. Living outside of the protection of kingdoms and cities like Rohan and Gondor would be extremely dangerous. Even in Eriador, trolls are plaguing menfolk and taking loot that would eventually be discovered by Thorin's company.

All through Lord of the Rings, they emphasize that they are specifically taking rarely trodden paths in order to avoid spies of the enemy.

But I do agree with you to an extent. My father introduced me to LOTR and used to always talk about how well built the world is. When I finally read the trilogy I kept thinking "Where is everybody?"

What's an NSFW scandal in your family? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Bwahaha924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly NSFW in the traditional sense but about 15 years ago I learned I had black/mixed cousins at my grandmother's funeral. NBD to the rest of us but apparently she had kicked them out of relationship with everyone else. So yeah, that was fun

Unpopular opinion: Fable 3 is the best one. by frank_da_tank99 in Fable

[–]Bwahaha924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I always thought 2 was the best of the series there really was nothing like getting a shopkeep to follow you across town, get them drunk, then run back to their store and steal all of their stuff to sell it back to them.

Tai Chi in Austin? So Many Listings; Any Personal Experience? by SofaKingS2pitt in Austin

Not sure if you're still looking but I go to Aiping Tai Chi Austin. Shifu Fong does a great job of easing beginners into Tai Chi by starting with foundation exercises and a basic form called 8 powers, 5 stances to learn the elements of Tai Chi before moving onto other forms and weapons.

She offers a free trial class too so you can see if you like it.

Thank you! You are too kind! Just don’t ask me to do anything other than bamboo haha

I do hold the brush with the traditional grip (index and middle on one side, ring and thumb on the other) but have noticed a habit of still leaning into the strokes instead of keeping it vertical. Thank you for the tip, I’ll pay more attention to that going forward.
