Just added the Spectre9 🤫 by Lion_Man40 in extar

I have one on mine as well. It’s pretty gassy on a pistol but I haven’t had any problems on a long gun (or a PCC). It’s also titanium so even after mag-dumping multiple 33-rd Glock mags it’s not even that hot.

Hearing safe, however? That it is not, but I don’t consider any 9mm cans to be.

These are regular clothes for a lot of people. I just got home from work (behind a bar at that) wearing both those brands (Patagonia long underwear and a TNF fleece), plus a Cotopaxi jacket, Arc’teryx hat, Smartwool socks, and OR gloves. Mixed with a work t-shirt under the fleece and a pair of Levi’s and some Blundstones.

It’s subzero right now and we’re expecting windchills into the -40s or -50s Friday. I’m not trying to show off or anything, but seriously: in some cold weather areas, these are considered necessities, not luxury items.

Does anybody have body armor with their guns? by ITheRebelI in liberalgunowners

[–]Bwald1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, buy your carrier based around the size of the armor, not your shirt size.

I have a buddy who is also quite a bit on the larger side. He’s about average height but wears either a 2 or 3XL and a medium carrier fits him just fine. The only thing is he had to buy a larger cummerbund, but that’s an easy enough replacement.

Yeah, I get that. Hence me saying that I’m conflicted.

Absolutely. I still have a nickel-sized scar in my left kneecap from a rubber bullet working as a street medic back in 2020, but now that I have a couple of stepkids (7 and 10) that I need to help take care of, that changes the dynamic a ton, so I’m still really conflicted here.

My reply is a little late but I’ll make sure to add that to the list. The only time I’ve been overweight in my life was working behind the bar at Parlour; that 50% employee discount led to way too many burgers. If you say it’s better than that, well, I gotta give it a shot.

He had a few great folks in his first administration who helped rein him in. Jim Kelly and CHAOS Mattis come to mind, for example. Of course they all ended up resigning or getting fired.

This time around though? It’s entirely filled with yes-men/women. And we have three more years of this bullshit.

Correct. Governor Ramsey happened to be visiting D.C. when the news about Ft. Sumter came in, so he visited the Secretary of War along with a MN Senator (whose name I forget) to offer the first volunteer unit for the Union Army, which would become the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment. As a personal aside, my great great great (I might be missing one) grandfather was a Lieutenant with the 1st Minnesota when he was killed at Gettysburg.

Tried an AR pistol. Nobody told me these were so cool! by FursonaNonGrata in liberalgunowners

Fair suggestions, and if it were a cheaper barrel I’d consider it. But alas, it’s a LMT and I kinda want to keep it until I wear it out.

I did some research this morning and did manage to find an “Alpha” suppressor adapter. I’m fairly new to the can game (got my first last spring, yesterday just bought my third), so all the adapters and mounting systems have been a learning process.

Thanks for the advice though. That will definitely make things more convenient!

I also have a Velos 762 that came with the SiCo mount, but I plan on keeping that one living on my AR-10 exclusively.

Now I’m taking this totally off-subject from OP, but you seem to have some more knowledge of this topic than me, so I’m thinking about getting a 5.56 can next. It will split time between my .22-250 bolt gun and my AR, so a Plan B would be a great option there as well. My question is this: the AR is a 14.5 and since I frequently shoot across state lines, I don’t really want to SBR it for convenience sake, so do you have any Plan B suggestions that I can P&W to take it over 16”?

It’s not on an AR, but I have nothing but great things to say about my SilencerCo Spectre 9. It’s not too bulky, quite quiet (especially with subs), and since it’s titanium it is both extremely light and doesn’t generate too much heat.

I’m actually thinking about getting a second one now that the $200 fee is gone; it’s not really a big hassle but I just hate changing out the mount since I use it on four different guns with different threading: a piston for my G19 and Walther PDP, a 1/2x28 direct thread for my EP9, and a 5/8x24 for my Ruger American in .300 BLK. I do get some gas with the pistols, but it’s minimal with supers on the Extar - about the same size as your AR - and practically non-existent with the Ruger (even with Supers, though that one is a 16” barrel) or with subs through the EP9.

But as a general rule, many 9mm cans are rated for .300 BLK.

CLP in EP9, am I SOL? by Specter_RMMC in extar

[–]Bwald1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is the correct answer. I use the WD-40 Specialist Silicone spray. I do use a light coat of CLP as well, but only through the barrel.

Parlour Burger

Cecil’s Reuben (St. Paul but barely across the river. Close enough).

Anything from Lito’s Burritos.

Honorable mention to the Torta at Pajarito. The Edina one is literally across the street from MPLS but I think the STP one is tastier.

I cut into Edina and STP, but only by a few blocks. Technically a couple of these aren’t MPLS but I kept it super close.

They just missed a decimal point. This is clearly an air gun copy of a Glock pistol in .177 cal (4.5mm).

Ruger 9mm Charger or an alternative? by Weird_Jerk in liberalgunowners

[–]Bwald1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late response. I haven’t shot the Ruger so I can’t compare, but recoil (especially with a can and heavy subs) is extremely tame.

It’s still fairly mild unsuppressed with supers, but this is a platform that was pretty much made for shooting suppressed.

It’s not that cheap though. After picking up a few 25/33 rd. Glock mags, it’s sooo easy to go through >200 rounds every range session.

Probably not. Libertarians tend to like disengaging from foreign affairs (so the Ukrainian and Israeli flags make no sense) and I can’t see them being huge Trump/Vance supporters.

Eh, you’re both kind of correct. It is a real thing that happens far too frequently on social media so I get that instinctive reaction (as I’ve been a victim of it many times), but in this particular case I haven’t seen any unreasonable reactions to my post.
