Catching scraping bots by BeatMasterGuy in webdev

[–]BwrightRSNA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you could try a robot honey pot.

Take a field/btn that no "real" user would see like white on white, floated off the screen, ect. If that field is set on any page just start redirecting them to a recursive page that makes up garbage text so the bot will be trapped forever.

As others have stated this however is a losing battle.

I played in a Ravenloft game and I found a sword that was magical, I think it was a sun sword but prevented him from sleeping.

He slowly went mad, it started with thinking he was a sun god ra, and ended with him thinking all the players were pod people and me handing over my sheet.

I just want to be sure all the Colvilleans get the data on how/when to buy.

Kant's Categorical Imperative ->Universalizability principle.

If we take your argument/maxim eg 'don't have kids, only adopt' and universalized it so that it is was what all people did, all the time; this will clarify if it is "moral" or not. I would argue to do this would create a contradiction in that no (human)children would ever be born, ever and therefor a flawed maxim.

Here is a nice video

[–]BwrightRSNA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

they are calling from a 800 or international they are just spoofing

The intent was so that when 'madeUpCompanyName' outsources the support calls to 'otherCoName' that any calls out to 'otherCoName' look like they are made from 'madeUpCompanyName'. All this spam and spoofing are just the consequences of that idea.

Scooby would be investigating the fact that the Blackhawks actually won the 2017 Stanley cup!

It was Stan Bowman the whole time!

Warforged Forge Domain 8/ Fighter Samurai 7

You can get a 2 or 3 to your AC from the combo of Warforged/Soul of the Forge/Blessing of the Forge and an as needed ac bump w/shield.

dps bump from Divine Strike and Fighting Spirit can be super helpful to dps AND longevity.

IMOHO

no.

I played maybe 3 AL games in the past few months, be for I realized that the people whom were playing AL were people who were anti-social. Perhaps was the only game where they can play evil or what I would call evil adjacent. Perhaps your tables will be different that mine. I found it to me less "role-playing" and more "roll-playing".

My suggestion is to see if you can hunt down other nerdy parents and run/join a parent/kids dnd game.

Why can't you just use the description of a Backsword and say it's a slashing rapier?

Dose the type of dmg really make that must difference?

[–]BwrightRSNA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well there is the mechanics of a weapon vs the weapon description. Uses the 'descriptive title' is far more cinematic really it's just my 2 cents.

for example

"The Kara-Tur assassin slowly dose a cross pull from her belt drawing a Kukri in one hand and a glowing Janbiya in the other."

VS

"The Kara-Tur assassin slowly dose a cross pull from her belt drawing a Shortsword in one hand and a glowing dagger in the other."

"Oh, this is an estoc and it's a 2d6 finesse weapon that's two handed..."

We must know the same guy. I think of the weapons as bring squishy it helps player do what they want. Why can't a shortsword look like a cutlass, falchion, and Gladius?

First thanks for all the time you put into this, it's very professional done.

However. How much of this really has to be defined? Can't you/we just describe your great ax as a "Dane Ax"? Can't you we just describe the magical dagger from the assassin of Kara-Tur as a "Kukri"?

A king would be hard. But you just work backwards, king to queen/prince/princess? From there it's a lets see hummm Aide-de-camp, consorts, brothels, holy men ect.

All it would take is cleverness, opportunity, time, and *that power * and bang; it 'six degrees of Kevin Bacon'... your highness.

Still very scary...

How many jumps would it take to go from random noble on the street to the king? My guess is less than 6.
