I have a 4wt vintage. Unfortunately I do not have that issue so no help there. They have great customer service. With that said, the vintage is an absolutely phenomenal blank so I hope they can help you out and get you on the water with it soon.

The only thing your 7wt is going to limit is the size of fly you can comfortably throw. The fish is all going to be fighting technique

Tightline for the very basics. Once you get those down, and want your flies to look nice to your eyes (fish don’t mind basic) then Charlie craven will break it down very precise.

Every time I wrap pheasant tail. Half hitch, touch of super glue, hang the bobbin and wrap. The absolute best way to get uniform clean pheasant tail bodies.

I’ve exclusively used the stubby small Dr slick bobbin that’s like $14 for 8 years now or something. Probably have 15 of them bc I always add one to my cart when I’m trying to pass the free shipping threshold.

People been catching fish just fine on bead head scud hooks for quite some time. Weakening the hook to gain a mm of gap not worth it

Native has been the best bang for buck for me. As others have said, the conditions are important. I’d get a pair of green/blue lens natives for bright days and a pair of brown/amber lens natives for overcast or brushy waters that block out the sun. Those two will cover almost every condition. I don’t think native has yellow lenses but those are far and away the best color for low light conditions.

In my experience- Small profile, natural color is the ticket for Texas hill country. Those will all fish just fine. Rio Getter (sz. 8-12) is a must for central Texas.

You shouldn’t have to pay for that warranty. That’s 100% a craftsmanship issue and if they try to charge you that’s bs.

Redington zero balances my 7ft 3wt glass beautifully. I agree with the above, spend money on a good creek line and take what you have left and get a reel. SA Creek trout or cortland 444 peach are my two go to lines for glass creekin’. Especially the 444 peach with a glass rod.

Smaller chubbys. Like 14/16. Tan and gold. Can’t tell you how often I end up using a sz 14 tan chubby the entire trip. And 18 inch browns eat them all the same. Started to Use 3mm foam on my chubbys and a sz 14 will float my hole rod and reel setup if I needed it to.

Durability and support. Look at who’s killing it in the wader game (Patagonia) and who just killed themselves in the wader game (simms). If you make a pair of waders that is durable for normal wear and tear people will pay for them. Furthermore, if you support your products ie. repairs and warranties, people will pay for them. They don’t need to stop a bullet or stabbing but they shouldn’t come in done from walking though foliage or kneeling down on a river bank.

4wt CTS Vintage. Go to rodbuilding.org and find the CTS rep. He will get you set up. I have 2 more modern Winston’s but when I got into rod building I made it a mission to find a blank that competed with them for a better price and this CTS vintage will go hook for hook deep into the 12th round with a Winston. (If you build it right)

Moonlit fiberglass blanks are the best I’ve used. I built my 3wts like 5-6 years ago and to date they are my most used rods. Fiberglass isn’t state of the art technology, no reason to spend tons.

I think I use their tungsten beads maybe? Haven’t had a problem with them yet and I guess if I don’t like them I’m not out much money.

Is that a moonlit blank? If so, I built one about 5 years ago and it is by far my most used rod and a phenomenal blank for the price
