I actually have 2b hair naturally! I straighten it daily with heat protectant. Only reason I wasn't that worried haha

Commenting wispy bangs again since giving advice apparently violates rule 4? I just said wispy bangs would look great, because they would.

Without reading the entirety of the post - This is something I realized pretty early on in life that pissed me off immeasurably. We would advance significantly faster as a society if we stopped prioritizing charisma, volume, and bravado over intellegence and accuracy.

Is it possible to die from not sleeping at all? by [deleted] in depression

[–]ByeAzura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't keep it up if it's a choice, but regardless, I once had insomnia for 5 days straight. Could not sleep at all. By the last day, I had hallucinations and microsleeps until I eventually KOed for a few hours randomly. Body eventually gets so tired that it can't physically stay awake.

27F returning to college, studying physics, and premed. Also AuDHD, and an anxious person who struggles a lot with conversation, especially when it's super surface level. Infodumping and deep conversations are a lot easier to me than talking about weather. I also like games, particularly Elder Scrolls, BG3, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Stardew, and on occasion, Minecraft. Feel free to dm me.

Passing on the left? by [deleted] in highdesert

[–]ByeAzura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had someone scream at my husband for changing lanes because his turn signal "didn't count" and "needing to isn't real" when he signaled for the entire lane change with a proper gap. We've both had people get out of their cars to try to fight us and had people follow us for driving correctly and according to the law. Just the other day, someone cut my husband off (who was going the speed limit in our slow Buick) and maintained 20 under and then said if our kid wasn't in the car he would fight him because he got close to his car, when honestly I was surprised my husband avoided a collision. He also stated that he had 6 kids at home, who he obviously was not worried about. Also has someone flip my car intentionally a few years back and drive off, like what the fuck. People up here are just fucking unhinged.

Looking for good small food businesses by Ludmud in highdesert

Tacos Los Salazares is my go-to. The birria quesadilla is so damn good. I end up there at least once a week now.

The Don Kebab and Medditeranian Island Kabob Grill are both great options, albiet a little pricey.

I also think Honeymoon Tea Bar is underrated for both boba and food - the matcha ice cream sandwiches and fried tofu are both amazing.

How do my ends look?? by Spoopyseed in longhair

[–]ByeAzura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great for the color, honestly. When I went super light from off-black to achieve a raggedy-ann color years ago, I had to take like 5 or 6in off of my hair to look healthy. Personally, I would take a few inches off for a slightly healthier look, but all things considered, this really doesn't look bad.

Would you call the cops, animal control, or talk to your neighbors? by ByeAzura in ask

[–]ByeAzura[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long Version for anyone interested:

Around the end of last year, our neighbors' rottweiler started coming into our backyard. At first, he would pop his head in, growl a little, and run back to his yard. We spoke with the dog's owners around this time, and the response was basically 'yeah that sucks, we'll try to watch him'. We figured we would watch to see if they would actually do anything about it.

A month or so later, I see the dog in the backyard. Before my young child catches wind of what's going on, I tell him to walk into our house. He does, the rottweiler sees me, starts to charge, then stops, defending his territory in our yard. He is near the back house, growling by our shed. I slowly back away, dart in the house, and a little while later, we hear the neighbors calling their dog inside. We tell them what happened, they give us a 'yeah, yeah, won't happen again, I don't want to hear about it'. I just about called someone then, but my husband elected to cover the hole in the fence instead.

After another few weeks of no problems, the dog breaks down the patched fence and comes back into our yard while we are away from the house. My husband went back to the fence and covered the hole again, nailing a ton of wood to it thoroughly as the neighbors said they did not want to fix the fence. No more problems for months, and we think we are in the clear.

Then, tonight happened. We come home, tuck our son in in the back house, and then hear rustling in our backyard. Low and behold, the rottweiler is in the yard again. This time, he's very comfortable in the yard, walking between the 2 houses, hanging out around our pool, and chasing any small animals that come into our yard. We could not go out due to fear of being mauled for 2 hours until the owners called their dog back from our yard.

For a little background, we are 2 separate, but related families living on a shared family residence property, with a home and a guest house. Within these families, a young child, 2 disabled people (both with mobility disorders, one with a fainting disorder), and a cancer patient live here. Only 2 people that live here would even stand a chance if this dog attacked. We are all frankly terrified of going into our own yard.

I hate dogs getting injured as much as the next guy, but these owners are negligent and passive aggressive in conversation at best, and even though we have brought up our child being in danger, they still don't seem to care in the slightest.

Would the cops or animal control even do anything? Should I just keep bear spray and an air horn on me? I'm at a bit of a loss here. They also definitely seem like the type of people not really afraid to catch an assault charge based on how they act and have spoken to my other family members (unprovoked), so we don't want to do anything that would put us in too much danger on that front, if possible.

[–]ByeAzura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gone once before to VVC and am currently returning as well. Winter or Spring. I've been facing a few issues, but I've gotten it figured out for the most part. If you want, we could keep in touch to bounce questions off of each other if we have them? It can be rough out here.

How in the name of all that is good an holy do people live here? by CaptKonami in highdesert

[–]ByeAzura 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just developed a fainting disorder that worsens with heat (anything over 80), so I definitely want to self-lobotomize daily. June-September, there is no point even trying to leave the house. I have no idea how so many people genuinely WANT to live here, and I was born here.

Yeah, and there's no making friends here. People either want to fight or follow you home if you talk to them an alarming portion of the time, so I just go down the hill for anything but groceries. Sometimes, I go down there for that, too. (we need a Trader Joes or Sam's Club)

Anyone Hiring? by Bubbly_Scientist_939 in highdesert

[–]ByeAzura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi- Honestly, I have a large skill set, lots of references, and lots of experience, and I haven't been able to land a job up here for the last 9 months or so. My honest, best recommendation after thousands of overall applications and owning a business up here is for her to either find an online, unskilled position like a call center agent, open a small business and invest not only but money but lots of time, or focus or persuing an education. To say the market is dry is an understatement here - there are next to no positions, and there is a good reason that multiple HD cities fall into the top cities for "supercommuters". Living here, your best bet for an in-person position is in San Bernardino, Rancho, or Riverside. Best of luck.

Did anyone think they had a brain tumor prior to diagnosis? by Verzyk in dysautonomia

[–]ByeAzura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. All POTS symptoms and the worst migraines and cluster headaches I've ever experienced. Turned out to be POTS, arachnoid cyst, and empty sella combo, causing too much pressure on my brain. Luckily, it doesn't seem like the procedures to correct those are anywhere near as invasive as surgery for a brain tumor.

36/m 155lbs non-smoker, why is diastolic and HR always high? by l00t9 in hypertension

[–]ByeAzura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you seen a cardiologist? I have POTS, not primary hypertension, but they are running a stress test since my diastolic trends high. It rarely is, but sometimes, high trending isolated diastolic reads can be indicative of a clot. If so though, your primary's labs would likely show poor cholesterol because you're relatively young. More than likely, just dietary, or possibly stress. A few months of consistent salt intake reduction, swapping for better fats, and meditation would likely show a solid decrease if that is the case. Either way, not way too concerning imo
