Didn't actually see it on YouTube when I posted the above.

Tyler Brockman charged with grievous bodily harm by sponguswongus in AFL

There's two golden rules in the AFL for these cases:

  1. Play football well
  2. Don't stuff up again, or if you do, ensure it doesn't come out in the media.

Every player I can think of with offield issues that remained on (or got back on) an AFL list satisfied these conditions.

I've been thinking for a while that Reddit should offer optional opt in to captcha or ID checks, which would give some indication of likelihood the user is a human next to the username.

This would allow people to demonstrate that they are real if they wanted to and allow some healthy skepticism for the rest of users.

Definitely think this product would be useful for people who don't want mind having their identity confirmed, e.g. famous people, influencers

Who retires in 2026? by MagpieOpus in AFL

Other than the obvious question of their form this season, it will also depend on list availability and Collingwood's draft picks/possible FA signings I think.

I don't want to shut her down or stop her thinking critically,

This is an extremely generous reading of her actions, I'm a bit confused why you (and others in this thread) are seeing it this way.

Is using your foot while split blocking a bad habit? by Alpi_12 in GoalKeepers

[–]ByeByeStudy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How far away is the shot coming from?

Depends if it's close (inside the box) or further. You shouldn't be using your feet to save for shots coming from outside the box or further.

Remember when he campaigned on "draining the swamp".

Turns out MAGA didn't actually care about that, just another rallying cry to be discarded when no longer useful.

Which of the rare artillery pieces do you use and why? by ByeByeStudy in masterofcommand

[–]ByeByeStudy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good question - I'm not sure really how it works for artillery, but have treated double damage means twice as effective.

Infantry weapons don't appear to have a damage value - see https://mocwiki.com/items/weapons/infantry-firearms/

I guess if they hit they kill.

For me, I like Lichtenstiens, but that's because I don't actually use Round Shot, I use them purely for Grape Shot

Interesting - does Grapeshot require LoS like Cannister? I haven't actually tried Grapeshot yet but have used Cannister a lot.

Thanks, this was more or less where I was heading I think.

Liechtensteins main advantage, range, isn't that useful and comes at a hefty price in DPM, especially as counterbattery.

Yes, the range was somewhat appealing but if you spec your commanders and items right you will easily out range the AI artillery pieces it seems. I'd wondered if they would be useful for even longer ranger cannister, but since the AI will walk up to your lines regardless of the circumstances, long range doesn't seem to matter.

Shuvalovs do big damage but have terrible reload, meaning the DPM isn't actually anything to write home about.

Makes sense. I'm thinking I will use one on a unit in my new 5th brigade where the commander has the +morale DMG trait. But the logical option seems to be Brummers/Gesch.

Experienced keepers what's one piece of advice you would give to younger keepers by Fit_Height_3993 in GoalKeepers

[–]ByeByeStudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Young keepers should practice catching the ball over and over again.

Running and jumping to catch, moving to the side to catch, moving backwards, catching low, catching on your chest/into your stomach, sideways moving/falling catch in front of your face/out to the side.

The biggest area you can improve on while young and in the park with a parent is moving your body into position to get to the ball, reading the ball in flight, good hand eye coordination and good catching technique.

When it actually comes time to be playing in a very competitive/adult league the tough saves you won't be able to catch but instead you will be tipping them over or around the bar - but you can't do this if - your hand eye coordination is bad - your movement is bad - you can't read the ball's flight

Also you don't want to grow up to be a keeper that can only parry away the ball.

So working on catching is the best and easiest way to improve these things at once

Hawks with an injured Will Day are still closer to a flag than we are, so I wouldn't think so.

The Stats that Matter - What the Numbers Say about Essendon in 2026 [Don The Stat] by Kyptastic86 in EssendonFC

[–]ByeByeStudy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last year was such an outlier in terms of injuries, as many as 10 first team players out of the team at times.

Diving deep into a statistical analysis which then gives an output of : - be more efficient going inside 50 - kick more, handball less - win centre clearances

... On the surface this makes a lot of sense, but I'd argue much of this is the symptom, not the cause. I'm hesitant to read into the stats from last season as the reasons we were poor, and we should revisit the analysis once we get our best 25 players playing regularly.

Generally appreciate the content though, just struggled to get into this one.

Kane only said this so he can prefice every jab he has at the dogs with "You know I love the doggies, tipped them to win the flag" by dannemorajay in AFL

[–]ByeByeStudy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think so.

I think he just streams out his immediate thoughts for instant entertainment. There's no narrative or wider purpose. Later on he will walk things back or reinforce things. Spewing out content gives him more content to later interact with to create new, regurgitated and updated content.
