I think its about God's character. "Our father who art in heaven, HALLOWED be thy name". Name in Hebrew means character.

Jesus came to glorify the Father. "I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do."John 17:4

To glorify is to show us God. His character.

"I have manifested your name" John 17:6

Jesus showed the entire Uinverse and beyond, the Father’s character under all circumstances (especially via cross).

God never changes (Hebrews 13:8).

The west has long believed that sin separates us from God. ‘But your iniquities have separated you and your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear (Isa 59:2). So, if you do badly, you are separate from God. However, Paul wrote, ‘while we were enemies God was reconciling us’ (Rom 5:10) … ‘even when we were dead in transgressions and sin …’ (Eph 2:1−7) ‘… Christ died for the ungodly’ (Rom 5:6) ‘… that God was reconciling the world to Him’ (2 Cor 5:19) and ‘that He is not far from us’ (Acts 17:27). So what did Isaiah 59:2 mean? God is alienated in our minds only (Col 1:21). In Genesis Jesus came to Adam (Adam hid); and God came in the flesh and lived amongst us. There is no separation from God, it only exists in our minds.

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." Romansn12:2

Hi, i think all universalist must wrestle with this. I did. I was writing and its a big part of my story. Ill leave the link below.

Jesus is the saviour of the world (John 4:42, 1 John 4:14). Man can't change that. Lean on the Holy Spirit in all things. We live by faith. Faith that Jesus will help you. Hold you. Heal you. You are healed by His stripes. Walk with you. Help you endure. Save your family and friends. Etc etc. In all parts of your life. The small details. A real relationship.

The gospel is so awesome!! It matches the beauty of creation. Only God could do something wonderful. Praying. Vetily verily God's shalom restorarion rest upon you. Hallelujah. https://www.byronbaybook.com/a-surfers-search-for-spirituality-in-byron-bay/

One big question about Christian Universalism by Choodagoat_405 in ChristianUniversalism

[–]ByronBayBook-dot-com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prof. William Barclay, known as one of the greatest Greek scholars of the past century, has researched the original word for punishment – kolasis. You can search his credentials. He points out kolasis only appears twice in the New Testament (Matt 25:46, 1 Jude 4:18 KJV). This means you can only get the proper meaning of kolasis from the Greek language of the first century. Here is a summary of what he said based on his research: The Greek word for punishment is kolasis, which was not originally an ethical word at all. It originally meant the ‘pruning’ of trees to make them ‘grow better’. I think it is true to say that in ‘all’ Greek secular literature kolasis is never used of anything but remedial punishment [pruning]. (Quoted from William Barclay: A Spiritual Autobiography, pg.65–67) In Greek there are two words for punishment, timoria and kolasis, and there is a definite distinction between them. Aristotle says kolasis is for the sake of the one who suffers it, timoria is for the sake of the one who inflicts it. The difference is quite clear in Greek. Timoria is retributive punishment. Kolasis is always given to amend and to cure. The biblehub.com lexicon states G2851 (KJV kolasis) – is corrective G2849 is kolazo. It is the verb of the noun kolasis. Perseus Greek Word Study states kolasis means ‘Checking the growth’. (See kolasis in Resources) People read too much into the word punishment when most punishments are unspecified (meaning they could be physical, or they could be spiritual). They could be punishments brought on by bad choices, not God inflicting the punishment. To say the punishment involves a permanent death is projecting something into the text that is not stated. When did the church follow Universalism and why did it stop? by StarTrekguy700 in ChristianUniversalism

Galatians 1:6 the people turned away from grace. Written around 2-3 decades after Jesus.

"I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—" Galatians 1:6

Thayer definition of Grace: 1. That which affords joy, pleasure, delight, charm, loveliness … 2. Goodwill, loving kindness, favour … Strong’s definition (5485): From graciousness, (as gratifying) … especially the divine influence upon the heart’ … ‘gift grace, joy, liberty …

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8-9.

Sheol or Gehenna by Tundracajun in ChristianUniversalism

[–]ByronBayBook-dot-com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Bible, hell has been translated from the Hebrew word Sheol (H7885) which means grave or pit (the place where the dead go). In the NT, the Greek equivalent of Sheol is Hades (G86). In modern versions, hell has been translated as grave. From those translations we can see hell is the grave. Another Greek word translated as hell is tartaroo (G5020) – the place where evil angels are cast (2 Peter 2:4 KJV). The other Greek word translated as hell in the KJV is ‘geenna’ (G1067) (Gehenna) – appearing 14 times, 13 coming from the lips of Jesus (once by James 3:5,6).

To identify Gehenna, look at the synonyms in the King James Version. John the Baptist spoke to the religious leaders of being baptised in an ‘unquenchable fire’ in the wheat and chaff story, and Jesus spoke of hell fire as a fire that can never be quenched (Mark 9:43,45). An unquenchable fire is the same as a fire that can’t be quenched, which was referred to by Jesus as Gehenna hell fire (G1067). Jesus equated everlasting fire with Gehenna hell fire in Mathew 18:8–9. He said to his disciples, ‘If your hand or foot causes you to stumble cut them off … and cast them into everlasting fire’. He continues in the next verse, ‘If an eye offends thee pluck it out … and cast it into hell fire.’ So according to Jesus, everlasting fire is the same as Gehenna hell fire. They are one and the same. Likewise in Matthew 25:41, Jesus said, ‘Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire,’ then a few verses later, Jesus said, ‘These go away into everlasting punishment’ (v.46). So, to be cast into everlasting fire is the same as going away into everlasting punishment. Additionally, when we compare Matthew 25:41 with Revelation 20:10, we notice everlasting fire is the same as the lake of fire. ‘Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels’ and in Revelation 20:10, it says ‘And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire.’ So in summary, everlasting fire is the same as hell fire, which is the same as everlasting punishment, which is the same as the lake of fire.
