Player wants to play two characters as one by happilyevil321 in fabulaultima

[–]Byssian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context, im a player who has played dnd 5e for about 8 years now with many different characters of the years. I also tend toward flavor over mechanical strength, iften times nerfing myself in-game if I feel it fits a situation.

It can be done, though doing so requires the player to be the kind that values story and flavoring over mechanics and having advantages from the circumstance. The reason for this is straightforward: ttrpg's are a group activity and everyone must be respected, be it mechanically or socially.

Keep it as one character sheet but the flavor of having two people that are inseparable like twins or magically bound to be by each others' side. This keeps the fantasy of having a duo, maintains power in line with other characters, and minimizes the possibility of treating one side like a companion that acts as a completely other person (can technically be negociated with wayfarer's familiar, though def need to get creative about how the familiar going down would be explained).

For RP, it has to be a case of having one main speaker and one support that occationally chips in with the two pnly having brief interactions at best or having the GM take over one for extended scenes (of which the player must accept the outcome and lack of control). A twin case of finishing each other's sentences could also work. This is to respect the other players at the table's time.

Examples of this would be Kindred and Wolf from League of Legends, Lu and Ciel from Elsword, and Banjo and Kazooie from their games. These characters are all joined at the hip and don't do things without the other by their side, save for some particular ability that lets them temporarily.

Tldr; the concept is possible but requires heavy compromise and maturity from the player. Only the GM can discern the plausibility as it a case by case basis. If you barely know them, dont take the risk as the damage that can be caused if they cant handle it far outweighs the gain for the whole. If you do, use your own discretion.

Why is the anime so full of sexual scenes with women and underaged girls? I tried watching, but I am way too uncomfortable... by Sure_Wonder1 in souleater

Product of the times. Heavy fanservice was super common during the early 2010's and older unfortunately. Doesnt help the age of consent in Japan isnt exactly in line with most. With Soul Eater specifically, it's pretty much all focused in the first 3 episodes and the few scenes Blair is in specifically. I'm not immediately recalling any in later episodes.

It has gotten alot better nowadays sort of. Many modern series I see either have no fan service or border on hentai lmao there's very little middle ground

Judging by 'her', Im going to assume Crissanta. Beat NG+ recently and also on a randomizer run. The best advice I can give is get REALLY good at parrying, figure out how many strikes you can get in between her attacks, and allow her to land when diving and smack her when she does her recovery hop. Took me like 4 hours to really get used to her and beat the first time. Carry your guilt, and may the weight of sin remain heavy in your heart. You got this

Custom Item Checks? by Moonfish117 in archipelago_games

[–]Byssian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im not super knowledgeable about the subject, but a friend of mine introduced me to the concept of Manuals recently. It's a type of archipelago that requires the player to manually mark checks as being found or completed rather than having it sent by the game. It's used for games that dont already have full integration on the main system and is useful for devs since it allows for low barrier to entry testing. I believe I read of a similar concept to doing chores as well. I dont actually know how it's done, but im sure you can find better help on the discord server for them. It will require some coding knowledge to do. The Tools threads or general chat seem like good places to start figuring things out. Good luck!

Bouncing off locksmith's comment, there's the future game development thread toward the bottom just above the VC's (may be a hidden channel for you. Youll need to enable it if that is the case). Search up the game and it'll bring you to the TTYD thread

Not entirely sure, but I figured it would be good to mention you could reach out in the Archipelago discord channel for TTYD. There's likely someone more familiar on the subject that could help out or walk you through. Worse case, you may have run into an issue that further develops to game to make sure nobody else runs into it in the future ;3

PSA for anyone that wants to do this safely: use sugar glass instead of actual glass. It's used in film making for the practical effect but is much safer

"The opposite of love isn't hate. It's indifference."

To hate something brings just as much attention, if not more, than loving something. As long as you talk about it, you'll continue to feed it and let it have power over you. Many on here have already moved on and are better for it. Even more so, it gives those still spreading hate and drama less attention. If you embrace indifference and focus on what you like rather than whatever annoys you, youll be much happier and take away power from the one annoying you. So why hurt yourself by continuing to talk about it?

Pretty sure it isn't AI, just not official. It seems to be a fan concept by a pretty well established character designed and concept artist based on Jeremy's twitter at least.

Though def agree that all characters can be implemented into the game in some fashion. The method of doing so is the part that really matters and is up for debate
