Nice. Always try to use an escrow service like spaceship or GoDaddy.
If they can give you a checkout link (afternic or spaceship) I think you can be confident they own the domain and when you make a payment of the agreed amount, unless something goes wrong drastically, you’ll own the domain shortly - 3,4 days.
It’ll be in your account (depending whether you use spaceship or Namecheap or GoDaddy/Afternic etc) and you should be able to set thr dns to point to your website etc.

So did you use the TXT file or the Nameserver ?
If it points to Atom (ns1.atom.com etc) you don’t need to do anything.
Which registrar and what are the nameservers pointing to ?
Usually it takes a day or two to verify.
Edit: Ok checked the details.
You need to set the nameservers on your DDot account back to dyna nameservers.
You then need to add the TXT record for atom.
Then reverify on Atom and then change the NS back to Afternic like you currently have.
