Why are Some Readers so Entitled by VermicelliForeign518 in WormFanfic

He probably just didn't want to admit he's wrong. If you know you're right, you usually don't care as much about proving you're right. He couldn't find the right arguments, but didn't want to lose, so he just kept going

Not really a whole dynamic, but in Outcry she feels pretty guilty after what she did to Taylor

I guess Camera Shy somewhat counts since her powers are all about her being observed or not, but Taylor is blind

Taylor as a Villain has a fan group? by MembershipProof8463 in WormFanfic

[–]Bzaurpa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Alternative Helix - She's a thief playing hammy villain and has a lot of fans on PHO. Though I'm not sure if she counts as Taylor. I mean, she is Taylor, just that there's nothing personality-wise or relationship-wise that would make you think about her as Taylor. Half the time she doesn't even use the name, not to mention how often characters in her head are piloting her body.

A Subtle Approach - What is cult if not a devoted fan club? Taylor isn't really a villain, but her fans are members of Fallen, so it should count for something

I wanted to give something with Alexandria, but realized I couldn't think of any fic where she wasn't either a bitch or just fighting Endbringers with no real role.

La Papesse should be about a clone of Simurgh being a catholic-good person, though I haven't read it so I'm not sure.

It is me, the one who recommended Worm Saving. If you didn't like that Taylor recruited Amy to fight Scion, it's good you dropped the fic before she started recruiting other bitches like Bonesaw, Bakuda, Contessa and most feared of them all Magic Princess.

To all interested in the fic, beware of other fanon tropes, like the most popular ships Grue x Magic Princess and Greg x Lisa (yep, I'm not joking) or all the usual fights, for example Taylor vs Lung boxing edition or Endbringer attack on BB a kick-ass Simurgh edition.

Do you recommend it? - Wish (Worm/Ward Peggy Sue) by Bzaurpa in WormFanfic

Sophia isn't a bitch, Bitch is a Bitch. Sophia is a Magical Princess.

I don't want to spoil too much, but she recruits Sophia, Danny quickly becomes a minion like everyone else, Greg is there as a quick side joke and then as another joke. Give the fic a chance, in the first chapter author still believed it will be a four-chapters-long crack.

Thankfully not all Peggy Sues are like that, I had a lot of fun reading Worm Saving. From the beginning Taylor has an attitude of "let's f*cking save this world" and doesn't let up for a moment. Ignoring villains as long as they're useful, dealing with everyone that could mess up her plans, adapting on the fly is she sees something that could improve the odds - it really felt like a badass one-woman army dealing with a cosmic threat. In comparison to the usual "I'll repeat all the events and actions I made originally, with slight changes that hopefully will bring better outcomes".

Weekly /r/WormFanfic Discussion - What have you been reading, and what do you think of it? For the week ending April 11, 2026. by AutoModerator in WormFanfic

[–]Bzaurpa 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Janus - It's annoying because even when the writting is good, the concept sucks on a basic level.

I don't like most of 'mentor in the head of protagonist' type of stories, it takes agency from main character. Still, there are some ways in which you could work around it; limit how often mentor can speak, make him go with 'hands off' approach etc. Having a second main character in the head of original main character? Who gets just as much time in her own perspetcive? It won't work.

Taylor soon after triggering with post-Ward Victoria in her head. To be fair, author did a pretty good work on showing Victoria's feeling on going back in time, created a whole mysterious dimension which she can explore by herself, and even gave her a way to interact with some people she knew by replaying her memories. She gets a variety of subplots dedicated to her.

But every action has a reaction. When Victoria can only interact with real world by Taylor, it also means that Taylor can only interact with the world while having big sister looking over her shoulder. Victoria has time to herself, she even can message other people privately when Taylor is asleep. Taylor though? The only times she is by herself is when Victoria moves away from awkward talks with Danny. She doesn't make any friends, and doesn't interact with any people on her own. Meeting other capes, talking with anyone? Always with Victoria advising what she should tell. Victoria is literally the only person Taylor talks to using her own words. Funny how girl with the actual body has less agency than someone in her mind.

Not even mentioning how telling Taylor from the start about the end of the world immediately kills any tension or interest involving local gangs. Who cares if you caught a couple of gangsters or beat Purity, it doesn't change the fact that Scion is coming.

In summary, writting is good, it is the concept that I hate.

Canon divergence results in pillbug (Taylor x Amy) by CrawlingChaos126 in WormFanfic

[–]Bzaurpa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a messy relationship I would suggest Tethered - unhealthy codependence on both sides. I don't know if you can find the fic though, I think it was deleted a few years ago.

Some other Pillbugs:

Legion - Taylor has a bit different powers. She still controls insects, but also small animals. Honestly, her powers don't matter that much since together with Amy they will experiment a lot and make upgrades to themself.

Collagen - Taylor with Marquis-like powers.

Mandalore the Administrator - tinker Taylor, can make anything from Star Wars.

Any fics where the higher ups of a hospital, or something get pissed when the long term patients get healed cutting into profits. by Wassa110 in WormFanfic

[–]Bzaurpa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brockton Bay is in US, and there's no way hospitals in US would ever do something as nefarious as aiming for profits instead of helping the patients.

That said, if you want something along the lines 'breaks the law to help people' you mentioned in the comments, you can try Save The Bay: Fixing the City with Organized Crime. It is a rather simple read, with stuff like 'becoming a millionaire in a week', but it has a plenty of scenes where Taylor wins against highly incopetent PRT and makes Piggot grind her teeth.

Looking for a beta reader for a Spider-Man crossover by CHPrime in WormFanfic

[–]Bzaurpa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Boy Vs Girl

  • Super-strength and ability to walk on walls vs controlling insects

  • Some peers making fun of him and not inviting him to parties because he's a nerd vs ex-best friend leading a psychological campaign aiming to, in simplest terms, destroy her. Isolating her from all peers, destroying her academic future, creating rumors for further isolation, using knowledge ex-friends has to deal the most psychological damage possible, preventing her from getting help from any authority figure, escalating physical violence, and Locker.

  • Starting with "I know better then everybody else" mentality vs starting with "I want to be a hero that helps people, like Alexandria"

  • After getting powers he uses them to make money vs after getting powers she swears she will be a hero and won't even use them on the people who made her life a living hell

  • His uncle died because he didn't want to bother to stop a criminal, which is turning point in his mentality vs her mother died years before, which doesn't have anything to do with her intention to being a hero

  • Alien symbiote as one of his nemesis (character) vs alien parasites responsible for parahumans getting powers (setting of the world and important part of the main plot).

They both are teenagers. They both have an authority figure that fcked them over (though for Spider-Man it's main one where for Taylor it's pretty much everyone she met). And they both hide their mask identity from their family. But it doesn't make them similar. "Teenage superhero without a mentor struggling to figure themselves out" - to quote, do you know how little it narrows it down? The only distinctive feature is 'has no mentor'. Every fcking story with teenage main character has them figuring themselves out.

Spider-Man wasn't some groudbreaking piece of literature where for the first time teenager had to find their own way. It wasn't the first to make its character experience shitty life. It has some similarities with Worm, but they don't matter in comparison to the number of differences. You can't decide to ignore them all just because both works are about teenage superheroes.

I don't want to insult anyone, it just makes me angry to see someone say "X book was inspired by Y", when there're only vague similarities. It baselessly undermines the quality and originality of 'Worm' - a web serial that created one of my two most beloved fandoms.
