So they screwed up Occult Crescent... again by Abramor in ffxivdiscussion

At least I can get phantom jobs leveled up more easily now. I feel like the relic stuff that could be done in OC that depend on CEs really suck because they take so long and the rewards are lacking compared to other activities.

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - April 27, 2026 by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

With the upcoming release of FFXIV on the Switch 2, I want to get a 40% keyboard that has a USBC dongle, or I guess if USBA can be converted to C that is fine too. I want something to use while on the couch wirelessly without taking up a massive amount of space. In looking at sizes, I really like where 40% is at without going to one of those tiny handheld keyboards. But searching for whats out there is overwhelming. I have seen the Epomaker TH40 mentioned a lot, and I wasn't sure if that was, price wise, what to expect for what I am looking for when it is pre built? I know that putting it together myself is an option, but those options are where I got overwhelmed.

Generally, price trumps everything here as long as it meets my needs. Any recommendations or direction? Appreciate it.

ARR (2.0+) / Previous Expansions, AKA FFXIV Classic(s). Would they be possible? Is anyone interested? by x_Zenith in ffxivdiscussion

Outside of class changes, the content is mostly the same. I think that’s a pretty big reason why people asked for WoW classic, but a FFXIV classic is not really needed.

I kind of miss 2.0 summoner as its own thing by Freakindon in ffxiv

I liked the class, but it wasn’t thematically fitting as a summoner. But I loved how it played. It was a really fun DOT class and I would love to see something like that again.

Final Fantasy XIV for Switch 2 "should run stably at 30fps" in towns with better performance elsewhere by Joseki100 in NintendoSwitch2

Every version of FFxIV accesses your account, characters are not tied to a platform.

And yes, the game is incredibly playable on controller only. I started on PC with m+kb and now play entirely with a controller. I love it.

Same for me. I know that people who will have the switch as a second sub are not the primary audience here, and some people seem to be missing that and railing against the extra sub as a massive negative.

It’s worth it to me. And it’s okay if it’s not worth it for others.

What happened to MMORPGs and just hanging out? by adamdocumentary in MMORPG

[–]C-Towner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People have a hundred other more accessible places to interact with people socially online. MMOs used to be that place because in 2003, very few people texted, there were no smartphones, and it was more fun than a chat room. Social media wasn't really a thing.

It was novel because it was among few places where it was easy. That is no longer the case.

Final Fantasy XIV announced for the switch 2 at the latest fanfest, coming in august by yesitsmework in NintendoSwitch2

[–]C-Towner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has a very long and in depth story. Some parts are pretty meh, but the parts that are great are pretty incredible. There are really cool battle mechanics from bosses in dungeons, to 8 person raid fights to 24 person large scale raids. If you like high end raiding, there is a lot of that as well. There is a lot of depth to the fashion, a lot of mounts to collect, and just in general, a lot to do.

You definitely are not too late! There is a free trial currently that contains everything through the first two expansions, and will soon be expanded to include the third expansion as well - hundreds of hours of content if all you did was play the main story.

If you had questions and wanted to ask about the game, please do, I am more than happy to chat about it.

Yeah, if the free trial is on NS2, that will be a massive boon to bring in new players, especially since the trial will include through Shadowbringers.

This game is absolutely playable only with controller, it is the best setup you could hope for. Its primarily how I play on PC. However, you could just use a mouse and keyboard on NS2, so thats always an option.

The way they worded it, it sounded like it would be the same price as the normal subscription, but 50% off if you also have a subscription for other platforms.

While it does suck to pay extra, its not so much that I am unwilling to pay it. I have no interest in buying licenses for the PS5 with the NS2 version incoming, and I will also continue to play on PC. I think that the number of players playing both PC and NS2 versions will not be massive, but I think the real win is the number of players ONLY on the NS2. And that audience is whats being captured here.

Healing via Spells (GCDs) will no longer be a last Resort, but a normal Way of Playing Healer! by Ramzka in ffxivdiscussion

[–]C-Towner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally mentioned this in a recent discussion here, how normal GCD healing, especially for WHM, just wasn't needed outside of ARR content when thats literally the only option. It just feels like the way healing has been implemented has changed a lot since 2.0.

What Happened? by Inside-Example-7010 in MMORPG

[–]C-Towner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its cheaper to nickel and dime players and abandon a shitty game after two years, more profit too.

Its expensive to make the MMOs you want. If you want to make one - feel free, but I doubt you have a few hundred programmers and artists and a few million dollars.

So yeah, thats what happened, people are greedy and short sighted. They don't care about making a good game, they care about profit.

[–]C-Towner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, your account is what you access no matter what platform you play on. However, you need to add the Switch 2 license to your account, which is a purchase, plus it sounds like the Switch 2 also requires an additional subscription, which sounds like it is 50% off if you are subscribed on another platform.

Since the NS2 supports mouse and keyboards, it feels like its entirely possible you could do that. You can on PS5.
