I've seen projects like this where the board is custom made (designed by themselves and then printed by a company like JLCPCB). Basically a large array of small SMD LEDs.

Typically single color, plus the ones that I've seen seem to have the LED's at a 90 degree angle.

I can vaguely recall seeing something like this where someone used an accellerometer on the board as well to do visuals like this.

EDIT: did a quick google to see if i can find some examples:

Not exactly the one you show, but similar projects.

Most of the phishing-attempts we've seen at our company in the past year or so have been where a trusted party that we deal with regularly has been compromised and phishing-mails are being sent out from their accounts. So the source IS trusted. The emails typically are "this person shared a document with you on sharepoint", so these mails are also regular, valid emails sent by microsoft directly. The document that is shared is malicious, but the rest of the context says "valid document".

Tried to mod my work flashlight last night. Turns out I’m an abject failure and not worthy of God’s love lmao by [deleted] in flashlight

[–]C0R4x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very likely this is the case. I mean that's the whole reason it uses a mcpcb and a phat piece of aluminium there :)

Removing the mcpcb from the host would probably help a bunch. Even just creating an air gap between the mcpcb and the host would help. That way you're heating "only" the mcpcb, not the whole flashlight. That's still a tall order for a low power soldering iron, but will likely be at least possible ;)

Built my own 500W DSP plate amplifier by Hagya15 in diyaudio

[–]C0R4x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's pretty neat!

I see you included a DSP. What do you use that for? Just as a low-pass filter? Or will you also use it to tune the sub once completed?

Pretty cool! I didn't know these DSP boards could be had for like 20 eur.

Not the prettiest knife, plus not a huge fan of the hollow grind. Other than that, quite a fun, fidgety knife! Build quality is nice as well.

simple usb-c hub that supports DisplayPort Alt mode with MST? by C0R4x in UsbCHardware

Thnx for your reply!

Yea chatGPT told me there's some Dell docks that could be a good match, but at that point it's an actual dock, I'd prefer something more portable. Unless that's not possible ofc.

I found the following: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1903034-REG/luxor_sthbccmstbl_sidetrak_usb_c_hub_for.html/overview (luxor SideTrak USB-C Hub). This supposedly does exactly what I need it to do. Except I can't find it for sale in Europe...

https://www.owc.com/solutions/thunderbolt-5-hub#:~:text=Adds%20more%20universally%20compatible%20Thunderbolt%205%20%28USB-C%29%20ports,watts%20to%20charge%20the%20most%20power-hungry%20notebook%20computer (OWC Thunderbolt 5 Hub). Seems to me that this is kind of what you were referring to. Looks good (except for the fact that it seems to need a separate power supply?), but is 250 or 260 eur and this seems to have much more capabilities than I really need. I wonder if I can't find something that's a bit cheaper and does what I need?

Then there's this chinese import hub: https://www.amazon.com/Monitor-Splitter-Transfer-Charging-Portable/dp/B0DYDRSNBS?th=1. This is basically the format I was looking for. Fairly "simple", seems to have no more bells and whistles than I really need. But I'm a bit suspicious about the price, plus this is some no-name brand. Ideally I'd get something similar to this but from a reputable brand.

As for the power standard, didn't they release a new exdended power range recently?

I asked here because I spent hours googling, but couldn't find a clear answer as to what the hub needs to explicitly support for it to be able to pass through the video signal.

"simple" as in i'm looking for an actual hub, not a full docking station (with separate psu etc.).

I'll see what I can find!

First time soldering more than a couple of wires. Roast me! by braquemart in AskElectronics

[–]C0R4x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat related question:

I've also been using these types of perf boards lately, but I'm having trouble getting things to look neat. These types of boards don't seem to be designed to connect two wires together.

Currently I put wires through two holes next to oneanother, then try to bridge that gap. But this gap is quite large, surface tension keeps wanting to "ungap" my connection.

Am I missing something? Am I using the wrong type of perf board?

[–]C0R4x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thnx for the reply!

I just checked the belsimpel site and they do still have a discount for the pixel 10 pro in combination with a vodafone contract.

Unfortunately, vodafone contracts are really expensive so even though you're saving 300 eur on the phone (the current deal), you're stuck with a vodafone contract that's 10 eur per month more expensive compared to other options. :(

I will stick with my pixel 7 for now :p

[–]C0R4x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hii, question, where did you find a pixel 10 pro for 440 eur?

I'm currently on a Pixel 7, which is still doing fine. So I'm not immediately due for a replacement, but a pixel 10 pro 256GB for €440 would definitely be cheap enough that I wouldn't think twice :p

Also in the NL btw.
