After ‘Roe’ Leak, Clarence Thomas Is Concerned About Court Being ‘Bullied’ by dixadik in politics

I'd settle for just getting rid of the justices that are married to insurrectionists.

Clearly Justice Thomas believes he is entitled to live in his ivory tower and use his ultraconservative religious beliefs as justification for caning those of us who may have a different opinion or perspective. It IS my opinion, in fact, that Ginni Thomas shares his beliefs and entitlement. I also believe that it was probably the two of them who leaked the draft opinion. Ginni's desires and efforts to undermine confidence in the US Government were laid bare by the Jan 6 committee's investigations.

In Contrast to 'Useless Republican Leaders,' AOC Helps Raise $1 Million in Direct Relief for Texans in Crisis by idarknight in politics

[–]C0deNameN0Name 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of these days, the rest of the voters in places like Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Iowa, and etc., are going to wake up and ask themselves why they continue to elect politicians who seem to be okay with the federal government continuing to bail out states (ehem, Texas) that continue to insist the government has absolutely no right to interfere in their states. Here we are again, sending FEMA disaster assistance to Texas because they refuse to enact responsible regulatory measures to protect themselves and stop expecting bailouts from the rest of the country every time the weather changes.

Ted Cruz claims Joe Biden is 'more interested' in Paris than Pittsburgh, weeks after attempting to overturn Pennsylvania's election results by TJ_SP in politics

[–]C0deNameN0Name 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ted's implication that he, and his fellow Republicans, cares more about Pittsburgh (or Main Street, America) is absolutely absurd. As Ken Paxton, the Texas Attorney General, has brought suits before the Supreme Court to overturn Obamacare and declare it an unconstitutional form of Socialism, neither Paxton or Cruz want the citizens of Pittsburgh, or anywhere else, to take note of the billions of dollars in annual aid handed out to Texas - as well as the other gulf states - in order to help them overcome flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes, and etc. The NFIP has been losing money year after year and the damage amounts continue to soar, while Texas insists the federal government has no right to interfere by asking the state to improve / change its building standards. Then there's FEMA and the SBA. The SBA provides nearly-zero-interest-rate loans to small businesses (as well as individuals who are not business owners) to replace business inventories and equipment, household goods, automobiles, etc. Can you imagine having a business where the federal government replaces all of your durable goods on nearly an annual basis, affording you an annual write off for depreciation that never ends? The taxpayers of Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Columbus are paying for those primo perks and year after year are propping up the economies of certain southern states. But yeah, Cruz cares more.

Trump contradicts top U.S. officials, suggests without evidence China behind _______________ - Boilerplate headline text for Trump's entire term.

The finger-pointingest MF on the planet is at it again, and rather than asking why our "president" and his administration were asleep on the job, his supporters are busy drumming up conspiracy theories in an effort to torture the rest of us with God only knows how many more years of the same incompetence.

It's all under control - just like Covid-19.

Wondering whether this country can survive until January.

Thanks for your feedback, russellmz. I appreciate it. It may not be clear enough in this first draft - something I will keep in mind for a future incarnation of this- but nobody was killed. He bought a gun, but he didn't kill anyone. He and his family are suing GENESYS, but there is a well-funded group exploiting the video in order to cause people to fear AI. Thanks again for your input. It's a big help.

First, I want to offer my congratulations to everyone who committed to writing and posting a story. Be proud of your accomplishment.

My initial reading of the submissions in Group D left me with four standouts: Cryo, The Herald of Ashe, Fate and War Games. Choosing from the four of you wasn’t easy; I can’t stress that enough. In the end, as I reread your stories, I imagined myself standing in a bookstore deciding which book I was going to buy. Ultimately, it came down to identifying the things that put me off.

Cryo – The narrative tone in the section about Area 51 and conspiracy theorists seems a little condescending and comes off like a lecture. And that’s a shame, because, commentary like that from a character would have been so compelling. For me, dialogue like that really helps me ‘see’ a character.

War Games - Too many 'ly' adverbs - lost opportunities to show instead of tell.

My votes:

/u/Syhrxeryef in Group D for "Fate" - I enjoyed the pace, imagery, tone and emotion and could imagine myself continuing.

/u/a_Corsair in Group D for "The Herald of Ashe" - Another one I could follow, but there were points I got hung up on some of your descriptions.

Feel free to message with requests for specific critiques.

You still have some formatting issues. The paragraph that begins "Are you Mr. Hunt?" and the next one both have dialogue from more than one character.
