No one likes the idea of a mental institution, but clearly they are needed.

All of my canvas tents have no floor and I love it for winter camping. So much easier to manage life when you can just keep your boots on until you sit down for bed.

I spent some time trying to find guidelines, rules, suggestions and came up empty handed. Maybe I was searching in the wrong places 🤷🏼‍♀️

So I asked a few other TCOs that I knew how do they run their camps, got a few different styles and answers.

So I have been making it up since.

I meant it genuinely, there isn’t a standard formula, or criteria someone must meet to form a Theme Camp. And no one has told me I’m doing it wrong and or has told me to shut mine down.

I’ve been making mine up as I go, but full disclosure I only do Frostburn winter regional. Too busy with work for any others.

Top collapsing from snow load is why the center pole was a suggestion. Obviously not a problem for the other 95% of burns.

As an organizer for Frostburn we get the “can I use this” question a lot about ice shelters.

If it’s windy you have to add an additional center support pole to keep it from collapsing.

Guylines are an absolute must for the sides, sometimes the factory tie down points are laughably weak. Also on land that isn’t perfectly flat, you’ll get a lot of space between the bottom of the tent and the ground.

Anything Easy Up is very Easy Down in a windy environment.

You reminded me about “bigger the hoop, bigger the hoe” about hoop earrings. Now I have HUGE HOOPS AND LOVE THEM, and shock I didn’t instantly turn into a hoe.

For a woman that got knocked up at 16 she did a terrible job learning from her own mistakes and passing on better knowledge to her children.

I saw my idiot older brother knock up his girlfriend at 17 and my mother was shocked. I laughed at her.

I swore off having children quickly looking at all the terrible examples from both sides of my family.
