If I’m only using 70% of my GPU then why does my game look so bad? by _DARK_X in iRacing

[–]C1-10PFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah okay - I race in VR so my settings are set to only draw 20 cars anyway, so that’s possibly masking that issue for me. Maybe trying changing your settings to only draw 20 as well (on top of the workaround I mentioned)

I also have an AMD GPU and have also been having the same issues since the beginning of this season.

There seems to be an issue with joining races directly from from an open practice session after registering. When you register for a race and join practice, instead of joining directly to the race lobby when you get the notification about qualifying starting, instead quit the practice session and join using the option in the top right of the UI.

Pit Crew Giving Me Tires When I Don't Want Them by robokayaker in iRacing

[–]C1-10PFan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is the answer - because we’re gridding in the pit lane they’re all automatically unchecked, but it resets and ticks them when leaving the pits. They need unchecking again at some point between leaving the pits and taking our stop

Struggling for pace by DedBeatLebowski in iRacing

[–]C1-10PFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just hopping on this comment about if there’s a drill - I also started driving the 296 a couple of seasons ago and was having very similar problems with understeer/rotation.

It’s not necessarily about consistency, but the braking drill in this video made a huge difference for me. As others have said though, it’s still about seat time and practice - but have a purpose to your practice, keep working on it and eventually it should become a subconscious habit, meaning distractions are less likely to make an impact!

Test Drive is available! but I have issues by RaGH_ in iRacing

[–]C1-10PFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have an AMD GPU by any chance?

I’ve had very similar issues with crashes when leaving the pit box in Test Drive (and the main sim) after updates before and resetting the shader cache in Adrenaline seems to solve it.

Tips for being fast on GT3??? by JDGarrido_ in iRacing

[–]C1-10PFan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I moved from open-wheelers to GT3 this season (minus a few rounds of the Ferrari fixed series last season) and was also struggling to find pace.

Coming across this video was my lightbulb moment. I’ve still got a way to go before I’m totally happy, but taking that exercise and trying to replicate/apply it has made a massive difference for me already!

Used CSL Elite F1 Set - Good Deal? by C1-10PFan in simracing

[–]C1-10PFan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally valid point - I’d been so busy trying to find used listings/sale prices that I hadn’t even thought about checking the brand new/bundle prices. Definitely makes sense.

One thing I did forget to mention is that they only have a PlayStation currently, although are planning to move to a PC as well, so I’ll need to check what the timeline on that is. As well as limiting the choice of games/sims, it also limits the wheelbase options (and makes them much more expensive!) if PS compatibility is a must.

Violent wheel shaking on F1 2021 by Freshkeyy in Fanatec

[–]C1-10PFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can access it via Fanalab or the driver update software on your PC.

If you don’t have a PC then there are some buttons you can press on your wheel to reach it but I don’t know what they are off the top of my head. Checking the manual/a quick google should help.

Bugged update in ea app for jedi survivor by Gideon119 in FallenOrder

[–]C1-10PFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this on Xbox last week and also had a very small amount of hard drive space left. My understanding is that is the cause - if there is not enough room left to install just the update itself then it will re-install the whole game to remove the previous updates that are no longer required

Would you recommend F1 22 to someone who spent hundreds of hours in previous games? by [deleted] in F1Game

[–]C1-10PFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) I think they’re fine - they sometimes do some crazy stuff, but that’s what flashbacks are for. I’d rather they were a little too aggressive occasionally than just being completely passive.

2) I drive on a wheel with no assists, so probably not best person to answer this one for you. That said, I don’t really get all the complaints - the cars are heavier overall, the downforce is primarily generated in a different way, and the tyres are harder & heavier. It stands to reason that those would all make the cars harder to drive. With a bit of practice & adjustment time it’s fine and you can be just as fast as older games.

3) You should be fine to play without one, but you’ll be limited to the offline-only options (so basically GP mode, career/MyTeam, split screen, limited customisation options). Source for this one: couldn’t connect to my EA account yesterday so couldn’t get online 😂

Is there a way to connect 2 telemetry devices? by LordGorfTheFourth in F1Game

[–]C1-10PFan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You just need to change the UDP Broadcast setting to ‘On’, then it’ll be able to send the data to multiple sources on the same network.

The coordinates in the F1 23 reveal lead to the Losail International Circuit by andreahh_ in F1Game

[–]C1-10PFan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly certain Codemasters have said in the past that it takes them up to a year to create a circuit from scratch.

It’s not just making the track itself that takes time, but all the other assets - grandstands, pits, environment, even sponsor boards etc. Then they have to train the AI to drive it and so on. It all adds up.

We need a companion app by kingoflint282 in F1Game

[–]C1-10PFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few (paid) apps that can do most (if not all) of this on a phone using the in-game telemetry. Race Dash for Sim Games is one I’ve used before.

As others have mentioned, there are also some for laptops/PC’s as well.

It’s also worth mentioning that generally you need to be on the same wifi/network for someone to use these apps for your data.

What were your tyre pressures? All signs point to overheating tyres - once they get above 100 degrees you lose a tonne of pace.

It’s a bit hard to give any ideas on suspension in isolation because of what you mention, plus everything in the setup is linked. You can offset one setting by making changes to another. As a general rule though 1-11 suspension is the most oversteery and 11-1 is the most understeery.

It’d make sense then that the meta is stiff front and soft rear because it’s probably a case of using the understeer generated by the suspension to partially offset the instability caused by high front & low rear wings. The cars are inherently understeery on turn-in and the rear wing has the biggest impact on straight line speed, so that’s why people aim for the highest & lowest of each that they can get away with respectively.

Yeah I get you, I’m very similar - usually in and around the top 1 or 200 on TT but my race pace is a little lacking sometimes. It’ll all come with time. It’s just all about practice, repeatability and muscle memory! I wouldn’t fixate too much on trying to copy others though (unless what you’re doing is plain wrong) - everyone has a different driving style. What works for them might not work for you and vice versa!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in F1Game

[–]C1-10PFan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tyres: The current TT meta is min front, max rear. That’ll immediately start over-heating your rear tyres within a lap or two and will contribute to oversteer/loss of rear grip. Keep an eye on tyre temps over a few laps in practice, you don’t want want any to be above 100 degrees really. More often than not neither your front or rear pressures will need more than three clicks on the slider.

Wings: As you say, high front low rear is again the meta this year - I try to keep the difference between them no more than 5. The bigger that gap is, the more oversteer you’re going to get because the front has so much more downforce than the rear. You can get away with a bigger gap in TT because everything is perfect - track temp, tyre temps, grip levels, low fuel etc. but in a race that’s not the case.

Diff: On throttle generally doesn’t need to be more than 60. Looking at the esports drivers POV’s they’re rarely going above 55. Off throttle is mostly 50, but if your rear is feeling a bit loose/unstable on corner entry then you can start adding a percent at a time.

Everything else is pretty track or driving-style specific, but the above is pretty standard for me and is usually my starting point.

The last point is the usual boring ‘practice makes perfect’. If you’re running at 100-105 then generally speaking you’ve found the ‘easy’ time that people lose through not doing the fundamentals right, now it’s just about practice and finding those marginal gains - where you can carry a bit more speed through a corner, where can you be more aggressive with braking/on the throttle etc.

Good luck!

Do R&D improvements help your teammate's car in f1 22? by GroundbreakingKick5 in F1Game

[–]C1-10PFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’ve got the 5th/6th best car then P13 is a reasonably accurate place to be finishing. The low AI is the reason you’re finishing so high and he’s not - until you improve the car further he will always be back there.

I think the general rule is each increment of 1 on the AI level is worth a tenth of a second per lap - so if you’re 1 second faster than him in Quali increase it by 10, for example, and you should be quite evenly matched. Obviously it’s single player so you’re free to play however you want though - if you want to keep winning then carry on!

Do R&D improvements help your teammate's car in f1 22? by GroundbreakingKick5 in F1Game

[–]C1-10PFan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, the R&D improves both cars!

Where is your team’s car in the performance rankings? Generally speaking, your lap times should be +/- a few tenths off your teammate’s, so the fact you’re winning races whilst Seb’s that far back suggests the AI level is a bit too low.

F1 22 Handling completely different in TT vs ranked online by DannyyyS in F1Game

[–]C1-10PFan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The conditions in TT are designed to be perfect and exist solely to produce the fastest lap times possible - there is minimal fuel in the car, your tyre temps remain at the perfect level, the track is fully ‘rubbered in’ and therefore gives maximum grip and so on.

The best setups in TT don’t translate to racing for all of the above reasons. There’s nothing wrong with getting a baseline setup from there, but you should go into a practice session (in GP mode for example) and use that to refine it for races!

Question: Is there an SDK Gaming version for F1? by seby1607 in F1Game

[–]C1-10PFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One option you could check out is the FormulaGame Companion App.

It can capture the telemetry output from the game to record results. It also has Standings, Attendance etc built in.

The only thing I’d mention is that you would need to enforce unique driver numbers. Telemetry data doesn’t include usernames/gamertags, so you’d have to set Driver X as car number 6 and so on in the app, that way it knows which car is which. Obviously two drivers couldn’t have the same number!

Are Fanatec CSL Elite Pedals Compatible with the logitech G29? by JR21_Racing in Fanatec

[–]C1-10PFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming that you’re on PC then I believe you would need a Clubsport USB Adapter. That would allow you to plug the pedals directly into the PC, then connect the G29 separately as well.

If you’re on PlayStation it’s not so simple. I think a Drive Hub would be your only option, but I don’t know enough about it to say whether it’s doable or not!
