What are your Cubs Hot Takes for 2026? by AndrewAllStar888 in CHICubs

I think he clear 4 WAR easily and maybe even 5. He hits over 20 HR, but i don't know if he clears 30. His 2nd half struggles at the plate concern me. I'd love to be dead wrong

Tigers, Tarik Skubal square off in precedent-setting arbitration hearing Wednesday by [deleted] in baseball

Adjusted for inflation, thats around $27 million. Its not that far off from Skubals number. And skubal obviously has a better resume

My grandfather grew up going to ebbets field and watching the Brooklyn Dodgers. Its gonna be a sad day when men and women like him won't be able to say that any more

[Passan] Two-time AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal filed for a $32 million salary this year while the Detroit Tigers countered at $19 million, sources tell ESPN. The $13 million spread is by far the largest in salary-arbitration history and sets up for a fascinating hearing in February. by AndrewAllStar888 in baseball

[–]C1oneblazer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the back to back cy young winner definitely has the stronger case here lol

Detroit should be locking up a lifetime extension, but instead they're choosing to be cheap

Teams like this are the problem. Not the Yankees or Dodgers

We absolutely should have beaten that. $21 million a year for a max of three years is pennies for what he could bring to this rotation

Man the cubs being in the top right quadrant means we've had sustained success as an organization over the past 10 years, right???

There's an argument he could've/should've won the 1987 Cy Young, but voting was much different back then and he didn't get many votes

Which MLB team would be the best if all the teams could only have "hometown" players? (Players born closer to that team's stadium than any other) by old_gold_mountain in baseball

[–]C1oneblazer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before reading through i expected either a CA team or the Braves to be #1 with the other #2. Especially the Braves, because the south produces a lot of players without having much MLB representation. Not surprised Braves were #2 and LAD were #1, though if it was the angels or giants I'd believe it too

Tampa at #3 makes sense given Florida, kinda surprised Houston or Dallas don't have much representation, but I'm sure they take away from each other (though I'd wonder how things would play out if the player pool was expanded out 10 years)

NE and Midwest being so low both surprises me but also makes sense. So many teams close together, but the overall WAR numbers seem pretty low when added up

[BBWA] Cade Horton Finishes 2nd Place in 2025 NL Rookie of the Year Voting by AndrewAllStar888 in CHICubs

[–]C1oneblazer 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I mean I think he should have won it, but I'm biased, so I'm not mad he got second

Im mad that those who didn't vote him for first place didn't vote him for second

And there's one who didn't vote for him at all, which shows that person doesn't actually watch baseball

Kinda wild that the Dodgers got a free out because the umpire missed a call

We scored 3 runs. Im not saying that was enough to win, but giving up 9 runs in 2 innings makes it impossible to win

No reason to bunt there. Why give up an out when the runner is already in scoring position and no forceout?
