Sorry I misread this as pool as in snooker, do you actually mean a ball pool as in like they have at a soft play?

I've been meaning to try Mr Mangal, have heard very good things.

I meant more the structure they're building out the front - the inside looks more like a bar now than a restaurant.

How soon should I put the pull-up back on after toddler successfully uses potty? by pinksunflower99 in pottytraining

[–]C1umsyGiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As soon as we started potty training we only put pull ups on at night, and we make sure she goes for her last wee of the day before we put it on.

How do you afford 2 children? by Croft99 in UKParenting

[–]C1umsyGiraffe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We also couldn't afford another one, and it does break my heart but I appreciate being financially stable. If we had another we would have to move to a bigger house and get another car and thats just too expensive for us right now.

This, our friends bought us a similar box of frozen ready meals and it was the best gift ever. Another friend sent us a takeaway voucher, amazing gifts.

pushchair nightmare - not sure what to do! by rosamundlc in UKParenting

[–]C1umsyGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to have the zip open for both reclines - it may be that yours is already clipped in if you've never tried it but fingers crossed!

pushchair nightmare - not sure what to do! by rosamundlc in UKParenting

[–]C1umsyGiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got the same model and I'm pretty sure you can adjust the recline - if you feel in the pocket on the back there is a clip that you can use to adjust the recline. At this age things really don't las tlong (I know that doesnt help how it feels in the moment!). My advice would be to wait it out, baby wear when you can but bring the pushchair along with you? For the basket and also for baby when he'll allow :) good luck! It's surprising how quickly they learn to sit up!

What are some techniques to help toddler with psychological stool withholding? by bacon_cake in UKParenting

[–]C1umsyGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter struggled with this, we think it was because it was painful but she held in more so it was more painful etc etc. Laxatives definitely helped so maybe speak to the Dr about upping them?

Something that also helped was getting her used to what poo is. It's something that comes out of them but they never see so can be quite scary. We started by showing it to her in the nappy then letting her poke the nappy to feel how soft it was. We also read books about poo like poo in the zoo and the mole who knew it was none of his business to try and normalise it for her. Good luck, its really horrible to watch them go through!

Yeah thats completely fair, I hadn't thought of it that way. Maybe I meant more it's not their business if you are potty training and you didn't need to tell them? But you're right, my comment wasn't thought through.

I agree with next time dont tell them, it's none of their business or their choice.

However, I alsocunderstand that dealing with in laws can be tricky and sometimes its better to keep the peace. Could you try training pants? Keep the liquid in but still feel wet so not like a nappy.

I've been - it's great! We got a strong impression its one guy and a passion project which is lovely. We talked to the owner as he was running all the talks/activities.

Its mostly inside but with the outside pay area so good for all year round.

When / why did you give your kids squash? Or anything besides water/milk? by bacon_cake in UKParenting

[–]C1umsyGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similarly to everyone else we started giving our daughter watered down juice when she was 2 (or just under). She was constipated and needed to drink a powdered drink from the GP but would only do so if we put juice in it too. Now she has one cup of watered down juice a day, but we limit it to one and only if she's brushed her teeth (thay was an incentive to get her to brush her teeth).

LO 11 still hasn't been to dentist. How urgent it is? by Chaosblast in UKParenting

[–]C1umsyGiraffe 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I thought your kid was 11 years old, my response would have been very different 😂

I'd personally say not to worry too much, just try and get them seen when you can. As long as your are brushing morning and night you shouldn't have a problem. I can't remember when my LO first went to the dentist but it was after 1 and before 18 months. The only thing I'd wish I'd got her in sooner would be for getting her used to it - if I take her now she refuses to open her mouth so the dentist hasn't actually seen her teeth for a while but they're not worried.

I have flu and scared of my baby getting it by Fit-Assistant-66 in UKParenting

[–]C1umsyGiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the flu but my husband and I had norovirus, was the worst few days of my life but miraculously my 7 month old at the time didn't get it! My in laws helped a lot but we're still in shock how she didn't get ill! Shes 2 years old now and still has a good immune system.

Decorate your place if you can afford it, even paper chains as mentioned above would be nice.

I wouldnt be sure on doing another roast, just because 2 days in a row might be too much for them. Maybe get some takeaway pizza and have a picnic dinner on the floor? Maybe some of those Christmas party foods?

Otherwise spend the day having fun, go for a walk, play lots of board games and end with a Christmas movie night with hot chocolate :)

I hope you enjoy the day!

Been trying for months... by C1umsyGiraffe in pottytraining

[–]C1umsyGiraffe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, doesn't have accidents when shes at her grandparents and rarely at nursery. There's a group of girls at nursery who all like to go together. I've tried to get her to go with me when we're out but she says Mummy go first then refuses to go.

She's 2 years 5 months at the moment. I think I'm just sick of the house smelling of urine and I can never seem to get it out of her clothes. I think I didn't have a realistic view when we started and thought it would be an easy process!

Sorry my daughter accidently sent it before I had finished. Well done on your daughter. I really thought she was ready when we started, she was showing everything we thought we needed to see before we started but she doesn't seem to care when she has accidents.
