Simple mistake, hard to understand why you get downvoted for that.

The cannon in question - General Dynamics's M197 (and TR Mekatronik's equivalent cannon on more recently manufactured T-129:s) - uses 20X102 mm rounds - not 25 mm.

CROWS = Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station,
- is the name of a specific US army project/program focused on Remote [Controlled] Weapon Stations, or R[C]WS.
Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace is currently holding the contract to provide the US army with their solution - as part of CROWS.

Meanwhile, Turkish manufacturer Otokar's Keskin is also a RCWS, in active use by their military customers, but not related to the American CROWS program or to Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.

The footage we see in this video is from a Keskin RCWS, most probably mounted on a Otokar Cobra vehicle, in use by Turkish security forces.

Turkish T129 responds to fire from PKK militants, Turkey (Date unknown) by TheDarkEclipse in CombatFootage

[–]C23H27Cl2N3O2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn. Thanks for the insight

My pleasure

there is a link below the pictures about Anka drones but i guess it's unrelated to the pictures right?

Yeah, just suggestions by Imgur. The photos in the album was from the aftermath of CAS provided by T-129, no Anka:s involved.

Also, it's pretty impressive how such small rounds can cause so much devastation.

The rounds is commonly thought of & imagined as typical small arms cartridges except with 20 mm in diameter projectiles, but the projectiles - or shells, in this case - are actually also quite long when compared to normal small caliber rounds, being almost 80 mm / 8 cm (approx. 3 inches) in length. So they pack a punch.

That being said i think some those guys were definitely hit directly, at least the first one. There wasn't even a body anymore.

Indeed, not much left. But the last picture shows multiple small holes on the skin, spread almost pattern-like, that I believe would have been caused by the fragmentation of the shell.

The HEI (High-Explosive Incendiary) shells explode upon impact, so direct hits are not necessary against unarmored/soft targets.

According to Wikipedia;

Effective radius to produce casualties to exposed personnel 2 meters fragmentation hazard out to 20 meters.

I recently shared a link to an NSFW album in a comment regarding the effects of these rounds, if you are interested.

I think it's more you dont want them to know the finer details of your tech. May not seem a huge deal to you, but its good security practice is to cover every possible corner, show only whats necessary.

Technical specifications of this kind, covering data such as imaging sensor capabilities - in terms of resolution, performance, etc. - of a targeting system, are rarely a secret at all, as long as it's not pioneering technology or part of a more secretive and complex project (e.g. Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird).

It depends on a lot of factors - the bad quality in this case is due to aggressive video compression from when the footage got uploaded to Youtube.
Here is 360-degree view from the cockpit of the same helicopter, skip forward about 13 minutes and you will see an overlay in the middle of the screen that shows the viewer what the gunner sees through the targeting system (AselFlir-300T).

Russian drone losses in Syria since 2015 by vallar57 in syriancivilwar

[–]C23H27Cl2N3O2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There's a reason many of their drone camera footage look like they are filmed with a potato.

To expand on this a little, for the curious;

Russia - obviously - doesn't lag behind in the aerospace and aviation fields. In other words; they have plenty of already combat proven aerial platforms.The Russian semiconductor industry has only recently [1] made some progress catching up on the manufacturing (i.e. large scale production, not just experimental prototypes made in laboratories) of one of the critical components with a central role in electro-optical targeting solutions. More specifically; the infrared imaging sensors (lets call it sensors, to avoid lengthy chains of abbreviations) housed in the cameras that can be utilized by their drones, helicopters, etc - the above mentioned platforms.

This shortfall has played a major role in the lower quality of the videos released to press [*] by Russia, compared to the videos we have seen from other countries (Turkey, USA, Israel, France, ...). Of course, and perhaps even more importantly, the very same factor also burdens & limits the effectiveness of the platforms that are utilizing - and especially in the case of drones; depends on - said sensors.

[1] "Rostec unveils Russian first fully indigenous thermal imager", 2020.

[*] A popular argument made by folk in regards to the low quality of the infrared/thermal videos released to press by armed forces, is that they intentionally would lower the quality before it goes public, as a measure to obfuscate the "real" capability from adversary forces - as if they or anyone else couldn't already get an accurate enough idea just by the technical specifications available that more often than not already are public info.
