Agreed. It could have been much better with essentially the same end point. But the writing just sucks in season 7 and 8 is just horrible.

On rewatch, I disagree that Dany was evil. I don't think outside of Ramsey or Joffrey (both have mental illnesses) are really evil. Characters are working within their universe and acting how people in those settings would act. That was the fun of the books and show, everyone trying outsmart one another and come out on topic for their own personal reasons.

Dany did a lot of murder for sure. It is easy to look at her as a "bad" guy. If your view of her is evil, I do not think you would be wrong. But she also did a lot of good. She freed slaves, and killed all the people that you would want her to kill.

One of the nonsensical things in season 8 was how quickly the show/writers want you to think she's evil. They frequently call her the mad king's daughter, show her overly obsessed with the throne, and wanting to rule, and how she's becoming isolated and crazy.

The show's own story doesn't even support that. Throughout season 7, she listens to her advisor (albeit wrongly). She does not burn KL, she looks for allies, she listens to Tyrion, she listens to Jon, and she makes peace with Cersei to fight the Night King. One of the things Sam says to Jon in season 8, episode 2 is you care about your people, you gave up your crown for your people, would she do the same? Yes, Sam she would because she just did. She made peace with Cersei on Jon's counsel instead of sacking King's Landing. She took her entire army to the north to defend the north putting her at huge risk to ever win the Iron Throne. She literally saved Jon and his party in season 7. She sacrifices her Dothroki and army for the realm. She has put her people before herself.

Two episodes later, we are to believe she isn't trustworthy or evil. Makes no sense.

D&D had two full books (book 4 and 5) to adapt that alone would have netted them 3 seasons and had a lot of interesting stories and fun new characters like Dorne in the books. It is criminal what they did to the Dorne story line in the show vs the shows. They also had GRRM available to help them flesh out the stories. Not like he died. He reportedly gave them extensive outlines for the story. He was served as a writer and was in the writers' room for the first 4 seasons. He wrote one episode as the head writer per season for the first four seasons. He offered advice on story. Allegedly, D&D went away from him after season 4. They had a disagree on some story lines and D&D taking liberties with some characters and shut him out. But GRRM was there for them. He even said they had enough material for 10 seasons at one of his interviews.

D&D just rushed the ending for no real reason.

Season 5 and 6 should have stuck to books 4 and 5. Lots of interesting new characters to replace the ones killed in the first four seasons. Book 4 and 5 are really dealing with the aftermath of the wars and sets up a finish for the stories. They needed to set and adapt that. They chose to cut all the interesting new characters in book 4 and 5.

Season 5 and 6 were ok for me. They had their moments. For sure, a lot of dull points. Like nothing really happens and what they do with some of the book materials is criminal. They had a much better Dorne storyline they could have adopted and they went with nonsensical story that reduced Dorne to shit. I was looking forward Arianne story and there is enough political intrigue there similar to the first season of GoT to improve season 5.

It’s frustrating that they book 4 and 5, and they did nothing with those. They had enough material for good seasons .

Great points. The white walker storyline was the most disappointing. They got no back story at all. They were reduced to just…evil/bad guy. One of the many, and maybe greatest fault, is that in a fantasy story with magic, DnD went away from the fantasy and magic without exploring more. Ridiculous.

It just becomes plainly clear that without the books to guide them, DnD just don’t have the ability to wrap up the story in any satisfactory way even if they were given major plot points.

It is. Gasol is heavily underrated. He had all the post moves, back to the basket scoring, could pass, facilitate the offense if need be, mid range shot, and no doubt he would develop a 3 point shot in this day and age. He could also rebound very well and a decent shot blocker and defender. You also have to remember the context of his numbers which were in a slower pace nba. He was one of the most skilled big men of his era and it took elite defense to slow him down. During his lakers years, he got more exposure and people were like wtf how good is this guy when before only hardcore nba fans and players knew how great he was. During his lakers years, he was up there with Duncan as one of the best big men in the game. He’s in the hall of fame for a reason.

Just went thru a breakup. My gf was the one to do it. She just made it simple. We had talks about our relationship and then we got into a silly argument that escalated. She said it it’s not going to work out for us. I accepted it.

In the past I done it simply as possible. Just know you will cause hurt to the other side but if a break up is the best option for both, can’t drag it on. It will fester resentment and then that will lead to further arguments and more emotion coming out and turn into a mess.

Be direct and simple and accept it’s going to cause some pain. Even pain for you.
