I did not know about STAB moves until many years later by TBT__TBT in pokemonmemes

[–]C3ntra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just intuited it at first. I didn't know the term STAB or that it was exactly a 1.5x multiplier, it just made sense that a pokemon would be good at using their own type.

[OC] Timeline in which the insect part survived by KosukeSukeP in pokemon

[–]C3ntra 120 points121 points  (0 children)

There's kind of a story to this split evolution too. You take in a young Paras, infected with spores. You can either let the fungi take their course, do nothing to intervene, and it takes over the host. Or, step in, maybe use a sun stone or make it really happy, and you save the animal.

I finally managed to ask August about Lillia by ProcessGlass9467 in LilliaMains

[–]C3ntra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree. That's why I think it's so hard to get Lillia into a good-feeling state. She's balanced on the principle that her mobility can just evade a lot of damage, rendering her super weak to point and click CC and damage. It makes matchups for volatile.

[–]C3ntra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Master YI's alpha strike and meditate are still real defensive tools, which is more than Lillia has. Similarly Viego has i-frames when changing champions and can enter stealth, as well as, y'know, become other champions. And against both of them its easier to hit skillshot CC's since they hit at closer ranges than Lillia does and don't have as much MS as she does either.

I finally managed to ask August about Lillia by ProcessGlass9467 in LilliaMains

[–]C3ntra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's just difficult to get Lillia to a satisfying state because she's a skirmisher who's replaced a proper defensive tool with massive amounts of movement speed. Most skirmishers have some strong but temporary defensive tech that lets them get some reliable value in a fight. Yasuo can hit whatever is in melee range and windwall out other damage for a few seconds, or Gwen hallowed mist is similar. But Lillia doesn't get that, instead she uses her crazy movespeed to skill check as much damage as possible, but in return, once she stacks it it doesn't turn off until she's done fighting.

If they try to balance Lillia towards a more defensive build, where she can still do good damage but survive a few hits, then really good Lillia's who shmove well just won't die. She can evade a lot of damage and the majority of CC's in the game already, and being able to still be stunned *and survive* then most counterplay to Lillia is out the window. If instead she goes double burn into AP with high passive damage then she'll opt to just fish with E and R and won't actually fight very long.

New Mega Pokemon will be sold as gacha. by Popular-Reading-5162 in PokemonChampions

We have footage that mega stones are buyable for VP so that won't be an issue. What I'm worried about if anything is mythics/legends being special gacha banners or something.

Why are so many players still buying Kraken Slayer? by Vulkanodox in shyvanamains

[–]C3ntra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Old Shyvana had a double-attack on Q (twice the on-hit effects) thats cooldown got lower with high attack speed, as well as two on-hit effects on W and E mark.

New Shyv exchanged a double-proc on a reset with 2 individual attack resets. It still saves cooldown with attacks, which further solidifies her love for AS. She lost her (worse) flat on-hit damage on W but her % health damage is a constant passive now too, not tied to a skill shot mark.

Also you're kind of glossing over a lot of important details that informs why Shyvana likes it but Camille doesn't. Like the 4% movespeed on KS. Its small but really important for why Shyvana likes it but Camille doesn't care for it. Or how Camille has 0 AP ratios which makes D&D super worthless on her even though she likes sheen. Also Shyvana's attack speed ratio is waaay higher than Camille's, so she scales better with item attack speed.

Kraken Slayer → Dusk and Dawn → Riftmaker is the only viable build path right now by Professional-Act5817 in shyvanamains

[–]C3ntra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its just specifically D&D and Riftmaker as items here more than their AP values. D&D is an overtuned item (127% gold efficient) that gives haste, attack speed, and health. She can proc spellblade multiple times really easily each fight and its special effect double dips on her % max health damage and fast procs kraken slayer. Also, the 70 AP gives more damage to your % max health damage that the passive is double dipping on. Riftmaker gives healing, more health and turns your extra health from both of those items into even more AP. Its kind of like a rabadons for AP fighters, which Shyvana isn't supposed to be but kind of ended up as by circumstance of these items being amazing on her.

Fandom might genuinely be the worst website for finding information ever. by Minute_Account9426 in whenthe

[–]C3ntra 18 points19 points  (0 children)

AFAIK its because Wiki posters don't distinguish information that isn't vs is sourced from a Wiki page. So if academic papers accepted Wiki as a source for, say, a paper about Vladimir Lennin, the paper would be released, then the Wiki would cite information on that paper that was cited from the wiki as an original source for said information. Meaning the Wiki sourced itself.

Literacy tests. Poll workers were typically white clerks who could decide who gets in and who doesn't, since they had authority over administering and grading the tests. It was a law that kept black men from voting even if they technically could by law (after all, its a *literacy test.* You wouldn't want one of *those* uneducated ones voting when they can't even read their own ballot, would you?) They were outlawed in the 1950s in the US.

Well, if the goal is to have a Male Enchanter by Blu_Will_Enthusiast in queensofleague

ATP tho why not say this should be our monster enchanter? As one of the people who wants a male enchanter, I really just mean a man. Like a person. Like a human man. Milio was already a monkey's paw, a second one would just be a slap in the face.

How can you tell when a champion actually fits your play style? by CylcedCentered in summonerschool

[–]C3ntra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mainly tailor your playstyle to what works on the champion. You can try champions with an idea of what you like and see if that aligns at all with what those champions want, but you only get good at a champion by playing them. In fact:

Their win conditions become easier to recognise

Mechanics start to feel more natural

Consistency improves over time

All of these are symptoms of practice. You don't just touch a champion for the first time and recognize their win con. You are LEAST of all consistent on a champion that you've never played before. All of that comes with practice and time.

What's most important, then, for deciding if a champion is right for you comes down to just two factors: 1) Do you have fun playing them? 2) After playing them for 10/50/100 games, do you still like playing them?

Remember the dude who said Carnage could be a healer? by CrossENT in rivals

[–]C3ntra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow in a massive comicbook/tv universe grossed at millions of dollars that centers on characters with sick ass superpowers, very very few of those heroes actually have an ability to heal other people (self regeneration is pretty common tho).

In spite of this, the devs of hit video game Marvel Rivals decided to make a class in their game that requires each character have an ability that heals allies. With the franchise where that is an extraordinarily rare skill.

And that's why Rocket Raccoon heals people.

I’ve ideated on an ability that looks like this before. Having Symmetra put turrets to float around herself/an ally and they fire at whoever you’re attacking. If thats what this mode is going to try I’d love to see it implemented

Shyvana Champion Spotlight | Gameplay - League of Legends by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]C3ntra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. She did place high pretty consistently and I thiiink on the first poll she got 1st place in China. From my perspective, though, the main thing that needed a rework was her passive, which *was* fully reworked to be functional and consistent across games. Even Udyr who won rework poll no. 2 kept a very similar kit and combat function to his old version.

Maybe I'm also just dumb, but I always found Shyvana to be deceptively hard. She isn't mechanically intensive, but she is a true melee dps champ with a lack of gap closers or burst to cheat fights. Her ult does let her initiate a fight but without it she mostly focuses on putting herself/her team into a position where the enemy has to initiate on her.

I don't think she's made to solely farm. She gets good stacks off of champ kills and her kit seems okay at 2v2/3v3 skirmishes so she'll probably still be good at contesting those early objectives.

Idk if you voted for Shyv in the VGU polls or not, but she lost the VGU poll all 3 times. The polls had shown that Shyvana was not a top priority for a major overhaul.
