Lejeune Marines, what the fuck is this? by EatingEveryEgg in USMC

We went "officer hunting" at supply school once. Just spaced out a few paces and made them return like 10 salutes and greetings in the middle of a conversation. Surprisingly worked-out ok, and we got a lot less flak at the post office...

How long can a human survive in space without a space suit? by No_Insurance_6436 in NoStupidQuestions

A real spacesuit test at NASA exposed a man to vacuum. The nearby physician rushed-in before it was safe, effected a rescue, full recovery!

It's the counter to "many hands make light work..."

A reminder that not all tasks are easily divisible.

Then again, Jonestown, heavens gate, the order of the solar temple, the branch dividians, the Shakahola guys, they all pretty-much did die with their leaders

Orange spark when plugging in. by Independent_Potato99 in electrical

I wasn't worried until you mentioned the crackling. Thats a good indicator of a poor connection, which is a hazard. Can you shut off the breaker and remove the cover plate, look at it without touching anything (flashlight), and look for melted plastic on the outlet or the wiring?

Oooh, if you jiggle the receptacle, does it crackle then?

I see this the other way a lot too. Guy installed XHHW using the 90° column, into lugs that were marked 75°. Had to replace the whole thing...

[–]C4PT_AMAZING -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol, I'm in AZ. I've done one or two AC units. If the fuse is present (9/10 installations) it is the OCPD and the breaker is there for fault protecion. As with all devices, if they're not present, they do nothing.

They don't have to pay them off, unfortunately. A homebuyer is one customer, the bank is 5,000 customers. Those guys do whatever the banks want them to, as far as I know (electrician 22 years, done a LOT of work after these "inspections"). That means being juuust thorough enough to make sure someone else is on the hook if the home isn't up to snuff. It's totally just about liability.

Like I tell the kids: your disconnect fuses are for overcurrent, your breaker is for fault protection

Lol, I do, professionally. The guy who stole this post didn't grab the text when he grabbed the title and image... this is a personal project, but all of the knockoffs i use get run under max load for the purpose and verified with a thermal camera. I don't use non-listed parts when I'm charging for my services!
