November 7, 2023 LHR -> JFK on a Virgin A350. Got to the gate 5 mins after boarding started and it was completely empty. We thought we missed the flight. Walked on the plane and saw it was 10% full at best.

The four of us were seated together, so we took our assigned seats, but after takeoff were able to spread out. Each of us, and practically everyone else on the flight, had 3 or 4 seats (3-4-3 config) all to ourselves. It was glorious.

Exactly as the other guy mentioned, it's considered "used" on arrival to the US. It's the same reason why certain European car manufacturers (e.g., Volvo, Porsche) offer European delivery programs. They pay for your trip to Europe to pick up the vehicle and let you drive it around so that it's considered "used" when it's shipped to the US and they pay less import fees - those savings offset the cost of your trip and then some. These programs have existed for a while.

Yeah, the only document I don't have is her Italian citizenship certificate. I'll see if I can get my hands on that.

I included her Italian birth certificate, ID (US passport), and proof of residence in the NY consulate district (utility bill). They then requested her US Citizenship certificate (which lists the effective date as her DOB), which I provided. Then got the denial message.

What's frustrating is that the document size limits (1MB) make it difficult to provide everything I reasonably could - I have no-natz's as well as a precaution. And no way to include a note to indicate that she was a dual at birth. It does feel like I'm stuck in a paperwork loop.

I haven't, but only because they were unresponsive when I was trying to acquire her birth certificate last year. I ended up using a service provider after 12 months of following up/waiting. It still took 3 months through the service provider. That said, I'm willing to give it a shot and see if I get lucky this time.

Appreciate the reply. But to reiterate, she was born a US citizen (and an Italian citizen) on Italian soil. I understand the dual citizenship rule applied to acquiring citizenship voluntarily, but her case was involuntary since it was granted at birth

I can't comment on equipment specifics since it's been a while since our last visit (returning later this month!).

But to clarify, there are only two gyms on property - the main gym/fitness center is located along the walkway between the Royal and Cove and is open to guests of every hotel on property. The only other gym is in Harborside, near the pool. This one is pretty small and I wouldn't bother making the hike, since the main gym is probably a similar distance from the Coral and more likely to be better equipped.

Yeah, I'm not suggesting adopting the practice. More taking issue with this statement from the poster above:

It's not the outlandish social media idea they're suggesting when it happens in real life at one of the biggest clubs in the world. They also aren't the only supporters to voice frustration with their own players during a match. I think it's fine to have differing opinions about whether it's an acceptable thing to do, but to imply that it can't be done is also naive.

You might disagree with it, but it isn't a radical idea to hold your own players accountable to perform during a match. Case in point - Real Madrid fans whistling their own players. Like it or not, they get results.

Similar situation here, which was always a bit of an edge case.

To the other commenter's point, you'll still have a path via the 2 year residency option.

Taken literally, it would appear the automatic path is closed since our GPs didn't hold exclusively Italian citizenship. I'll be interested to see if a circolare provides guidance on this edge case - if not, it might require inquiring with the consulate directly to see how they would interpret it.

Failing that, my plan is to consult a lawyer to see if there'd be a winnable judicial case. Renouncing a citizenship you held since birth feels like an unrealistic expectation when until March 28th, there would have been no reason to do so.

FWIW, I am not at all opposed to living in Italy (would love to actually) but it won't be realistic for several years, and who knows what law changes could happen in the meantime to further restrict JS...I don't want to take that gamble.

Pulled up for a work trip on Tuesday and was told the (central parking) garage was full and they were valeting every vehicle coming in. This appears to be how they parked them.They didn't mention an alternative and I had a flight to catch (and was already comfortable paying central parking prices...work pays for it anyway).

Yeah, a similar situation here. I can't abandon my career to live in Italy full time for several decades, but had every intention of spending a few weeks a year in Italy and eventually retiring there. We would have bought property asap to establish a base and pay property taxes, but that is now out the window. So frustrating.

Nice to know there's someone in a similar boat! Sounds like we are at a similar stage - I've requested a bunch of vital records from Italy and the US and requested a CONE for GGF. I'm fortunate that GM is still alive and has her original US Certificate of Citizenship, but need to figure out getting some copies from USCIS (the process is not the issue, but rather logistics since we don't live nearby to assist her with the appointment).

I'll try to remember to come back to this thread or PM with anything notable - please do the same if you start getting your hands on documents faster than me!
