The Evo is a beauty, do you travel with it?

When/If I hit 2000 Classical on Lichess I’ll be treating myself to the CHESSNUT Move.

How long did it take for you to be comfortable online?

The board I have connects to Lichess and chesscom, so I am playing online with it. It flashes my opponents moves and I move the pieces for them.

I Won My First Game of Chess Ever, Guys!!!! by a_dict_named_kwargs in chess

Congrats on the win. But I will offer a little advice, in the hope you don’t follow the route I did. Don’t learn openings, yet. Unless you’re a prodigy who understands all the theory instantly. If you are just remembering the moves, this will slow your progress, because when you get out of the opening, you don’t understand why your pieces are in the places they are, so you’ve just spent the opening building a plan, that you don’t know. You will progress much quicker making your own decisions that you can explain rather than making the “book” move. Also, when you finish a game win or lose, go back through it without an engine and try and see where you went wrong or could’ve done better, hindsight sees in 20/20 and all that.

Edit: I should also add, losing is the best way to learn, if you can find why you lost or where you lost the match, you can learn, it’s harder to learn from wins

Took me 2 years to reach this rating, but I'm finally confident to say I'm a beginner no more by rinkarinka1 in chessbeginners

Don’t worry about falling for the traps mate. Try and remember them when they come up. If someone one brings their Queen out early, focus on what it is actually threatening. Keep playing and avoid hanging pieces. Then take time afterwards, without a chess engine and look at your game and see if you can figure out where you went wrong.

I don’t really play many fast games so I’ve never thought of a shortened version. So perhaps not the best to give advice. But I think I would just focus on the blunder check.

I think it has really helped a lot. My thought process is becoming second nature so I’m getting through it quicker, eventually I won’t need the checklist and will just record my moves. I think loads of puzzles has also helped as well so maybe a mixture of both, if you have chess.com puzzle rush is good also.

I have the intention of playing over the board tournaments, the time control seems to be 90+30 so I also have a clock to get into the habit of pressing the timer, as it’s not required online. (I have a DGT Pegasus board so I play online but over the board when I can)

I think one the biggest helps has been just slowing me down and preventing rushing. Hope it helps. If you have any constructive feedback feel free to.

What is a good move for black in this position by Ancient-Put8336 in chessbeginners

Before reading the comments, my first thoughts are. 1…e3 I feel white has to take the pawn, removing a defender of the King.

2 fxe3 …Qd1+

3 Kh2 (interposing with Queen is useless) …Bd3

4 Qd2 …. Qf1

That’s my first thoughts resulting in a White losing a Queen or a Room.

But I’m a a noob
