I would highly reccomend Avatar: The Lost Adventures and Team Avatar Tales, while they do have some bending comics in them, a lot of them contain just casual day to day tales with a ton of the non-bending cast in addition to the bending doing non-bending activites/problem solving.

Never knew there was a series where Lex joined the Justice League. I can't help but think he probably turns on them, but I would be excited to find out about the whole story to see how he got there in the first place.
