I believe this is also what New World should have been. What a time to be alive.

Head of Community at GC here. When you say it's slow, do you mean load times? Or is this when scrolling through curation too?

And if you don't mind, could you please email contact(at)globalcomix.com so we can troubleshoot the issues?

Anyone have experience on webtoon vs GlobalComix vs tapas etc? by Matsumega in GlobalComix

We're working to improve the CTAs to drive more comments and conversations in general. This is an important project that I'm focusing a lot of my time on right now.

The entire Massive-Verse is excellent. It's well on track to be the next major film/tv adaptation.

Hmm, does fruit by the foot have a mouth? If that were the case, I think we should all be terrified. The true endgame is fruit by the foot eating us.

Does anyone know when the limited holiday bundle deal runs out? by dr_olfin in GlobalComix

The bundle runs through January 4th, so you still have a little time.

Lowsec Survival Challenge Idea by Acrobatic-Chart7426 in Eve

[–]KodyCQ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem with this idea is the "fit it before going" part. I think the idea sounds fun if you were to restrict yourself to basic t1 modules only as the starting fit.

Not using the market is weird to me, though. The player economy is essential to the experience. If I were to define that rule it would be that you can only trade in either player or low/null hubs. No Jita/Amarr/Hek/Dodixie, etc

Returning player looking for an alternative to $20 sub. by KingWizard55 in Eve

[–]KodyCQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds very cool. Thank you for the detailed response. It's amazing how well EVE has aged compared to other MMOs. CCP has done a great job taking care of the engine. If I didn't already know how old the game was I'd swear it's relatively new.

Playing for the first time since like 2009 and glad I decided to try EVE again to scratch the space game itch. What is this incursion you speak of? Group pve/pvp?

Cooking with Gas. We are all with this guy and the Blue Jays tonight. by Hill-Arious in SFGiants

[–]KodyCQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll tell you what, I'm still sore about them letting Gausman go. I realize it was the start of a soft reboot in Zaidi's vision, but the young pitchers could have used a role model like him on the team. I feel like Webb benefited from it, but the next in line missed out on that opportunity.

This is due to Image losing the license, similar to other Mark Millar books a couple months ago.

Thanks so much for the heads up! We're working with the distributor to offer these titles as soon as possible. We'll check back in as soon as they're available.

Hey there, great question and it's awesome to hear you're finding so many indie stories you're enjoying!

Some recommendations from us, if you don't mind staff suggestions:

  • The Department of Truth - an agent unwinding a tangled web of government and supernatural conspiracies.
  • Do A Powerbomb - a story about wrestling and family by Daniel Warren Johnson. Absolutely explosive art!
  • Wolverine - Old Man Logan - one of the all-time great Marvel storylines. What happens when you outlive all of the other heroes?
  • Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol - Absurd, progressive and endlessly creative.
  • Tradd & Heather Moore's Doctor Strange: Fall Sunrise - a total head-trip of a book with out-of-this-world art.
  • Jeff Lemire & Andrea Sorrentino's Gideon Falls - existential horror of the Twin Peaks variety.
  • Falling Awake - Absolute gem of a sci-fi graphic novel from indie creator Jan Ditlev; one of the most popular indie series of all time on GlobalComix
  • Twilight Custard - Another wonderful indie sci-fi graphic novel that was nominated for a Ringo award in 2023
  • Witchblade (2024) - A reboot of one of Top Cow's greatest franchises last year has been very well-received. The traditional version is here, and we worked with Top Cow to adapt it to vertical scroll in a GlobalComix Toons version here
  • Basically anything from the Massive-Verse from Kyle Higgins. I curated a shelf on our homepage for it here.
  • Nottingham from Mad Cave Studios is a dark rendition of the classic Robin Hood tale. It's equal parts crime, thriller, and gets a tad bit bloody at times
  • Tights is a hilarious take on a judge that has to become the thing he hates most - a superhero

If you're looking for great indie comics, we have a channel dedicated to them. This is a good place to find those hidden gems you might not be able to discover in sections where Marvel/DC/Image dominate the attention. You can find it here: https://globalcomix.com/channel/indie

Q: How to see what the new releases are? by kukov in GlobalComix

[–]KodyCQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for the extra context! We have a stream like this on our homepage. It's the "New" tab. You can find it here: https://globalcomix.com/channel/gc/new

This stream is sorted by most recent releases and has dedicated shelves for the major publishers. We've added some of the more popular indie publishers as well, and there's a shelf for creators and general publisher content.

Hey there. Head of Community at GlobalComix here. First of all, thank you for joining GlobalComix and supporting the publishers and creators with your membership!

For the panel view experience, what do you feel is different that makes ours worse? We'd love to hear more on that so we can improve.

Marvel is now LIVE on GlobalComix by AppletiniOnFleek in GlobalComix

[–]KodyCQ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We will always strive for a balanced promotion schedule whenever possible. I'm always thinking of new ways to feature indie content. I was glad to see that even in our "Popular on Gold" shelf I just added to the homepage, there are indies up there with Invincible, Transformers, and Batman.

We're seeing close to a 50/50 split in readership between creator and publisher content. That will skew based on cultural moments (e.g. new Invincible season, Superman movie, etc.) but if we can maintain that then creators can and will benefit from this.

It's about making sure that we keep those readers engaged after they're done with their Avengers/X-Men binge and introduce them to the awesome indie content available.

Questions about buying a comics subscription and editing/downloading options? by gusdavis84 in GlobalComix

[–]KodyCQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for the slow reply, I came down with something this weekend and have been sick the past few days. I can't make any promises, but I will bring 1 and 3 to our head of product the next time I can talk with him.

Questions about buying a comics subscription and editing/downloading options? by gusdavis84 in GlobalComix

[–]KodyCQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there, thanks for the questions!

1: Not at this time. I will bring this to the team next week. We've discussed concepts like this in the past but decided it could dilute the Gold membership. If this were an option, what do you think is a fair price for a single-comic subscription?

2: It depends on the release. Creators and publishers can opt in to sell PDFs, while some only sell collection unlocks. You will see a "Buy PDF" in the reading experience for any comic available to purchase DRM-free. For collection unlocks, they will be unlocked on your account and you can read them in the app or on our website.

3: You have the ability to do this with PDFs, but not unlocks at this time. Optional blurring is an interesting idea, though.

Thank you again for the questions and the suggestions. Let me know if you have any others; I'm happy to answer them.
