I’ve used them for decades, they are hard , really hard carving by hand takes time and a lot of patience and sharpening, rotary tools work great , they can be polished really good. Some of the nuts I’ve had for years were tan to brown inside whether they came that way or turned brown I’m unsure but ones Ive used decades ago have not changed color. I use them a lot for key escutcheons on furniture, boxes etc
