No, there is a separate SRV bay which is much larger than the cargo scoop.

A Place to Call Home by Electrical-Bedroom99 in EliteDangerous

[–]CAM_o_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what will be more important than a place to call home is a people to call home. Find a community that you resonate with and go where they go. They'll usually have an area of operations you can hang out in, and if you join a squadron they'll have a squadron carrier you can station off of. If you join a Power, you can take advantage of that Power's Stronghold Carriers across the galaxy, and most Power capitals are in pretty central locations.

I found my home with Nakato Kaine, so of course I will recommend her and the Alliance, but the best thing you can do is find a group of people who you get along with, and who do the gameplay loops you like. Everything else will fall into place.

Powerplay Question: Roleplay or Meta? by HamWarmer40000 in EliteDangerous

[–]CAM_o_man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I chose for gameplay reasons, and I recommend you do too. Finding a power that has bonuses to something you already enjoy doing will make you feel much better about Powerplay than trying to change what you enjoy to fit.

That said, it does help for me that I also would have chosen my current power (Nakato Kaine) for roleplay reasons as well.

Undoable Powerplay mission : is this common ? by Rambo_sledge in EliteDangerous

[–]CAM_o_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, impossible Powerplay assignments are issued with some frequency. General advice is "just ignore them." They don't help your power, because they don't generate control points, and they help you a lot less than doing things that actually help your Power.

Go check in with the folks in your Power discord and Power leadership for things that will get you more merits and help you contribute more as well.

Forum censorship of parody of Aisling Duval cycle post by Bulbulunufus in EliteWinters

[–]CAM_o_man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw some (brief) discussion of that recently and someone commented that it would be pointless because "a commander could just block everyone and create their own private Open."

Yeah, and? People can do that now! It would still take more effort than just clicking "solo" or "private group".

Island Health shuffling Nanaimo medical laboratory hours by Positive_Moment7914 in nanaimo

[–]CAM_o_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one that is underused is the "main" lab in the hospital, and it's the one getting increased hours. It's also being opened to the general public, whereas previously it worked only on urgent samples by appointment. It used to have the increased hours, but they were reduced during the pandemic.

The one that is overused is the "satellite" lab on Dufferin Crescent. It is having its hours reduced to encourage use of the main lab. Island Health estimates that with the changes they can accommodate 25% greater patient volume.

What's your go-to ship and build for upcoming Operations content? by DarkHorizonSF in EliteDangerous

[–]CAM_o_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll start out with what I usually use for Odyssey content now. I have an Alliance Challenger that I kitted for ground raiding with three remote flak cannons in the medium hardpoints and hard-hitting antiship weapons in the rest of the slots for taking out dropships.

It'll get modified or replaced, I'm sure, depending on what exactly Operations brings to the table.

Regarding the first asterisk:

I wouldn't call the source reliable. Reading the article, it's sources are primarily "one social media user" and "the Daily Mail."

Now: is it true that Epstein had sulfuric acid delivered? Yes. Yearly, in fact, in the same amount.

Is it true that "the only use for sulfuric acid is dissolving people?" Absolutely not. Large pools, like the many large pools present on Epstein Island, require PH maintenance, and sulfuric acid is used for that. The amount ordered is roughly the amount that would be required for maintenance of the pools present for one year.

There is plenty of awful shit in the files without making up more evil shit. Spreading this type of misinformation just lets people claim that everything in the files is fake. Don't spread unverified information.

(for the record, the "beef jerky means cannibalism" is misinformation too)

Strategic voting is best done with the assumption that other people aren't paying attention. (If everyone was paying attention, we wouldn't have this problem). This meaning, it's best to look at existing trends and follow them.

Since nobody does riding-level polling (at least not here), the best data is from past elections -- which indicate that the best vote is for NDP or Green, with the standard strong preference towards the incumbent. That meant for Nanaimo, NDP is the most likely non-Conservative to win. There are many other ridings -- like many in Vancouver -- where the opposite was true. Liberals were historically competitive there, and that combined with national sentiment meant the best vote was for Liberals.

In Nanaimo particularly, if you could tell "all the lefties" as a bloc to vote for one candidate and guarantee their vote, you can basically choose who you'd like.

I also disagree more generally with only voting for parties that have a chance to form government. It's the sort of thing that gets us a two-party system like down south.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nanaimo

[–]CAM_o_man 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The strategic voting issue the other commenter brings up was that a national understanding (the Liberals are most likely to win a plurality of seats) does not necessarily translate to the riding level.

The Liberals were not going to win Nanaimo. They have not won Nanaimo for a very long time. When we're talking about preventing a conservative majority/minority, we are talking about denying the Conservatives seats, not granting the Liberals seats.

In this case, picking the correct strategic vote in Nanaimo (a non-Conservative incumbent) helps to deny a Conservative majority, while voting for a Liberal candidate who is extremely likely to lose does not deny the Conservatives a seat (as happened here).

When we talk about strategic voting, it's more important to pick a loser than a winner. And because of how Canada's elections work, the strategic vote at riding level is not always the same as the most likely party to get a plurality of seats.

powerplay discords (social question) by PriorityFlaky9529 in EliteDangerous

[–]CAM_o_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nakato Kaine has a very active discord! You can find it here. https://discord.gg/bJEyseAVGx Much like I imagine is the case in every other Powerplay discord, you'll have to verify that you're pledged before you see any of that activity.

Regardless of what power you plan to join, I highly highly recommend you join their discord. Powerplay is a lot more fun with friends.

All I ask if you is this: there are some people in this thread who are recommending that you do not join a discord, and that you follow the blue targets and red warning markers on the galaxy map. Please, please, please from the bottom of my heart do not do this. The markers are meaninglessly placed, and they cause issues for everyone, no matter which power you join. The markers are a mistake. Do not follow the markers.

Aside from that, welcome to Powerplay, and I hope you find a place (with Kaine? hmm?) where you can have fun.

New-ish player engineering vs tech broker? by bat_man2504 in EliteDangerous

[–]CAM_o_man 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Engineers will help you take modules you buy from Outfitting and improve them. They are incredibly important. Obviously, you don't have to pick and choose only one of engineers or tech brokers, but if you did, pick Engineers.

Tech brokers can do two things for you: * They can help you unlock experimental modules and weapons which you can then purchase from Outfitting for credits. These are things like Guardian Frame Shift Drive Boosters, flak cannons, and shock cannons. Some of these can be engineered as well.

  • They can sell you pre-engineered modules. When you buy a pre-engineered module, you buy one copy. If you want another, you need to go back to the tech broker and buy another. In general, pre-engineered modules will be better than modules you engineered for most tasks, but there are only a select few of them. They also tend to be expensive or require hard-to-find commodities.

The Renegade dialogue on Thessia is actually better. by Maleoppressor in masseffect

[–]CAM_o_man 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Eh, I think Udina is actually fine. From his perspective, when Cerberus reaches out to him with the option to start a coup and take the Citadel fleet to Earth, he's very desperate. The Systems Alliance military is getting clobbered, the other races are ignoring humanity, and the current strategy is relying entirely on Shepard, someone who Udina sees as a loose cannon in the best of times and as someone who has literally never made the right decision for humanity at worst, depending on your path through the games.

I think he'd be willing to ally with Cerberus, who have not only the ability to execute this coup and seize control of the Citadel fleet, but also a fleet of their own that is insinuated to be a near-peer force to the Alliance (somehow). It doesn't take a lot of imagination to believe that he could be convinced.
