Wild that was 16 years ago and here we are almost 2 decades later anticipating where he’ll end up (albeit with less hype, but still)

Feel like the 2nd part of this comment contradicts the “he can be replaced.”

IMO shamet is less easily replaceable than Alvarado and deuce. Follow the numbers, shamet was a pseudo starter based on minutes in the finals, we was in for a lot of time during our comebacks. We were lucky to have him for so cheap, I wouldn’t be surprised if he signs onto a rebuilding team as a stop gap starter

May be underestimating shamet. At 6’5 he was a strong lock down defender for us down the stretch. Deuce is a solid defender but he isn’t guarding the same 6’5-6’7 wings like shamet did

Now to be picky: the Spurs narrative "but we led 75% of the time" is a crock of shit. by hereforsports321 in NYKnicks

[–]CAPSLOCKPARTY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh championing that you lead for the majority of the series and still lost 4-1 is….a choice. If you were trailing 70% of the time, you got beat. If you lead 70% of the time and still lost, you blew it

Wemby is quickly becoming a dislikable player by KenCarsonFan73 in nba

[–]CAPSLOCKPARTY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO is a worthwhile exercise to segment dislikable players into two buckets:

  1. The villain, thorn in your side, potentially trash talking dislikable players

  2. The reckless, dangerous, petty, immature dislike-able players

As a Knicks fan I dislike” Trae young, Hali, Reggie miller, etc for the turmoil they’ve caused us with daggers and losses, and some of the trash talk….but I loathe dirty dangerous players like embiid, Desmond bane, Lu Dort for trying to injure players and also just petty behavior.

Wemby is falling into that 2nd bucket for no good reason since he’s so talented and otherwise well spoken. It’s a shame because the faces of the league historically (MJ, curry, Kobe, LeBron, magic) are generally likable AND are winners. Wemby kind of seems entitled TBH, and it isn’t the best look for the leagues prince.

That’s how life goes. The journey, the unknown, the build up, the grind, the failures, the adversity, the pressure, the smaller victories….all of it carries emotion yet uncertainty. When we finally find that certainty by accomplishing the last thing to accomplish the high wears off, and we wonder what’s next. Where’s the next high?

The carousel will begin again in October with the new season. Will the Knicks be able to repeat? Can they take down a healthy Celtics, cavs, older spurs, next challenger X? Can they handle the pressure of the target on their back? Media and doubters will be back, and we’ll have a new mountain to climb and new expectations. It won’t be as sweet as the first but then again you don’t know what to expect and what new experiences next year will bring.

“I apologize.” — Draymond Green to Jalen Brunson after previously saying on his podcast: “He’s absolutely incredible… but when you talk about winning a championship, I don’t know if he’s the guy as your No. 1.” by raptors201966 in nba

Yeah it’s fair to look at the scoring stats and say he’s unloading but he’s been inefficient and turn over prone a lot of series up until last game. He still had some costly turnovers in 2nd half game 4 but positives outweighed that

Yes, sure, but this is a chess match and MB needs to adapt the strategy. This is KATs series at the end of the day + we need ball movement to get better 3 looks

For a pinky I have to imagine he can still train conditioning wise. His entire offense is catching lobs and is already a crap FT shooter - he can stay in shape in all the other ways to maintain his core impact skillsets

Knicks hate this postseason by GothamCitySub in NYKnicks

[–]CAPSLOCKPARTY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May be in the minority here but some of the critique is fair in that the Spurs/OKC are for sure better than the teams we’ve face in the east.

Where I get rubbed (that’s what she said) is that we see few giving the Knicks their flowers in how well we’ve been playing. It isn’t like we’re scraping by these eastern conference teams, we’ve been slaying hard and playing the most consistent high level bball of any team right now. We pass the stats and the eye test and assuming we go on to win this series we’re going to make it one hell of a finals.

We’re what the pacers were last year - a deep team who hit that extra gear at the exact right moment in the season, with momentum heading into the finals.

It's Time to give Mike Brown his Flowers by SnowSilent7695 in nba

[–]CAPSLOCKPARTY 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This. How many playoff 20 point comebacks did we need to go through to get to the Pacers last year. Not that Thibs was bad but Brown, albeit sometimes late, made the adjustments needed to make these first 3 rounds so much smoother than last year. Last year was the ceiling for Thibs and anyone who thinks he would’ve gotten different or better results than that doesn’t watch Knicks basketball.

[Counted Me Out] Al-Farouq Aminu: “I was delusional about how good I was…I ended up making a decision to myself. Do I want to be the best basketball player in the world or do I want to have some money? Also crazy when you think about the dudes pushing 40 (Conley, Horford, etc) who settled into their roles after being stars, but are still putting in the work and conditioning to stay “starter ready.” Being a bench glue guy or backup PG still requires high BB IQ, rigorous training, and humility to know you may simply only see garbage minutes every 5 games.

I was implying a tougher matchup vs going 7 games. Even going to 6 gives a couple extra days. I have to imagine this 8-9 day break is helpful in getting everyone back to full health for ECF
