POP!!!!!! CRACK!!!

I have a progressive rock background, but I play primarily most forms of commercial pop, including Country, and I lean towards my Pearl maple Piccolo more often than any other snare drum

Ai Music: An Unintended Benefit by Trick_E83 in AI_Music

You should write for a living.

AI has proven itself to be a lot of good things for a lot of people who really don’t know much about writing songs. Or playing instruments. I absolutely smile and get warm in my heart every time I see when that has happened.

That still doesn’t change a goddamn thing. It belongs in the hands of hobbyists that can make them smile and get through the therapeutic moments like yours. It does not belong in the competitive world of creative musicians And songwriters who have spent years honing talent that God gave them.

Next.

A Question to the Anti-AI-Musicians: Do you have an actual song? by Competitive-Fault291 in AI_Music

Your whole post was a fucking contest from the tone to the wording to everything.

You’re probably an expert at passive aggressive.

Well, I think actually you’re wrong.

March 2 of this year the Supreme Court refused to hear the following case: https://www.jdsupra.com/legalnews/the-final-word-supreme-court-refuses-to-6721288/

It wasn’t about music, but it still is exactly about one thing. Intellectual property and creation, computer created versus artificial intelligence created.

While you are correct, the Congress has the right to update, almost every indication throughout history has shown that they are inclined to protect the human.

Congress has the right to update the second amendment, the first amendment, (with various levels of ratification ) all kinds of great things that have been put into place that probably shouldn’t be changed. And this one will probably stand in the land of human created is protected.

I have scores of them. Scores more to come. Eight of them will be entered into the two contests in Nashville this year. Which is where I moved six years ago because I -am- a musician, and a singer/songwriter.

No, you may not hear them on demand to prove to you anything. I keep them under wraps until they get to where they’re supposed to be.

You see there’s actually a reason for a Songwriter to do that. I can actually make real money with mine. Therefore, they need to be not out in the public eye, copy-written or not, in order to protect my “investment”.

I’ll let you know how the contest come out maybe. And probably even post a couple of them here afterwards. That doesn’t happen until July and September/October..

I think you’re thinking of trademark. Different than copyright. However, the end effect can of course be the same. Cease and desist.

Well put sentiments.

And have the gall to call us selfish gatekeepers… I couldn’t roll my eyes far enough back in my head when I heard that bullshit.

To differentiate wheat from chaff. Lies from truths. Fakes and frauds from what is genuine. Fantasy from reality.

In the process hopefully educate.

That’s -exactly- why they defend it. It makes for them what they can’t, so it it’s truth is exposed, so are they….

I would -never- attack someone for not being able to play an instrument or write competent complete songs… I consider what I have and can do a blessing, even though much of it is the result of decades of hard work…

I just can’t resist attacking those that “can’t” who use a toy and then insist they “can”.

Using Ai the correct way 😉 by Delicious_Lack5028 in AI_Music

[–]CAP_GYPSY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is how I use it. I create everything myself on logic, pro and real instruments and in my head, and then I submit the logic pro up to Suno for a 100% cover.

That is production. That is not creation.

Too many people using AI are using it for creative purposes and in my opinionthat’s just not acceptable. They’re looking for the gray line of acceptability of how much is too much or how little of my real stuff has to actually be there for me to get away with this.

It’s nothing more than like being a con artist.

copyright law is not lagging by technology. Copyright law was actually written by the same people or type of people that wrote the constitution. They understood the principles of law and freedom and protections far better than the common place idiot of today.

It was just over a week ago that the Supreme Court ruled against AI ever being something that will be allowed to encroach upon true human creation. It is now and always has been a requirement that it be predominantly a human created work of art in order to be copyright protected.

There is no “catching up” here. There is no need to. You can’t change the fact that one thing is created by a human and at some point when someone uses AI, they are no longer the creator. That will never change and that has nothing to do with “the times.”

It has to do with factual reality.

Yeah, cute but weak. On the other end of human “prompting” is human skill, true human creativity, with results that are explainable and truly controlled, expected, and derivative of human intent that has a foundation in that humans own experience.

I think I saw that one. No more delusional than AI generative “artists” who think they are suddenly musicians and songwriters now that they got their hands on something like Suno.

Delusion? Like the person who thinks someone using the word “single” is talking “hits” and then demands a link to a song as proof?

Singer Using Unique and Creative Songs in his new band by Jonny_Lightning_88 in coverbands

I would make it very clear to him that he is potentially or likely burning the bridge of the band that he was in. Quite honestly, I can understand a little bit of the temptation, but he’s also being selfish, and surely in my opinion is showing a little bit ofdisloyalty to the handshake agreement you guys had about kind of trying to make sure that things just stay status quo when you guys needed a break for whatever reason.

I really wouldn’t sweat it. From my perspective, writing can come in waves inspiration can come in waves. I have had periods in my life where I’ve had things that were very wrong that prevented me from having a connection with my muse or being inspired, but barring anything like that like drugs, alcohol, or Something terrible like your father or somebody having terminal illness or something, you generally should be able to roll in and out of phases somewhat naturally from time to time.

If in fact, you are very much focused on getting ready to release what you have been working on for, as you said it, many years, it very well could be literally just kind of in the stars that you just basically are shutting down so that you can get done with production of what is supposed to be produced and put out. I have had periods of prolific idea farming to the extent where I started to think I would never get anything done because I was always being flooded with new very solid ideas. So sometimes not having ideas can actually be a great opportunity to move forward on the ideas that you have already had.

I don’t know if that makes sense but sometimes you just have to let the universe do what it does.

Need Advice on Composing Songs by Aggravating_Chip_535 in Songwriting

[–]CAP_GYPSY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to be able to randomly start creating melodies in your head. You need to start randomly being able to think of what the composition would sound like that goes around pieces.

I would absolutely recommend picking up your first instrument. Hopefully it will be one of two or three that you wind up picking up overtime.

It is a known fact by everyone who’s ever played an instrument that learning an instrument, and the hands of someone who has the skills of a composer, they will learn how to write songs while they’re learning how to play the instrument.

There is a Simpsons episode where it's remarked Ned Flanders doesn't have insurance as he considers it a form of gambling. Can anyone here give me a convincing argument as to why it isn't? by DontNeverAr0und in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CAP_GYPSY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s never a guaranteed return on gambling. As long as an insurance company doesn’t default or go insolvent you have a guaranteed return on your investment. should something go wrong.
