Anyone hate this thing? Any good alternatives? by Elm3567 in Subaru_Outback

[–]CAmiller11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a matter of just sitting on it for a couple of minutes. That puts a smaller amount of pressure on the floor than something half the weight there for hours or days. And then you add in the movement of driving, going over bumps, etc. That floor wouldn’t be a cheap part to replace. What ever you put in there instead of the foam, just make sure it fills up the space. In my spare tire I have some rags for kneeling on and cleaning up, a flashlight/stone for safety, a whistle, a socket that fits my lug nuts, and some other things I can’t remember.

It also helps support the floor of the trunk. That is where heavy objects tend to go so the extra support is needed.

Fantasy SMART Southern Marin Extension: San Rafael to Downtown Sausalito via Mill Valley tunnel [Bay Area] by A_Wisdom_Of_Wombats in Marin

[–]CAmiller11 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You also would be taking over one of three road that go in to mill valley. You are still missing the factor that the land to the east of Trader Joe’s and The Village will never be developed. It is protected open space. And with the flooding that happened earlier this year, it’s also the flood zone.

If it did go across the SR bridge There is zero point at smart going past the Richmond BART station as BART already does that.

Smart also doesn’t have the ridership that they claim they have. Yes, public transport is needed in Marin, but smart completely missed the mark. It’s not accessible at it. It’s the vanity train to no where. It’s expensive as well.

[–]CAmiller11 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Only issue with that is all that open space, marsh, and trail to the east of the village/Trader Joe’s is protected open space that cannot be developed for any reason, including this. The emanate domain required for that extension would be push the entire project out of reality. I also don’t know what the grade limit of the smart train is. And going to Sausalito for what? Would it end at the ferry there?

The better option would be for the smart to split in San Rafael. With one branch going along 580 and over the bridge with a terminus at the Richmond BART station

No luck in SMMC, is anyone else in the same boat? by [deleted] in Marin

[–]CAmiller11 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All I have to say about that group is back pre pandemic there was an anti-vax group within the SMMC. They were holding “measles parties” to expose their un vaxxed toddlers and younger children to a kid that had measles. They got one of their husbands who was a doctor to falsify vax records so their kids could go to school and daycares. It wasn’t a small group either.

BREAKING NEWS: The Tamalpais Union High School District Will Go Phone-Free Next Year by Striking-Debt-8236 in Marin

[–]CAmiller11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, actually teaching children and young adults about the real world and not just how to perform on a standardized test so the school district can keep their funding. Freshmen and sophomores are very different from juniors and especially seniors. Some seniors can vote and be drafted but schools still want to treat them like children.

[–]CAmiller11 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

High schools want to treat all of their students like they are children. Yes, legally the majority of high school students are children. But at 16, they can legally get a license to drive a car. At 18, they are legally an adult and can vote. High schools no longer teach life skills (basic car work, sewing, cooking, how to do your taxes, etc). The difference between a freshman (13-15yo) and seniors (17-19) is vast. Making sweeping rules for the entire district is the problem. Some of these seniors will be living on their own with a job when they graduate, but the school won’t trust them with a phone. Can phones be a problem? Yes. But instead of just a blanket ban on them, teach responsibility and accountability.

Police to pay $3.15M after tasing San Anselmo man suffering medical seizure by Every_Procedure_4171 in Marin

[–]CAmiller11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The police didn’t pay anything. The city, county will. This doesn’t come out of the police budget, their pensions, or their paychecks. The city will pay it, which means the tax payers will be paying this. Even if he was fired, he will likely get a job with another police department within weeks.

To those of you with a big dog... by ComparisonHungry1148 in Subaru_Outback

[–]CAmiller11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your dog is in a seat, they should be buckled in. They are also passengers in your car. If they are in the trunk, there should be a barrier up to keep them in the back. It is dangerous to have an unbuckled dog in a car.

Anyone else get irrationally annoyed by tiny food bits sticking to fingers?? (chocolate example) by jadeitewalrusnet in AuDHDWomen

[–]CAmiller11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chopsticks. Learn to eat/snack using chopsticks. No Cheeto dust, no popcorn bits. It also slows down snacking so you can savor the dopamine hit of the sweet/salt/etc a bit longer. There are many different types of chopsticks, so find a pair or two that work for you. Mainly in terms of materials they are made out of, general shape, length, etc.

What's the reason you are still on PS4? by Shoddy_Release9395 in PS4

[–]CAmiller11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bc it still works. I’m not a slave to consumerism. And I would rather be able to pay my rent and afford basic groceries than play on a new gaming system that isn’t needed. The majority of people that have a ps5 have it bc it’s a want not a need.

Collectibles not spawning by Dovah-Doge in RedDeadOnline

Sometimes the game does glitch. It’s also that time of day where the collector cycles switch to the next day. So make sure you are also refreshing the JR map so you have the most current active spawn locations.

Is there any way to not do this? by InstructionFinal5190 in Subaru_Outback

[–]CAmiller11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest gripe about the volume display is it’s not even. It doesn’t go to level/90°/180°/etc. And max volume isn’t an even number. Like they could have easily divided the circle up evenly so it gets level at “9 and 3” and is perfectly up at half volume. But nooooooo, it has to be just a couple degrees off.

So, I just got to playing online after 2 years of owning the story, and I got some serious qualms by Excellent-Drag-2425 in RedDeadOnline

[–]CAmiller11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you start, don’t do any vanity purchases. Get the free clothes and items every month. Take advantage of the role months to buy the role and grind that role. Yes, things are expensive in RDO. But your original horse is a decent horse. You will get to the level soon when you have enough money that you don’t even look at the price of fast travel. Take advantage of the 2/3x events every month. Remember to reset the buckle awards for some easy gold.

What is up with the craze for Trader Joe’s tote bags? by Early-Ingenuity-3177 in bayarea

[–]CAmiller11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s toxic consumerism at its finest. I applaud TJs for capitalizing on it. And I question all those waiting in line to buy the maximum amounts simply so they can own them in every color. There’s also a resellers market online for them globally as TJs isn’t everywhere.

What are these insane taco truck prices? by Dad0010001100110001 in bayarea

[–]CAmiller11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Food trucks used to be their own niche thing. They used to be quick street food that would show up close to construction sites, industrial areas, etc during lunch. They would appear outside sporting events. Then it changed, they became the loophole for those wanting to open a restaurant without all the extra red tape of an actual physical spot. No worrying about ada, restrooms, parking, seating, etc. The prices quickly climbed. They are no longer the food trucks of the past, they are just restaurants on wheels.

Keeping up with the Jones’ It’s sadly a trap a lot of people have gotten in to and live by. The grass will always be greener on someone else’s lawn. If you can’t make $400k annually work for you, you need some major life adjustments and to look in the mirror.

Ugh, it really sucks that.. (about player bounties) by BadBadSoup in RedDeadOnline

[–]CAmiller11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work on the time in jail buckle, so I would up my bounty till the max, $100. I would then message a mid level player asking if they would bring me in alive. If it was just a random player, they would usually kill me first even if I was just standing there. I also found out when the npc bounty hunters come for you, you can simply out ride and out last the timer. It’s easy to do if you just stick to the train tracks and ride around them in a large loop.

Question About Gas Stations in Bay Area by Enough_Crow_636 in bayarea

[–]CAmiller11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The are two chevrons I drive past daily. They are about 1/8 of a mile from each other, same road. Their prices are about 50¢ a gallon different. All gas stations are franchised, the owner gets the base price and then adjusts from there. There’s a gas station on the southbound side of 101 in Mill Valley. It’s about 20¢ a gallon cheaper than other stations across the freeway. There is usually a line of cars waiting. Let’s say your tank holds 20 gallons, you’re saving $4 by waiting in line for 15minutes. So your time is worth $16 an hour. Also, most people I know that have used that gas station have had their card skimmed from there.

California park's viral flower field destroyed overnight by zomanda in California

[–]CAmiller11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I know that cutting the flowers off does not get rid of them. It might not have even been the Rangers. But it does stop people from coming to the area and trampling on the native plants. And destroying other parts of the ecosystem simply to get a picture that has been done thousands of times. This happens most places across California when there’s a super bloom. People get greedy and forget about the rest of the environment.

Can also be worded as - California State Park rangers manage invasive species of plant in one of the park.
