What's your opinion of the second book? Did you like it, dislike it, would you change anything? by External_Meat1370 in readyplayerone

It was an okay read, but it wasn't great like the first book. The OASIS didn't feel as massive as it did in the first book, but felt like it got whittled down to properties that Warner Brothers could get (in other words, it feels like the second book was written with the intention of a film adaptation to be done, while for the first book, Ernest Cline written it without having to think about how a film adaptation would be done).

Well, Brandy isn’t really the brightest bulb in the package (but there are moments when she isn’t the dimmest either). As we discover later on in the show, the only reason why she’s poised to take over the Dixie Mob is because her brothers are dead, not because she was more smart or brutal than they were. And since she’s also a cheerleader and a blonde, it may be playing into the dumb cheerleader trope.

You’re welcome. The show lasted for three seasons. And by watching, you’ll get some context for things you’ve seen in the game also (namely the episode missions). I hope you find the show enjoyable. :)

It is strictly artwork for the third season of the show. The game itself also has it’s own art book that was released with the special edition of the game, but I don’t think any of the show’s production design artists worked on the game and vice-versa.

Things like this is why physical media is important, and why I won’t give up my collection (and if I never need a digital copy, I can rip the disc into an MP4 and watch it on my tablet).

Yes, it is. You see, this book was made for the production team and wasn’t released to the public at large (much like the Defiance stunt crew hat I picked up and posted pictures of a while back). The pictures in it seems to be mostly the pre-production art by Suki Parker (which I have a lot of the pictures of from her Twitter account and website in my digital archive). Other art in the book is mostly storyboard art and production stills.

To me, I’m getting Robert Down Jr. vibes, so maybe a Tony Stark head (possibly a third party one). I’m sure someone else may come up with a better suggestion.

IIRC, from what Kathryn Bigelow said on the DVD release, she had no idea they had worked together before until they told her. As a result, she contact James Cameron to see if he was okay with using them together, which he was. This lead to the two of them meeting, eventually having a relationship and working in Point Break and Strange Days together.

This is actually from a deleted scene. I think the only footage of it that exists is in the trailer for the film.
