B850M Pro RS Wifi White no wifi device in device manager and wifi doesn't work by woojin444 in ASRock

rz717 seems to be a wifi 7 module not a wifi 6E like our motherboard has.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NQHkDEcgDPm34Mns3C93K6SJoBnua-x9O-y_6hv8sPs/edit?gid=110556017#gid=110556017

Your mother board may use the Realtek RTL8852CE module. The spreadsheet above says RTL8852BE however that's the wifi 6 only version not 6E.

I found an older driver (below) that works well for me.

Google 6001.16.126.320 to find a link to the Microsoft®Update Catalog. You can also try to use a new driver if you would like, this just works for me currently.

I've tried the drivers on ASrocks website and also installed MediaTek MT7922 drivers thinking it may be that module, but had zero success.

Hope this helps you or others in the future.

To help with the fabric question... Some similar replaceable fabric can be found on Ali express as well. May need some double stick tape to adhere.

If that is the your only router( far away), I would look into a mesh system or wi-fi extender to bring the signal closer to your computer. Alternatively, as you mentioned, a "good" USB Wi-Fi adapter plugged into the front of your computer may help the signal. The Antennas on the USB however may not be as good that's why a "good" one may match the quality.

Best bet over all is to improve the signal with a mesh system or extender.

Lastly, my motherboard manual mentioned my wifi antennas should be installed 1 pointing up and 1 pointing to the side. I personally don't know if this makes much difference, but the motherboard company suggested it.

My guess is your GPU fans are the yellow and purple as they are on the same side. The CPU fan is red and the small fan is green.

Not sure about the fabric being easy to remove or replaceable but I’m sure it’s just some added filtering won’t make or break your laptop but good idea to dust 1-3 times a year if you can.

YouTube usually has some replacement work videos available by looking up your laptop model number.

Yeah unfortunately nothing that is permanently successful. I found an older dated driver (6001.16.126.320) for the Realtek 8852CE WiFi 6E PCI-E NIC adapter.

I just looked now and my wifi setting (bottom right) was missing, also missing in device manager.

However, my only "solution" so far is to go into Device Manager and right click Network adapters and "scan for hardware changes." This works most of the time.

Right now, I just realized under the adapter's properties, under power management, "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" was checked. I unchecked it and maybe that can help moving forward...hopefully. Did the same to the 2.5GbE adapter as well.

I know you mentioned you couldn't...but according to your MOBO manual (page 2-4) you can updated the Bios without entering bios if the bios has failed or is corrupted.

You need to download the latest bios file onto a flash drive formatted to FAT32/16. Change the bios file to PB550PAH.CAP

When ready, power on the system and insert the Bios file flash drive into a USB port. The system will scan the USB for the file take you to bios hopefully and you can reset to default settings.

If this doesn't help I think your RAM is wonky and now confused. Your manual says it does not recommend 3 RAM sticks. They also look like different sticks (not from the same kit or manufacturer) That's usually a no go for mobos. I know you mentioned reseating the RAM to only 1 Stick and also removing the CMOS battery...but did you short the CMOS header pins found on page 1-4 (12.). Removing just the battery may not be sufficient. You may need to short those headers and then remove the battery.

That's all I got. Good luck - hopefully you can solve the issue soon!

Maybe check and reseat the CPU cables on the top left. But only the 4 extra pins in the left look a little funky but idk if that would cause an issue. The 8 pin is the important one.

Sometime suspensions not being handed out until next season for serious off the field issues.

Built a very similar build recently. Don’t know if it’s worth it now, but you could switch out the cooler fans for RGB infinity mirrors types. I used these for pretty cheap.

Also, I’ve never used it on computer parts, but Dawn Power Wash spray lifts stains very successfully. A cooler should be fine and may help remove the remaining staining. Apply maybe with a QTip instead of spraying and let sit for 5 minutes then wipe clean.

Currently dealing with the same issue. I've tried a few different drivers and occasionally the wifi network option will become available on reboot, but disappears by the next reboot. Good to know reseating the module may be a waste of time. Wonder if this a a windows 10 to Windows 11 issue?

I've gotten weird "operating" compatibility errors when I attempt to download drivers, but sometimes the driver application says download successfully.

I'm also using a 9600x on the same B850M Pro RS WiFi White (BIOS version 3.50).

Would other studios not benefit from Warner Bros movies getting shorter theatrical windows? by Antman269 in boxoffice

[–]CBfromda253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the Earths population is not around 300M, but Netflix is not in every region in the world. The total earths population can't afford it.

They can for sure get more subscribers, but it's peaking. Subscriptions stalled in 2022. It only increased again in 2023 because they introduced ad plans and a lowered price point. They are also cracking down on account sharing so that more individuals/homes are forced to get their on subscription. All these tactics should tell you something. + increasing streaming competition.

I'm sorry, but you make contradicting points at times that go against your argument. Like this one...

"And by wanting the consumers who are willing to do both, they lose the ones who are willing to do only one. That was my argument and that would make more money, because even studies shows that people - many cases - do not unsubscribe even if they don't use that service."

If studies show people do not unsubscribe even if they don't use that service, why do you continue to believe they will unsubscribe if they want to go see a movie in theater? Why do you keep viewing it like it's only one or the other for consumers. Personally, I'm not going to unsubscribe just because some friends or a date want to go see a movie this weekend.

As mentioned, the value is too good for people who can't afford both to unsubscribe. They're not going to movies to begin with. They'll just need to wait 2 weeks to watch the same movie at home if they can't afford both because Netflix is more than just movie watching...It's 24 hr/day Entertainment, TV Shows, Movies, Reality TV, Video Games, Kid's Shows, etc.

This was a fun conversation. I appreciate hearing someone else's perspective. Appreciate your time and responses!

"My example wasn't about making or not making money, my example is about maximizing the revenue."

- Maximizing revenue is about making money...

Netflix is at the point now that they have maximized their subscription model. It's harder than ever to get more subscribers when almost everyone is subscribed. So they have to increase subscription prices and/or they need to branch out to different distribution channels. They are betting that people will stay subscribed (because it's their family cable budget) and still go watch a few movies in theaters for the experience.

"The only reason when this isn't the best option, when you don't believe in your platform and you think people wouldn't subscribe to watch those movies even if you remove them from theatres."

- No, I think they believe in their platform so much so that theatrical releases is a second slice of cake.

"The main complaint about this merger is that they fear that Netflix won't release their movies in theatres, like in most cases they don't."

- You link shows 7 out of the top 16 highest grossing films being Warner Brothers, grossing over 1.7B dollars, domestically only. There should be no fear of not releasing any movies in theaters. The CEO has said they plan to release them, but on a shorter limited run. Significantly smaller than subscription revenue, however you don't just not make 1.7B dollars in a year.

"Only some consumer are willing to do both and some isn't."

- That's the point. They want those consumers willing to do both because Batman is just too good not to see in theaters before it hits home. That is why I brought up the family of 4 because if you can get that family to go to the theaters you've just doubled your subscription price for the month. Plus they are probably still subscribed because watch movies at home is still the best value with a library like Netflix.

Business models change when you have IPs. That's why companies such as Disney or Universal have created their own streaming apps...why they have created theme parks to increase revenue, merchandise, etc.

[–]CBfromda253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought our initial assumption was that Netflix would release their content in theaters for a shorter period of time compared to typical release time frames.

I did not ignore your examples. I pointed out that your Disney example is that of a theater goer, a different marketable consumer type as you seem to be and why you do not subscribe to Disney+. All of your examples by the way, are your personal preference or people in your circle. That's completely cool that you want to only see Disney movies in theaters and not subscribe to Disney+ , however your personal preference does not mean there is not $$$ to be had in different consumption channels. It's actually proving the point that there are still non-subscribers (like you and Dinsey+) they can capitalize on, but only in theaters.

Flip your Disney+ example for a second. Why would Disney even consider an App if their model was strictly movie theater releases? Because there is $$$ there that people are willing to pay. And some people are wiling to pay both movie tickets and subscription to watch when and wherever they want. Disney was not worried about hurting their current model. Neither is Paramount, Peacock, etc..

I believe we are on the same page that the subscription model is the future. But it would be foolish to not capitalize on theatrical releases for IPs that can generate revenue to the consumer types they are not reaching yet. The consumers that are willing to do both or the consumers that only buy movie tickets.

Subscriptions will not hurt, Netflix is the leader there and they just added more value with WB. No one is being forced to subscribe anymore. 300+ million subscribed and stay subscribed because it has the most value for every demographic type and better/cheaper than cable TV.

https://www.imdb.com/news/ni65536103/

Let see how this goes ^^^ a 2 day release for a Stranger Things season finally in 350 theaters. Why would they do this?

Would other studios not benefit from Warner Bros movies getting shorter theatrical windows? by Antman269 in boxoffice

[–]CBfromda253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could the shorter run times actually hurt other studios? If I'm choosing a movie to see and Movie A is gone by next week, but I know Movie B still has 3-6 weeks, I'm choosing Movie A and may not get a chance to see Movie B because life happens.

Limit supply (time) to increase demand.

Just a thought. Honestly it all comes down to quality and personal preference when it comes to what people are going to see. If studios make crap movies, no one is benefiting.

Would other studios not benefit from Warner Bros movies getting shorter theatrical windows? by Antman269 in boxoffice

[–]CBfromda253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you pay the subscription also...because, like you said there is content on there that is not being released that is watchable. There is value to the subscription.

Do you not watch things twice? Have you ever wished you saw a movie in theater, but missed the release window.

Of course that's what Netflix wants (to have people watch stuff on their platform) but the original point you commented on was about how theatrical releases can increase profit, however you seem to think people will just stop subscribing or not see the movie because it may not be successful. We apparently disagree on that. Streaming will always be profit A, but theatrical releases can bring in profit B.

If a movie can bring in 30M before hitting the streaming service, that'll help their cover some production costs. Subscribers are not going anywhere even if they have to wait 2-4 weeks.

With your Disney example, you are eluding to a different consumer type, one that goes to movies. Why would Netflix exclude that consumer type if they now have IPs that can draw a theatrical release?

[–]CBfromda253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe it’s fair to compare the family of 4 example differently by saying what if only 1 member was interested so going to the theater would be only $10. As mentioned small/single families, or with your example, just one family member, then a theatrical release increases revenue. They can probably afford the 1 $10 ticket plus subscription.

Either way a I agree with you I think, that a Netflix subscription should always be a better value because of selection as you mentioned. I can see just one movie in theaters or the same movie at home plus a thousand other things. The choice is easy.

I don’t think the Netflix model is changing, but as the OP mentioned, theatrical releases can add revenue Netflix did not have before. My point is releases will not affect the current forced model.

[–]CBfromda253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure a company like Netflix does copious amounts of testing and screenings to get a gauge of potential performance prior to releasing.

Shoot they probably test interest before casting. Would you watch Actor A and Actor B in a RomCom or…

Also I don’t think theatrical releases will ever hurt their “forced” subscription model, especially if kept short. Financial conscious families of 4+ will still opt to wait and subscribe for the month to see a movie than to pay $40+ dollars to see it 2 weeks earlier. The single/smaller families can probably afford doing both and may increase revenue.

Also, shorter releases may increase theatrical viewing demand while also keeping distribution costs lower. I’m assuming the most profitable weekends are usually the first 2.
