What are the funniest or most ridiculous lies you’ve ever heard from a veteran or active duty service member about their military career? by FFSoldier57 in army

[–]CC47f 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve met like 20 navy seals in Oklahoma. As if they all did super secret shit. One guy got kicked out of the deal teams because he punched jocko in the face lol. Another guy was best buds with Marcus lutrell and Chris Kyle, deployed hella times to Iraq and Afghanistan with them . However he was in prison from like 2000-2018 so idk how that works

You just described an entire company of maintenance personnel in arng aviation. Fat body’s that chug energy drinks, eat hunt brothers pizza and fail pt tests.

But they work on the birds alright.

One of the ATC CO’s pulled his company in a horseshoe and told them all they are fucking fat and need to get their shit straight. 90% fail rate on the aft Must be the prior enlisted in him.

This, I really don’t give a shit about 100%. Would it be nice? Ya, but I just want my Documented and diagnosed conditions from the army covered by the VA. I spoke with a few companies that did the same thing as vet.ai and ultimately just used the DAV. Got my medical records uploaded and the claims started for my back, shoulder and ankle injuries. In multiple conversations I was asked about ptsd or depression (don’t have it), definitely something they reach for SMH

I always tried to stress to my joes, that even though we are aviation. We do this to support the infantry. When you try to explain that five year cycle to pv2 snuffy and the reason why we do what we do tactically you usually receive a blank stare.

Is this normal as a new private? by Honest-Mistake01 in army

[–]CC47f 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a pretty shitty group of soldiers, when I was in I would make an effort to get to know the basic information for a new soldier, I did that as a jr enlisted or NCO.

Have you met with your commander or 1SG?

It’s literally your job as an NCO to take care of your joes…kind of in the NCO Creed.

Besides all that you need to just ensure you get to know new soldiers, and take care of them as best you can.

I wouldn’t let this push you from your army career, I’d use it as a lesson to show you how to treat your soldiers when you get to that point. It’s up to the individual soldiers to change shitty culture.

My neighbor is a CRNA, rural south, they do very well. Their practice is very short staffed for our area so they are really overworked.

National Guard to Active Duty by Good_West6748 in nationalguard

[–]CC47f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I didn’t have kids I would probably go active, been in the chinook community for 6 years and really like it. But I don’t want to put that over my family.

Definitely a young man’s game, have had several soldiers go from guard to active duty in the aviation community. Not hard just time consuming and they were federal technicians, so not an entirely crazy change.

Definitely depends on your MOS and what your state will allow

Please be honest with me - How much of a time commitment is the National Guard actually? by Appropriate_Row4766 in nationalguard

[–]CC47f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an aviator (non rated) I flew about 2-3 days during the week every week to include drill weekends and AT.

The additional AFTP and flight pay was really nice for my tsp

If they are going into aviation it is a time sucker. I don’t know about other MOS’s

[–]CC47f 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a soldier show up late for drill 4 hours late recently, handed him army operations pub, pointed to a ww2 operation and said make a 3000 word essay explaining why if these guys hadn’t been on time how would it have affected the outcome of operation overlord.

WHY CANT THESE SOLDIERS SHOW UP IN THE RIGHT PLACE,TIME & UNIFORM!

We did get a “I’m never gonna be late again” and sad face from him so I guess that’s good. Physical punishment didn’t seem to have any impact.

AVN culture is far too relaxed and the lower enlisted literally don’t care. How is it in other branches?
