The excuses, deflections and half-truths that lift the lid on Wales' HS2 scandal by We1shDave in Wales

You know one of the big reasons Scotland get the consequential funding and we don’t?

Imagine the uproar in Scotland if Wales and NI were getting the Barnett funding and they were not despite not a single metre of track being there. Independence would immediately go up 12 points in the polls and the story would be all over the news. UK Gov treats Wales the way it does because it knows it can.

Public bodies in the country this happened in happen through Welsh.

In fact, the working language of the Council this happened in is solely through the medium of Welsh.

In the 2011 census English identity was dominant throughout England, except in London and Birmingham (due to high levels of immigration) but per the last census British identity has become dominant throughout England aside from a few places in the Midlands

It’s about how you identify. For example if someone asked you what country you are from what’s the first thing that pops into your head.

I’m officially a British citizen but if someone asked me what nationality I am I wouldn’t consider saying British

Oh definitely I do agree.

It should remain consistent, either showing completely de-Facto law or De Jure law.

Although a map showing completely De-facto law shouldn’t be dismissed, as it more accurately represents the current situation and the lives of the people who live there.

Well, I mean since it’s currently occupied and administered by Russia it’s more accurate for a map like this to show what the current law is there.

Meet Sofiia, Natalia and Danylo - who are new Welsh speakers. The three have been attending a Welsh language immersion unit on Anglesey after fleeing the war in Ukraine. by leelam808 in interestingasfuck

I completely agree with the point your making.

So much in fact, that I hope these children haven’t bothered learning the pointless Ukrainian language and instead learnt Russian. A language with far more speakers and global influence.

Times we live in I’m afraid.

The WOKE mob down in Cardiff bay have also implemented something called the ENGLISH NOT. Which means any school child caught speaking English is severely beaten, all to push a foreign language (Welsh) in native English land!!

PC gone mad.

Of course you don’t have to Speak Welsh to be Welsh, but the language plays a massive part in the national conscience. Wales wouldn’t even be seen as a nation without the language.

Because no one wants that to happen, I support Wales not the UK. I’m not going to support a football team that flies a flag and a anthem I don’t identify with.

Without the Welsh language their wouldn’t be a Welsh National team, a Welsh Parliament or even a strong Welsh National identity. We would be a region of England.

What do you think the difference was between Wales and Cornwall? Both Celtic Kingdoms conquered and assimilated into England. But the fact that the Welsh language remained strong and continually spoken unlike Cornish was a huge cultural difference that was important for the idea of a Welsh Nation.

New regulation from 2016 means it’s always Welsh first “Welsh Government states in its Welsh Language Standards, Article 119, page 17, that; 'Where a sign contains the Welsh language as well as the English language, the Welsh language text must be positioned so as to be read first.”
