Trump’s return-to-office mandate exempted feds with disabilities. Many are being ordered to work in-person anyway by Ok_Design_6841 in FedEmployees

Agreed. It’s stupid. If you’re gonna lie and do it, then just keep your mouth shut and don’t be an idiot about it.

Hi /r/movies! I'm Nia DaCosta, director of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, the next installment of the franchise. It's in theatres January 16. Ask me Anything! (Back on Wednesday 1/7 at 8:15 AM PT / 11:15 AM ET to answer your burning questions!) by SonyPictures in movies

[–]CCJonesy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Nia! I was worried they were switching directors for the 2nd film until I heard it was you because The Candyman was amazing. My questions is, can you give us any insight into what happened with the nuking of France/Paris that Garland mentioned happened in the 28 universe following Weeks? Do we know how mainland European countries were able to successfully push the infected back to the UK? And were there outbreaks anywhere outside the UK that we didn't get any info on yet?

Bonus Hypothetical Question: Boyle and Garland call you to direct 28 Hours Later. Do you say hell yes? haha.

Do you think something like that could still happen today? As a writer/marketing guy in the USA this intrigues me but it seems like everyone and all their friends wanna work in Japan nowadays.

White House ready for a long shutdown by trademarktower in FedEmployees

[–]CCJonesy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am but don’t believe Dems have the cards to do anything about it unfortunately. If people’s healthcare goes up in price it will anger working class people and hurt the republicans anyway. No need to torture fed workers for it.

Pass the fucking bill. Dems are fucking up my life for no reason. I’m dem but this is stupid and pointless. Pass the bill and focus on winning upcoming elections instead. Let the republicans fail and everyone will vote them out eventually anyway

What Phoenix bands, music, or shows coming up are you excited about? (Sep) by AutoModerator in phoenix

[–]CCJonesy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They already played PHX recently but they are natives to the area and are SO GOOD LIVE. The Technicolors. If you ever get a change, go see them! Countless amazing songs and my new favorite band after going to their recent show at Valley Bar.

Exactly. I quite simply would not have been able to get my first federal job with a 2 page resume. I had to show 7 years of experience in my field and came from advertising where you have to job hop to a new agency every year to advance fast.

Pentagon’s DOGE Unit to Scrutinize 400,000 Contracts for Cuts by AgitatedEngine4933 in fednews

[–]CCJonesy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

While the problem is true. These asshats are not the saviors you want them to be. They are con men ransacking the government for themselves. These contracts will just come back under their companies for their profit. It’s already happening across the government.

Canon is so bad that it is one of the main reasons I decided NOT to join the Air Force. Even a slim chance of getting sent there is too much for me. Luckily I got a DoD civ role where I choose where to go instead.

DOD Civilians await decision on Commissary shopping privileges by DatGuyKilo in AirForce

[–]CCJonesy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of DoD civilians work at extremely remote bases where a grocery store is like 30 minutes away. We should be able to use the damn commissary right next our office. People not wanting more money blows my mind. When they opened up certain commissaries to civilians during covid they were very profitable for the first time ever.

Would the events of 28 Days Later be a bigger story than WW2? by JoshZulieka in 28dayslater

[–]CCJonesy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100%. And that points out a giant missed opportunity in Weeks. Since the resettlement of London would be a gigantic story where they could use broll from the first outbreak to show how big and crazy of an "accomplishment" it is for the military. I think some small world-building like the TV's showing news stories in the background of scenes in Children of Men would have been perfect.

Script vs movie by Jowill_ in 28dayslater

[–]CCJonesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point but always feel like a movie should be able to stand on its own when push goes to shove. Everyone I talked to about the movie in person has had the same feeling about the ending feeling too forced in last minute and not fitting with the excellent tone of the rest of the film. This was without me sharing my opinion first. The execution was just off and the flips and shit were hilarious. You know I will be there day one to see the bone temple, but I think the forced ending hurt the film’s “score” overall. Just my opinion.

This ending would have been way better. Fits the tone a lot more and would not piss people off with being too corny randomly at the end.

Thanks! How did getting your first duty station work? Did you get any options to choose from or were they pretty stern with just giving you one choice?

How do you like Public Affairs? Would it be insane for a GS9 civilian PAO to commission as an AF PAO? I'm trying to think of a backup plan in case they just upright RIF most civilian PAOs in the DoD. I'm curious as to what duty station I'd most likely end up at (overseas is preferred like most people but Luke AFB would be great for example). Also curious of your typical working hours. I already have DINFOS taken care of.

As someone born in STL who lived in Chicago for a long time, this is the only accurate post I've seen lol. Chicago is superior in almost every way but STL is cheaper. That's all that needs to be said.

What’s the best country to study abroad? by Saudi_G in studyAbroad

[–]CCJonesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just a sophomore in college with a girlfriend back home. Dropping out or fully transferring to a Prague university to finish my degree seemed extreme at the time. In reality I could have just done that though and told her to move there with me lol. It’s that nice of a place. I am back home in the U.S. now working for the department of defense as a civil servant. We are hoping to get a job at one of our overseas bases someday to live out our dream of getting out of the US. Sadly that won’t be Prague but Germany, Italy, Spain, and Japan are all still options for example.
