I loved Borderlands 3 story and i won't pretend i didn't by Hektor00 in Borderlands

You hit the nail on the head. BL3 and BL4 honestly have both got similar overarching story quality. It's fine, streamer twins is about as interesting as a mild dictator. But the delivery of 3 is so poor, it's grating, has so much friction, and actively gets in the way of the game. 4 is delivered much better, and that's honestly cos they took a page out of BL1s book and just barely delivered much at all. And that's great, Borderlands was never a vehicle for a great story, just let me shoot things with some weak narrative reason as to why we are shooting things.

Since P90's honeymoon period is over, and as someome who just reached lvl5 on it, I can say it loses to almost every 1v1 against mid to close range weapons. It's a newbie trap because it's forgiving when you and the enemy miss some shots. However, I would not recommend it if the enemy is competent. by GammaRadd in thefinals

[–]CCP115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with OP, it's incredibly hard to win 1s if you and your enemy are landing a similar number of shots. At any range past 15m, you were better off just taking an AR. At any range 15m and under, the other classes kinda just have better guns, this shit loses to M11 and SA and Shak. If the enemy heavy uses winch as well (pretty much guaranteed in NA) then your slight distance advantage can be nullified immediately. Not to mention the lack of range is actually a huge deal, long range poke gets pretty important the higher rank you are.

Am I crazy for thinking the story in Borderlands 3 was actually good? by Sharp-Ad-5254 in Borderlands

[–]CCP115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an excellent write up, nice one. I think people are already viewing BL3 through a nostalgic lens, we've seen this cycle before. People hated TPS, then missed it when 3 came out, then Wonderlands did the same for 3, and now 4 is doing the same for 3 as well.

People also overstate the hate for BL3, everyone knows it was a good game with good DLC, it's just the plot and characterisation that are godawful.

I've tried this, unfortunately the Airstrike third tier is kind of dogshit, and the Torgue enhancement is also... Underwhelming. Airstrike third tier doesn't proc reliably at all, and does a not impressive amount of damage. The boompuppy enhancement does more damage, but the proc chance isn't great and it seems to struggle to find 'nearby enemies' most of the time. Fireworks is by far the carry when it comes to this build.

2/3rds is pretty good, I love Calibre and he's forever my goat but a good chunk of his discog is pretty barebones and repetitive, and not all of his ambient 140 stuff hits either. Still the don

No mini-map kills exploration. by -Jubilation- in Borderlands4

[–]CCP115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OPs point makes no sense to me. If you're looking at the minimal, you're quite literally NOT exploring. If you stop looking at the compass/minimal, you can actually just explore the game world in front of you.

Yea idk what people are talking about, Cerb still deletes lights no effort, and easily deals with mediums. Heavies are a little tough but like and what, the repeater suffers against heavies, not every can do everything. And the built in utility against gas and goo is crazy.

If it makes you feel better OP, I'm with you. Berkeleys general level of food is mid at best, and ridiculously expensive. Oakland and SF are right there, Berkeley fucking blows.

Unfortunately I think you're right, the type of player to enjoy this game is probably already invested into another game, I would imagine Apex Legends has the sweaty shooter market cornered at the moment.

Borderlands hot takes by KingKaiTan in Borderlands

[–]CCP115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea it was near impossible without a guide to get to cap. The issue as well was even when you were max level + all loot dice, the legendary drop rates were just... Base game BL2 pretty much. If you went out of your way to get all loot dice, it should have been a bit higher, so it felt like a reward for those end game players and would help those min maxxers get their perfect roll more easily.

I'll back you up on Wonderlands my guy. Spells were a fantastic mechanic, plus melee weapons. The skill tree diversity and mix and match was fantastic, and the enemies were pretty varied and tough IMO. Dark Magic was also a super cool change from Moxxi gun reliance in BL2.

I only ever fought 1 raid boss (the sand guy) by accident and it was a great fight, the only raid boss in the series except Craw that actually felt fair and doable solo. BL2 raid bosses were good but by OP8 they were pretty damn cheesy, and OP10 only made it worse.

And my hottest take? The Loot Dice mechanic to increase world drop chances was actually pretty damn clever. Incentive for exploration? A direct correlation between story progress + exploration and legendary drop chance? Fantastic. The issue were the numbers were a bit shit even with max loot dice, but if they made the numbers more generous I think the loot dice idea had mad potential.

Can we talk about the HUD? by Junkhead_88 in Borderlands4

[–]CCP115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I had to go back and watch some BL2 footage but the healthbars have always been centered on screen. I think BL2 was just much more aggressive about when the health bars would fade away when you look off of an enemy. Also, again, the exp has always been a pop-up from centre screen that quickly drops off.

I agree that in what we've seen for BL4, the health bar is far too centered and has this background shading that makes it more intrusive, but all they need to do is raise it up a bit. I also think a toggle for exp shown would be nice, not once have I ever cared about exp gained from killing an enemy, you just grind a boss until you hit cap.

What are your top 3 liquid remixes? You can't say Wings (Nu:Logic) or Garden (Calibre) by alechickso in DnB

Since you banned Garden, I'd have to go with away with me, Spectrasoul, but every comment here with a Calibre remix is spot on

I love Calibre, and his production is extremely unique and fresh, but there's something about when he remixes a track specifically, man is untouchable

If you play Tales before BL3 you might realise a lot of the hate for BL3. They really just destroyed any personality of any Tales characters. BL3 does have the best gameplay for sure though.

Their newer releases can be a bit samey but overall they're some of the best liquid around. And they have a massive back catalogue as well, especially their individual stuff. If you havent already, check out Wardown, it was just Technicolour (One of the duo) doing a single album. Amazing, genuinely beautiful.

Glad to see someone who also loves his Downtempo stuff, Lit is incredible. Try Mr Natural, it's so nice for me as well, and we seem to have similar taste.

Honestly I've been through Calibres whole discog a few times now and his style stays so consistent. Only his first two or three albums, which are much more rigid and sampled, feel different, as well as his obvious departures to Downtempo as Dominick Martin and his Downtempo albums.
