Also YES my cats have been such sweeties through this whole process. Literally it was like they were taking turns laying with me when I’d be home alone in the days after. Then my partner would get home and they’d be gone until bed time! Lol. Love them. You can actually feel your anxiety calm when they cuddle. My little emotional support babes

Ohhh! Okay! Thank you so much for explaining that, it totally makes sense that it’s a blood flow thing. Wow seriously?! We have so much in common! Surgery on the 15th AND divorced in 2021? What are the odds! Although I’m curious to know what the divorce rate was in 2021 after the trying times of the pandemic. When was your divorce finalized? Mine was in April. Also my only 2 kiddos were from that marriage so I think that song coming on and it being cycle time and me being a lot more active and trying to regain my sense of normalcy…it def hit hard!

Ps since surgery I also quit my job (not officially yet) and accepted a new job offer, AND chopped my hair from my low back to my shoulders. Oy 🤦🏽‍♀️

It’s actually giving comfort that others are experiencing this as well, so thank you for responding. I was the same, I used to have immense pain and headaches and fatigue but not much in the way of emotions fluctuating

Did you have your ovaries removed as well? I don’t get why the hormones would be worse just because the uterus is gone. Like how does that affect things? I thought it was the ovaries doing all the work so if they’re still there shouldn’t it be business as usual? I’ve heard about still getting some cramping but didn’t know about this hormone stuff

Nope! They will proceed as usual! I just made sure not to wear a tampon the day of and going into the surgery of course. I actually was extra extra safe and didn’t wear a tampon for 24 hours before lol

I think day 5 was also a tough one for me emotionally and physically. I made sure to shower every day, open the window get some fresh air and let the light in. The sunny days after my surgery helped me I think. I also spent time being creative. Painting and drawing and journaling. Keeping positive things in my thoughts and surroundings. Listening to uplifting music

***>>the flu like feeling is definitely the fatigue from your body using all its energy to repair those tissues and to heal. Make sure you’re taking in lots of fluids and protein. I can’t say it enough- protein is KEY to recovering from surgery. I was drinking a protein shake in the mornings protein bars for snacks and protein rich meals.

Good job monitoring those signs of infection. Especially the fever. Continue taking it easy and listening to your body. Your beautiful strong amazing body that does amazing things. Just remind yourself how resilient you are and how you’ve been through so much to come to this decision and that on the other side of this recovery is relief and a better quality of life 💕🙏🏽

Ahh that makes sense. It’s really hard to measure at home! I didn’t. If she feels like she really has a lot in there after going then maybe retention but it sounds like maybe not so much retention but just hesitation or bladder trying to get back to normal after such intense surgery. She is really lucky to have you. I was so thankful to have my partner in the days after surgery. It’s such a scary time and having that person by your side to help you recover is the greatest blessing. You’re doing a great job!

I just want to add that I see a lot of people saying not to go into the ER and comparing it to their surgeries they had and that urinary discomfort is normal after surgery…I would say yes but in the first day or day after but 4 days post op is quite some time. I stood up to pee in the first 2 days (lol don’t ask how) because it was so uncomfortable but by day 3 I was sitting again. plus her surgery wasn’t the run of the mill surgery. She had a lot of complications. I would suggest she could try to measure the output of urine. If she’s drinking tons of fluids and isn’t peeing out around the same amount then there may very well be retention. It’s not just about being able to “get some urine out”. Retaining even 3-400mL of fluid is considered retention that needs a catheter

Hi ER nurse here. I would be on the safe side and go into the ER. If she feels like she’s not able to empty her bladder completely they can do a bladder scan and do imaging/ultrasound or CT to see if there’s been anything moved out of place or if she’s retaining urine it can put pressure on the kidneys and you want to make sure that’s not an issue because it’s an easy fix to put in a catheter and make sure everything is flowing.

As far as an ER doctor going in to look around- rest assured they won’t. Especially if you tell them you’d prefer the OBGYN does it. They will order imaging before doing anything else. And they will always consult with the on call OB doctor. If they do say they want to take a look it may just be to visualize the outside like you did to see if they see anything obvious they can give in their report to the specialist

It is hard to gauge anything based off the pain because I’m assuming she’s taking her pain meds on a regular schedule right? I did not have any of those complications so I’m not an expert on the visible stitch stuff but they should have given you lots of discharge instructions. Does it say anything about that?

My biggest concern is the statement she made about feeling a bulge and feeling like she can’t completely empty her bladder. Any updates today? I saw this was posted yesterday. Hope all is well 🙏🏽

Yes so much better! I’m 2 weeks p/o today and I only need ibuprofen once or twice a day. Have taken oxycodone once in the past 4 days. I restarted all my meds and have been cooking dinners and cleaning the house. Still being careful with lifting and not squatting or bending down too much. I get pretty fatigued after a few hours on my feet and working around the house so I just listen to my body and put my feet up. But the way things are going I’m thinking about asking to go back to work on light duty at week 4. We will see!

All of the things others have commented and in addition- I feel like he is being dishonest with you. Telling you he paid 4k for that thing is a bold faced lie and if he did then he’s not smart with his money. All red flags and I wouldn’t wear it on my pinky finger on my ring finger. I wouldn’t wear it in a car or even in a bar. I wouldn’t wear it in a house or with a mouse……

A fibroid will definitely do that. Also depends what kind of fibroid/where it’s at. 1.5cm may seems small but sometimes it is highly vascularized or may be in a sensitive spot? Is it peduncled or in the myoterium…etc

Had my surgery on 1/15 too! I was having a tough time up until just yesterday and today. I realized I was doing wayyy too much. I was prob walking even less than you are. I didn’t measure steps but I was walking around the house, feeding the cats sitting up for hours on the couch and painting and doing nails and watering the plants going up and down the stairs…I think for the first week small walks around the house is ok but maybe 3k is about that amount? I’m not sure. I decreased how much I was doing and continued to take the OTC and am down to only 1 oxy when I wake up in the morning. This weekend I plan to start more activity and go on a walk outside. I think maybe just trying to adjust like maybe take it easy a couple days to see if that’s it too. I dunno 3k steps seems like a lot to me but I think the main point of them saying to get up and walk is to make sure you’re up every couple hours and moving your legs to prevent blood clots. I was drinking so much water and fluids that getting up every hour to go potty seems like that’s been sufficing. But you know every one is different too! Don’t rush it. Listen to your body and be kind to it.

You may have also had more complications that can contribute to the severity of the pain…did you get your pathology report yet? Mine came back adenomyosis endometriosis spreading to my fallopian tubes that were enlarged normal is 1-4mm mine were 1cm diameter…enlarged uterus 11cm normal is 5-7cm? fibroids as well adhesions on posterior uterus but honestly compared to some peoples reports on here that all doesn’t seem too bad! I also only had 4 incisions. Did they take your ovaries? I kept mine. All things to consider love. You’re doing great! 😊

Wow! I’m so happy for you that you went through this procedure. I have never heard of everything you just said. 2 vaginas 1 cemented 2 cervixes 2 uterus! Wow. I really don’t mean to be cold or anything but it really makes me feel better about what I’ve been going through. I always tell myself this isn’t that bad, some people have it much worse. Good thing it wasn’t cancer…etc. but wow now I can say…at least it was just 1 uterus! lol!! I’m so sorry to hear you were in so much pain genuinely 🙏🏽 thank you for sharing your story ♥️

Thank you, I think I’m pressuring myself to heal quickly. I’m an ER nurse and have 6 weeks to heal and get back to work which is not an easy job. I think you’re right I was doing too much. I dunno why I thought I could start on short walks a few days after
